2010 Toyota Corolla review

Recommended Posts

The Corolla is a stalwart of the Toyota range; a compact sedan now in its tenth generation.

This latest version was released in 2006 and offers customers a no-nonsense, value for money proposition to suit various budgets.

Designed with practicality and reliability in mind, the Corolla’s features include a boot larger than previous versions, with rear seats that fold in a 60:40 split for extra load lugging. There’s space for drinks bottles in the door pockets front and back, and cup holders in both sections of the cabin too. Looks-wise, there is a new front grille for the 2010 model year.

Standard safety features include ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, which helps keep the car stable under hard braking.

Two engines are available in the region. The first is a 1.6-litre motor with 107bhp, available in three versions of the XLi trim level and attached to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The first is the basic XLi, which includes a radio cassette player and air conditioning. The XLi power option adds in electric windows and mirrors, with keyless entry and central locking, as well as rear parking sensors. The XLi Top Range trim features a CD player with MP3 compatibility, as well as a leather steering wheel and a rear spoiler. It is only available with an automatic gearbox.

The more powerful engine choice is the 1.8-litre unit, which makes 130bhp attached to a four-speed automatic transmission. Five versions are available, starting with the XLi and XLi Power Option, which have the same features as above. The XLi Top Range adds in a six CD changer and Bluetooth phone connectivity, while the GLi features automatic air conditioning, dual front airbags and cruise control. The top-spec GLi Leather spec adds leather seats and a sunroof.
