  1. In my year and half in RAK Ive seen one electric car, a Tesla with a Dubai plate.
  2. Jeez just when you thought they couldn't get any fuglier. I think I would commit suicide before I got behind the wheel of that abomination!
  3. Nope no clue who Ari is and what a climbdance. And each to his own I guess. These French POS's are as Treks put it have the same amount of appeal to me as a toaster or a fridge. Although I think my toaster is better looking than all the French crap posted in this thread, and more useful too.
  4. Yeah but you look as cool as a used diaper driving around in those.
  5. By that I meant old Land Rovers being hard to work on. And parts not being available. Both of them dont apply here, as in Dubai. As for being white goods I have the same feeling about most cars. Think Ive said that few times here already Specially jap crap ecoboxes and small to mid size suv's but not only limited to jap crap.
  6. Yeah thats what I said, rust isn't a problem here for any car. Too late for a build thread, bought and built more than 10 years ago and let go around a couple back. Wouldn't be fun one anyway. Didn't need much anyways. Just a 2" coil spring lift, camel cut and some front bumper trimming just for looks. And it was good to go. Oh and bigger 270/65 tyres, hence the need for a camel cut
  7. Ive had plenty of Land Rovers and none of mine rusted only the body panels excluding the roof are aluminum rest is regular metal including the frame, but rust in general isnt a problem in these parts. My 2nd series one was the car I had the longest and put a Ton of clicks on it, drove it 400kms daily from dxb to AD twice a day. Last I remember it was close to 350k kms I bought it at 170k kms for a measly 8k also here parts are plenty and cheap and its a old school truck with no electric nonsense and very easy to work on. I did 90% work on it myself. SO Treks rant doesnt apply here. Series 2 1st gen not so good because BMW fucked it up with their shitty over engineering by incorporating useless tech where none was needed. Like getting rid of the center diff lock feature and replacing it with shitty traction control which was always broken. Even though the transfercase had the ability to lock BMW just removed the linkage to it. Many owners have reverse engineered it by fitting one from a series 1 disco. For me though Big Red ( my disco ) was the most reliable and cheap and cheap to fix car I ever owned. The most expensive item I ever bought and fitted was a used transfer case for 350dhs which me and my bud swapped out in a 3-4hours.
  8. Nope never had one. My Dutch neighbor's girlfriend had a red one who asked me to sell it for 4k. After he had spent around that much fixing an AC issue by changing some crap near the transmission lever a few months ago. If you think back my only car which was a non 4x4 which I ever owned was my first car. 1992 Civic accord, which I drove on export plates for three months and sold it. My Dad had imported a Station wagon Ford Taurus and a VW Golf from Japan which he let me drive until he sold them. And all of this was before I met you. So Ive owned only one non SUV in my entire life.
  9. By throwing enough money and parts at it. You can turn any car into a power and handling beast so thats not the point of the discussion. Point is out of the factory French cars sucked ass. Not a single one to date I can say, yeah I wouldn't mind having that. And I'm the kind of guy who doesn't really care about maintenance, fuel consumption or resale value. Being a long term owner of many Land Rovers is a testament to that. If I like it, it appeals to me, has character and I can afford it, then I'm getting it. And a French car has never done that for me.
  10. You forget. I owned a jeep once, even if for a very brief period. 3 months I think.
  11. So an off road vehicle that catches fire when driven off road. LOOOOL
  12. From all the jap craps out there, this is no 1. The Mitsu Mirage/Attrage. Even Doug agrees No 2 : The Nissan Sunny 3 : Fiesta/Figo
  13. Ah the Super Lift Kit Extreme SWB Edition of the Pajero. Tested to 1hp at the hoofs
  14. This guys jeep is pretty much modded for off roading if you watch his channel its built up quite a lot for overlanding with all the plates and guards so the bush and scrub theory is out of the window. Its just a jeep doing its thing, which we dont understand Also if you watch the complete video he says everything was normal, no lights on the dash, gauges all normal. So no burst coolant hoses or toasting the motor etc etc. He's not a newbie by any measure and done a lot of long overland off-road trips with this jeep. Videos on his channels and all. So yeah confirms it no brush or scrub, just jeep being jeep.
  15. Spontaneously catching fire and burning to a crisp toast Watch from 11.00 onwards
  16. For a time Pug's were popular in Northern Africa in places like Egypt, Morroco etc etc and mostly used as Taxi's. Bet you could still find a few there today also.
  17. Do they swap batteries or recharge during pitstops. Can image 4hr pitstops to recharge batteries! Lol
  18. Outside of Europe no one really cares about these French POS's. And there is a reason for that. And dont say Africa they dont like the newer one either
  19. Yeah don't expect to see many Peugeot and Citroen fans in these part.
  20. Man UK made some seriously crappy cars during the 60s 70s. No wonder all those companies are dead today. The only thing cool I can thnk of from that era is tge Jensen Interceptor
  21. Wasn't this what the original Bat mobile based on by Barris
  22. So now mustang being rebadged as Peugeot in Europe?
  23. Been fascinated with the Aston Martin Lagonda ever since I first saw it in the early 1990s The hard edged angles, the three headlight per side cluster and the all digital dash and single spoke steering I think its awesome looking. The inside is just as angular as the outside
  24. Dont bring conversion rates into the equation otherwise a taxi ride in Zimbabwe probably costs a billion Zimbabwean dollars
  25. One thing I do is , its a bad idea to buy a Tesla, not because its a bad car but because of the company and CEO treats their customers like shit. First you couldn't even buy a single screw and install it yourself, Only Tesla sells tesla parts and no one else ( hence the big market in salvage Teslas to be used as parts ) and all work to be carried out only by tesla approved shops and last I heard now they are saying all body work will only be done at the Tesla factory. So if you ding your car, you have to send the car to the Tesla factory in california to get it repaired, not to mention when in 3-5 years you need to replace your entire battery, thats going to cost you your left arm and right testicle. Too expensive and too much of a hassle to be driving.
