Dear All I had a bad experience with VW DSG gearboxes with Ali&Sons in Abu Dhabi 3 years ago which lead me to sell the car when I got it back from the repair on the same week. Go ahead and book an appointment with the dealer and keep the inspection copy and explain carefully every and each notice and comment that you have. the 2 commonly parts which fails are clutch kit & michatronics and I'm sure that they keep stocks from it now but they may need a day or two days to obtain factory approval on warranty costs and they may give you a replacement car and may not! the recalls in China and USA and Latin America came after law cases and court orders which would cost here much more than car value and lawyer charges so take the easy way and go ahead and start the warranty claim. just a thought after repair you may ask for trade in from the dealer but go for any model with 6 speed (like Polo 1.6 or Jetta 2.0 and Tiguan 2.0T others have a dual clutch even GTI & CC & EOS) except Touarg it have a 7 speed but with conventional torque converter they call it DSG also while it is the same on Porsche Cayenne which called PDK which made by Aisian - JATCO and currently belongs to Nissan- Renault group.

Reading the trouble code is simple. You just need the scan tool. You can get the scan tool from any of the automobile workshop or showroom. You can either buy it or borrow from a workshop. All you have to do it connect the scan tool to the OBD II diagnostic connector in your car. The scan tool will automatically display all kind of trouble codes that is persisting in your car. Those trouble codes indicate the type of problem in your car. Not everyone knows all the trouble codes, so you can ask either the workshop person regarding the code or you can check for the trouble code online

Hi Guys, What the guy said was flushing should be done at 30K kms..and as i didnt do the oil change for past 10k kms,oil was black and he was recommending for flushing as well.later on he said as you are changing everything injector should be clean so injector cleaner is mandatory..finally while leaving he was saying that injector cleaner should be used at every 50K kms.my vehicle is just 30k kms..from you guys i understood that this is definitely an fluid just to make money..next time i should go for a synthetic oil and no more flushing nor injector cleaner.was able to learn from you guys.thanks alot for your comments. These days you don't even need a scan tool, you just need a laptop and a lead which you can probably pick up for 50 Dirhams, maybe less, from one of the internet sites. There are loads of software available to buy cheap or rip from the torrent sites for free depending on what car you have, i.e. Consult 3 for Nissan, VCDS for VW/Audi vehicles, Planet for Peugeot vehicles, Google will tell you what the specific software for your vehicle is. Or, you can just get a piece of software like Delphi Diagnostics which is pretty comprehensive and will cover most vehicles. Then it's just a matter of installing the software and connecting your laptop to your car viz the OBD port and playing around with the software until you learn how it works. Don't worry, you can't break your car by reading/erasing fault codes but if your software has any programming options, I would recommend staying away from them until you learn properly how engine management systems work and how your software relates to them.

Moreover the human mistakes can be a dangerous as 7 speed DSG (AQ250) have seven type of internal TCM codes (codes vary upon engine 1.0T, 1.2T, 1.4T 1.4T+SC, 1.6, 1.8T)which means during software update if the service engineer installed other software the car will continue moving and driving but eventually the mechatroincs will fail and burn out due to overheating because of wrong version of software update that run higher voltage on circuits. it even happened with me on my car when Ali&Sons engineer installed wrong version and lead to gearbox mechatronics failure in 10 days.

Bear in mind that cars with 17-,18-,19-inch rims usually have uni-directional tyres on the rims. This means that the tyre can only be used on one side of a vehicle, since the tyres were made to rotate in only one direction at high speeds. Therefore, these tyres cannot be fitted to the other side of the car, even if they are the same size. Rotating this tye of tyre to the other side of the vehicle will almost certainly cause catastrophic tyre failure, so have a good look at what type of tyres you have before you rotate them.

In my opinion, injector cleaner is snake oil, something for people to sell and make commission. The only way to really clean injectors is to remove them and use ultrasonic cleaning and even then, it's something that rarely needs done. The colour of old oil can be an indicator of needing to change it. Sometimes you might buy a car without service history or maybe you just plain forgot the last time you had it changed. The simplest way to tell is rub some between your finger and thumb. The oil, even if black, should have a reddish/brownness to it and it should be 'slippy', after all, oil is a lubricant. If it's black/black and sticky it's definitely time to change it. Changing oil early won't do any harm but leaving it too late certainly might. I've seen people on an American truck forum saying that the engine oil has to be changed every 3000 miles. That's a bit severe in my eyes, especially in these days of synthetic oils where the service intervals are becoming further and further apart, there are some VW oils where they say the oil will last for 20k miles before it needs changed but personally, I would never leave it that long on my own cars.
