Only reason Im asking is after 15 years of brand loyalty to the Land Rover mark maybe try something else for a change. And also Ive owned and driven pretty much to my hearts content all their vehicles which I wanted to. So after twp Discovery series 1, 4 p38 range rovers and 1 L322 range rover maybe time to test something else. I still want the current L405 gen Range Rover but thats still out of reach for me. And also Armadas and QX56s have massively dropped in prices like all cars have and within reach now. So maybe its time

Has anybody have personal long term with this car. Im starting to fancy it more and more day by day specially the Infinity version the QX56. I know how the car drives and performs on and off road. Since I was part of hot weather and desert testing team here in Liwa. The beast of the V8 takes it as far as anything can go, and for being such a big beast its very zippy 0-100 of 7 ish seconds and drives like a much smaller car. And offroad it does have it limitations due to Its size and height and prefers big rolling dunes rather than small technical ones. I prefer the 1st gen pre facelift due to having factory steel front bumper Although Ive heard good stuff about its relaibilty and longevity. Just wanted to know if anybody has had 1st hand long term experience with it. Some pics of it from my time with in Liwa

Chevy Cruze 2013 Model resale value
desertdude replied to PAIS's topic in Chevrolet Cruze Forum in UAE
If its in good nic, around 15,000 -
This has to be the most cringe worthy shameless plug EVER! My BS meter was tipping the scales on this one! Everyone gave this thing which looks like was made for a low budget sci fi movie from the 80s a good head start and just let it "win" Height adjustable suspension my @$$, you can clearly see the leaf springs on the rear, 6x6 also my @$$ you can see only the last wheel spin on the take off. No look inside of how the interior looks, no look at the engine, the door is opened from such an angle so that no one even gets a peak at the inside. Its "smoking other cars" 🙄 Seem likes its constructed on a mitsubishi canter pickup chassis or maybe even a Ford F350, and you can only imagine the credibility of the company when they have this schmuck plugging their cars on his YT vlogs! My apologies to anyone who is fasting and watches this, preferably watch it after Iftar so you can curse your heart out ! A lot more cringe here

14 Car companies controls the automotive world
desertdude replied to Gaurav's topic in General Discussions
One of my best buds had an Evora, never really liked it. But then again I really don't like so called super and hypercars. More than cars I feel they are more of a tool for engineers to wave their dicks around to show theirs is bigger to other exotic manufacturers.- 15 replies

I have a feeling the author of this video is pretty uninformed and most of the advantages he lists are rather due to modern systems like traction control and stability control. Most earlier AWDs like the Honda CRV RAV 4 relied on a Torsen differential to mechanically engage when it detected slippage in the rear wheela. Like a LSD diff and much like a LSD over time that got worn out effectively leaving these cars as FWDs and 99% of the owners never reall went off the beaten path to realize that. Now most decent new 4x4s are full time AWD along with the option of Selecting 4x4 or they have the option of 2wd,Auto and 4x4. with ABS, traction and stability control they work just as described in the video. AND even today most of these AWDs use Torsen Diffs to save weight and costs rather than a transfer case like 4x4s, so even with all the gadgetry eventually they will turn in to FWDs unless the diff is serviced or replaced

It literally takes billions to design, r&d and manufacturer vehicles hence no surprise there aren't many. Just like commercial aircraft.- 15 replies

Oh then that is truly sad they have stopped offering the V6 as well as the 2door. Still should be alright off road with a 164hp on a relatively small and light body and being a proper 4x4.

My answer was strictly based on the comfort and long commute part since I know how important that is because there was a time I was doing 400kms daily. Other than that if your current car is a Cruze then I say go for it. My only rationale was if you are coming from a luxury sedan to suv to a zuk then you will be disappointed. Pretty decent car, looks good get the V6 plenty of power at 220 plus HP and unlike other crossovers this one is a proper offroader rear wheel drive when not in 4x4 and low ratio ration transfer case and a lockable diff im the fully loaded version. Unlike others in the segment with front wheel drive and some fancy part time 4wd. And with a 7 year warranty I wouldnt be worried about reliability anyways.

A whole lotta .........

