  1. Have you guys checked if it’s actually the driver creaking…? 😉

  2. In defence of the Jeep however…this run down to the star dunes led by @GauravSoni was by far one of the best drives I’ve ever done, in part because of the sheer sense of adventure in transforming my Jeep into what was basically a buggy and tearing into the desert. Trips like this help you overlook a lot of downsides!

  3. if I was buying again,.. I would still go for ranger. 😎 @Frederic is right,.. parts much more available for the Jeep(esp aftermarket accessories), but this is changing as more rangers get on the road and al tayer/ford are supporting parts better. I only had a 1 day wait for parts the last time i broke something. The CV axle is certainly the weak point compared to the solid axle... but i treat my car pretty harshly and it has held up mostly well to the punishment. I do get jealous when I see @ChrisW removing the roof and doors when driving his jeep though....😁 @JC_Eits actually fake news that i get crested on EVERY single drive... there has been one or two i have made it through without getting stuck 😜 TLDR; GET A RANGER!

  4. Blasphemy ! Who said RRs get crested on a regular basis ? Hard to believe! I love the fire you are throwing and to your point i think the FJ is a very very solid third position. The new King is still sitting on the throne until a new vehicle comes out. I am getting my popcorn now @Noufal and @_Herman_ your points gave me an idea. I will do a THEMED drive to debate the Offroading King over breakfast. I just need a couple of weeks as i am tied down for 2 weeks. Keep an eye out for this drive. We will finish the debate there

  5. Just adding some fuel to the fire here, for entertainment purposes (but with a grain of truth to it): Whilst the Ranger is crested and the Jeep is getting new parts fitted, the FJ just drives you home. Or -if so desired- over the next dune. (And modding options are endless, off-the-shelf superchargers included) (but in all honesty, I do somehow find myself wanting a short(ish) wheelbase 1st Gen 6.2 V8 F150 Raptor)

  6. Jeep is a way of life. Ford Trucks? The only lifestyle I saw in Texas was people hanging rubber nut sacks from the tow hook. Hope this answers almost all 😁😁😁

  7. Interesting topic @Noufal. it is a can of worms you are opening since Wrangler owners will have a hard time accepting that there is a new King of the Dune in the desert :). That being said, my only feedback to you is that while i agree that Wranglers have more "Off-the-Shelf" customization options available in the market, nothing stops you from customizing an RR. You can simply conceptualize, design and execute as you wish in Dubai. You are only limited by your imagination. Happy to show you a customized RR next time we meet and maybe that would help you see the Art of the Possible for the RR. One question for you, any specific reason why are you are lost between the two, personally from a performance point of view, i do not see a basis for comparison as they are 2 completely different vehicles with different points of strength. i think it all comes down to what do you do more: driving on dunes or rock crawling. I could be over simplifying it and ill wait for others to comment but i think that is what it comes down to.

  8. Jeep vs RR is basically choosing between a mountain goat and a caffeinated cheetah. Both are built to get you into places you probably shouldn’t be, they just disagree on the correct speed to do it. A Wrangler is the classic “proper 4x4” vibe. It’s happiest when things get slow, technical, and awkward—rocks, ruts, steep climbs, and that whole crawl-and-commit lifestyle, but also very capable in the sand. It also has that weirdly addictive Jeep charm: doors off, roof off, endless customization, and the sense that you’re driving something that belongs in the bush more than the mall parking lot. It’s not always the calmest thing on-road, but it feels purpose-built and unapologetic. @ChrisW can attest to this... A RR is more like a factory-built off-road weapon you can live with every day. It’s comfortable, planted, and thrives on the fast, rough stuff—dunes, gravel, desert tracks, corrugations—where you want the suspension to do the thinking while you just point it at the horizon and grin. It’s also a “truck” in the practical sense, which is either a huge win or an annoyance depending on whether you like the truck-bed lifestyle. @Luke K P will also say that the Raptor is most at home on the top of a crest, while providing adequate "shovel-time" for everyone around. So yeah… both are solid choices. The deciding factor is simple and annoyingly adult; what is the purpose of the vehicle for you, don't rush into any decisions, do tons - and I mean TONS of research to make an informed decision.

  10. Great topic, I love the RR for its comfort, suspension, power & on road handling. The last may seem strange or not very significant but daily driving it on the road with great handling and minimal road noise is a big plus The downside for me mainly are of course the longer wheelbase and the CV joints. The former takes some attention to avoid cresting and bottoming out while the latter has made me far more cautious e.g coming over a dune and having to immediately make a sharp turn where the car frontal weight transfers to a single wheel My front left side makes a creaking sound during these faster descents and turns, I may have to ask tech to take a look at the joints Jeeps are awesome and if I hadn’t been advised by friends due to reliability issues I would definitely have gone with the 392

  11. As you guys will know I drive often with @Luke K P here in AD, both for Carnity and we’ve done a number of recce drives up here in the evenings etc, so I’ve watched both our cars tackling a lot of terrain back to back. I can appreciate the RR’s cabin, bed capacity and power. It’s a car you can easily cruise at 140 on the highway in peace, and on the sand you can push hard. You can take a lot out with you easily. I feel the Jeep can get in and out of places that many cars can struggle with - with a small lift and some suspension changes, it rides the sand incredibly well. The breakaway angles, clearance and articulation are difficult to beat. I feel the Raptor is more biased towards being a reliable road car, and the Jeep is slightly compromised by being a pure 4x4. The Raptor’s front IFS is a weak point, and it has a comparatively small fuel tank. Clearance can be an issue as well. The Jeep’s steering car be vague on the road, and you have to very carefully manage your speed/momentum/power on the sand to get the most out of the 3.6L normally aspirated engine. The Jeep can be prone to niggling maintenance issues, but the large availability of OEM and aftermarket parts, and capable local garages, means most issues are an easy fix. On the road I think the Raptor is easily the best choice. As a daily driver with occasional off-roading I would also pick the Raptor. For off-roading I am torn…I regard my Jeep as a great project car and a capable off-roader…I’d love more power and space too… In the end you won’t be making a mistake either way. Go drive both and get the one that makes you smile. …I’ve got photographic evidence…

  12. @Noufal I always switch to 'drive-mode = 'BAJA'' and just keep it in D always. update: once in baja mode you need to press and hold for at least 15 seconds the traction control button to fully disable all electronics related to traction AND stability control. You Do Not need a kill switch once engaged like this. ABS is disabled, and curtain airbags etc are disabled. the baja mode holds the gear you are in, and ensures that turbos are spooled up and ready to just GO as soon as you touch the pedal. just point the direction you want to go, and hit the accelerator.

  15. @Eddie-Dune-Glider i have the exact same creaking noise from drivers side suspension since day 1 with the car. no amounts of grease, silicone lube, or suspension component changes have removed it. if you find a solution let me know pls

  16. I have a suggestion @Noufal why not go with a Gladiator. It's the perfect equation. Jeep + Truck. 🤔

  20. Hey JC you did help me but again put in a loop of debate. this is be my second car mostly for my self as i have other car for the family. it is indeed a hassle to park at the mall and elsewhere. jeep with endless customization is most tempting as it will keep you busy for most of the time while the RR is limited in upgrades. jeep as a dealer for service is good and customer friendly. one more thing i heard is a concern. KILL Switch can be installed by dealer and warranty is not void while ford wont add kill switch and if we add it elsewhere the warranty is void. @Eddie-Dune-Glider @Luke K P can you comment on this.
