2010 Cadillac Escalade review

Recommended Posts

The Escalade was Cadillac’s first major entry into the SUV segment.

The full-size SUV is also considered the world’s first luxury SUV that came with features never before seen in the segment. This made it popular with American movie stars, rap stars and sports personalities, which in turn spurred sales in its home market. The Middle East’s love for large SUVs has favoured the Escalade, which continues to do well in the region.

The cavernous Escalade is also available in a stretched version dubbed the ESV as well as a four-door pick up called the EXT. For the 2010 model year two new trims, Luxury and Premium, have been introduced to fill the big gap between the base and top-end Platinum version. All versions are powered by a 441bhp, 6.2-litre V8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose from rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, except in the case of Escalade EXT pickup, which comes only with all-wheel drive. The Escalade also features magnetic ride control suspension, which affords a smoother ride.

The Escalade comes very well equipped. Standard features include tri-zone climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, power front seats and remote start, as well as a Bose sound system, power liftgate and a navigation system. The Platinum packs on a DVD entertainment system, power sunroof, rearview camera, cooled front seats, upgraded leather upholstery and power-retractable running boards.

For the 2010 model year Cadillac has equipped the Escalade’s engine with fuel-saving cylinder-deactivation technology as well as new front side-impact airbags, a redesigned door structure for better occupant protection. Some features have been discontinued however, including the rain-sensing wipers and the rear indicator lights for the rear park assist system.
