Good morning guys! As we still have a couple of days before we venture into the big unknown, do please double check your vehicle's fluids, spare tire, and overall condition. I am super excited for this drive and hope you are all too! If you have some space left, bring some firewood please. One bag is more than enough 😆

What is Overlanding? The term overlanding refers to a self-reliant overland journey that focuses on long-distance travel through remote areas. Unlike off-roading, which is more about tackling rough terrains for fun, overlanding is about the journey itself. Think of it as a road trip with an added layer of adventure — one where you rely on your own driving skills, equipment, and preparation to reach remote locations.

Awesome footage, that’s the style I wish to drive ASAP The main idea of my posts was to find the correct way to the thing, as to my opinion driver did not performed it correctly. I have a little bit of car sports related background on tarmac, snow, rain etc. Desert is new thing for me and I am really excited about every upcoming drive, even if they feel a little bit too simple at the beginning:) I met @Gaurav just a month ago during the Masterclass and he asked me: what is your goal? Well, my goal is very simple, I wish to achieve high level of skill in the sands now:) Thanks everyone

I’ve just gone back to look at some recent videos - this is a drive I did recently with a roughly similar dune face. I should add that whilst this wasn’t a Carnity drive (we were testing some recent car maintenance ahead of a club drive), this is at the mid end of an Intermediate skill level. You’ll see that we took a line that was more curved and progressive. This allows you to build and carry speed, minimise slip angle (the difference between where your car chassis is pointing and the angle you’re going over the sand), and take a controlled line onto the ridge. You can’t beat the physics in the end. Technique beats power every time. If you watch even some of the Dakar race footage, you’ll occasionally see guys with 1000hp cars attempt a line on a soft face and get nowhere. You really don’t need much in the way of angle, sand softness (ie softly packed and loose), and tyre contact area before you’ll simply never be able to gain the traction to start and sustain a climb. At that point you’re just a fast moving bunch of different vectors between speed, momentum, gravity and slip angle. You only need to make a small error and it’s over. Does look great though, as most stunts do…but to me that’s not the essence of desert driving, and not what our drives are about.

The past few months there has been some really awesome and innovate drives on the calendar which should be celebrated and recognized! We are getting access to some great stuff vs just bashing the dunes!!! (Of course there is more than enough bashing for the bashing crew ) The fewbie mountain drive I sadly tried but failed to make! Weekday quickies The night drives - looking forward to this years Ramadan specials and joining - overcome the fear of the night) The scenic/ across several emirates drives The recent 2 day trip to LIWA (I will aspire to reach fewbie+ this year to be in contention to join for the next trip) The 100km newbie challenge this weekend! Awesome drive!!! The camping gear sit down! Fantastic idea! Lens lovers! Remember seeing a picnic and sunset drive combo recently! Some extreme adventure for the intermediates - not for me... but what a drive, looking at the photos! Development of new leads with new ideas!!! Did I seeing we are getting into some dancing A few hikes with drive combo's I am sure I missed a few of the great drives - tag them in the comments!!! I am one of the quitter members sitting comfortably in the middle of the convey and enjoying his memberships, (not as regularly as I would like 😊). However, felt something trigger my reaction this morning after seeing again some exciting drives lined up this weekend! Let the innovation continue!!! What you’re seeing on the calendar is the result of many people quietly putting in effort week after week. The variety you mentioned is exactly what happens when passionate people are given space to contribute ideas and take ownership. Different styles, formats, and concepts are born from various personalities and experiences, and that diversity is one of Carnity’s biggest strengths. Equally important are the members who show up, support, participate, and share feedback. A strong community is built not just by those leading at the front, but also by those enjoying the journey, learning, and encouraging others along the way. You definitely should! Shared adventures are the best adventures after all, and the campfire atmosphere is great also. Ask @khurramm as well, ever since a family drive in Lisali he has a small co-driver that doesn’t want to miss any of the action.

I should start getting them on NB and FB drives to condition them. These epic drives with camping will create core memories.

@Soap def take the kids on a couple of NB and FB drives first to get them used to it.. and going for a camp afterwards mine have done quite a lot but still are absolutely exhuasted by the end of a 4hr drive and starting to get cranky 😅
