Dear Carnity Community. The news of my promotion has arrived while I have been busy with moving to a new location, so I couldn't reply sooner. I have moved just 200 meters from my previous house, and I can't imagine how crazy it might have been having to go any further than this 😁. First and foremost, my thoughts go to @Gaurav, who had guided and mentored me from my very first encounter with Carnity, always being a model of kindness, patience, leadership and support throughout every interaction we ever had. He will be missed always, and each of us will carry the memory of him close to our heart. I am very grateful to @Frederic and @Srikumar for the promotion. I wasn't expecting it and am greatly honored by it. I first met a much smaller group of Carnity in 2018 as they were exiting a drive at December 2nd Cafeteria, and I was entering a UAE desert for the first time, with my new used stock FJ, and they kindly help me deflate. Sometime later I started joining them in their Qudra's drives. I recall that today's structure was just starting to be defined, and that my Fewbie promotion came as a big surprise, without having asked for it, but as the result of a common decision of the "older guys". I was hooked to Carnity's community of drivers during Covid, when it was the first, and for a long time, the only club to resume off-roading. I am sure that the leadership on this difficult but conscious decision came most of all from Gaurav. From that time, I have driven almost every weekend (and several weekdays), with a desire to always explore and find new places or things to do, which, again, Carnity allowed me to do almost freely (within the Club's guidelines). So here we are: I'd like to send my most heartfelt congratulations to my fellow new Crew members, @Asif Hussain and @M.Seidam. Couldn't deserve it more, having shown both the highest amount of leadership, and a curiosity for exploration that I surely share with them. And, truly, a huge thanks to every single Carnity member with whom I have driven before becoming a "leader", and who since joined any one of my drives. Without each of you I would not have been able to reach this goal. We share many memories and experiences that will always be valuable and precious. The desert is the only space on hearth (possibly with the oceans) that brings selflessness, brotherhood and respect to the forefront. Let's keep experiencing it toghether! See you all soon out there.

So much memories...

It’s been a while since I posted on Carnity. I still can’t believe Gaurav is gone. I was just talking to him recently. When I first heard the news I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. We were the same age and he was taken from us far too soon. When I first came to Dubai more than 10 years ago, Gaurav was one of the first people I made friends with. We bonded over the love of cars and I eventually became involved with Carnity writing articles, how to diagnose and fix your car yourself, how to save money, things like that. When Carnity moved more to the 4x4 side of things, I kinda fell away. I’m more of a track and racing guy. Off roading scares the hell outta me and I have massive respect for what you guys do. I spent many hours in the garage with Gaurav, working on his Ship of Theseus Pajero, rebuilding engines, raising and lowering suspension, fitting coolers for random systems, discussing upgrades, and more importantly, discussing life over a few beers. He was always someone I could ask for an opinion on whatever crazy situation I was planning on getting into next and he would always give me an unbiased opinion. I have so many stories involving Gaurav, some good, some funny, but never bad. I will never forget when he got his new Range Rover and he wanted to show me the radar cruise control and we nearly ran into the back of a Nissan Sunny. Or when he showed me how to fishtail in a Mustang and we ended up facing backwards on Al Khail road. Fun times I will never forget. I will be out of the country this weekend but rest assured, I will be with you all in spirit. I am so happy that you guys will continue with Carnity. This is Gaurav’s legacy. DRIVE DESCRIPTION-WHAT TO EXPECT This drive is dedicated to bringing as many Carnity Community (existing or former) members together as possible to pay our respects to our dearest Gaurav — our mentor, founder, and true friend, who left us far too soon and whose absence has created a deep void in our hearts. Starting from Faqa, we aim to gather as one large convoy and follow an easy, gentle track through the Marmoom Reserve, with occasional breaks along the way. We also recommend adequate protection from the sun and closed shoes. 🧰 OFFROAD GEARS Tire deflator and Tire pressure gauge. Air compressor. A programmable Walkie-talkie radio. Off-road safety flag.