I would say skip it solely based on the fact you have long daily commute, get something bigger and more comfortable. But that depends also on what car you are using now as you daily driver. Whether the zuk is a step forward or backwards.

p38 1999 Range Rover - Coolant Tank Explodes

That was just an additional tip for better AC performance. Nothing to do with the problem at hand. That was covered in the first part of my post.- 7 replies

p38 1999 Range Rover - Coolant Tank Explodes
desertdude replied to Jeh's topic in Range Rover Forum in UAE
Sorry bro sold my sold my last P38 this Janaury the one in my avatar. And wont be getting another one anytime soon, so no pics. Its the AC receiver drier some call it filter. Its like a metal pepsi can with pipes coming out of it. On the side there is a pressure switch, Unplug it, it has only two wires behind it. The short it with a paper clip or even a short piece of stripped wire. Tape it up nicely so no dirt and water gets into in case you want to plug it back in the future . You'll also find the description, location and picture in your RAVE manual, so look it up there.- 7 replies

p38 1999 Range Rover - Coolant Tank Explodes
desertdude replied to Jeh's topic in Range Rover Forum in UAE
First of all just a little pedantry. Its a 1998. It might be registered as a 1999 but its a 98 because of having a GEMS engine. Even my 98 was registered as a 99. Anywhoo. These bottles are know to get old and split at the seam although personally have never experienced such in the 4 p38s Ive owned. Although Gauravs cut and paste is valid but Im thinking a hose would have let go way before pressure build up let to the bottle splitting Also it could be a combination of both. Bottle was weak and pressure just accelerated the process. The radiator is a know weak point in these cars due to its very thin pipes which easily get clogged. For now I would replace the bottle and keep a hawks eye on the temp gauge. I wouldl also invest in a cheap scanner to get live data on the temp. The temp needle is highly inaccurate. By the time the needle leaves the 12 o clock position and starts moving towards the red. Its almost too late anyways. Also I would check my viscous fan. Easy to do. Look it up and also see if the condenser aux fans are coming on. A little mod on these cars is to unplug and. Then short the pressure switch using a paper clip going in to the AC filter located behind the driver side foglight. it has access from under the car. With this everytime your compressor kicks in the aux fan also kick in. This general gives you better AC performance anyways since the condenser is always cool.- 7 replies

I am more excited to seem my old college Marshall aka Mashal than the rolls, Havent seen him since I left safaris. Spent nearly a decade working along side him. And this video takes me back to the good old times when we would do such projects very regularly and helped break the routine of daily safaris. Most memorable events I can remember is the testing and the launch and then travel club for the Porsche Cayenne, The Land Rover G4 challenge and Jeep jamborees among numerous other events and trips. And yes Saleem the rolls would circles around your Rav specially with someone like Marshal behind the wheel. Obviously you wont see stuff which will hurt or damage the cars. I remember the guy from Porsche having a minor heart attack everyday when atleast one client ripped off the bumper of a cayenne. I did many such things in my past life. Any terrain or course is made or selected to show the strength of whatever car we are working with while hiding its weakness. Thats just how adv and promo works and more than enough for a layman. As for the Rolls I like it but then again Ive become too soft and like big and confy machines. Gone are the days I could hop along all day long in a cruiser pickup with stiffened leafsprings.

Its a 10dhs fine and relax, I know a guy whos been driving his expired lexus for over a year. I once forgot actually too lazy as I was busy for 8 -10 months. Just went and registered it without any issues. Not saying do it, but it really isnlt a big deal even if you get caught driving with expired tags, Just show them your failed RTA paper saying you are on the case, Dubai police is usually nice and dont create too much of a hassle. On my other discovery I was pulled over because I was double parked ( waiting for the mrs on the metro!) Car was expired for 4 month. He askes why I told him I took it for passing but they failed it, why he asked, I said steel bullbar, which center did you go. Me the one in Ghusais. Oh dont go there they are very strict he said, go to the one barsha. Then we had a little chat and he said technically youve been here all your life and you know the rules very well and I should have your car towed but I will let you go with a verbal warning. I guess knowing Arabic really helps out in such situations but hey if youve been here for over 5 years and cant speak it, then its no ones fault but your own.

Buying a used car with outstanding finance
desertdude replied to vanhack's topic in General Discussions
Yean I'm with sertac on this one. Place is crawling with Tiidas, not worth the hassle or the risk, unless you can get the bank NOC on the spot. I've known friends who have done this and the bank always gave the letter within the hour or so, but this was quite sometime back. Dunno about now. -
Well Ive driven as far as Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi to show a car. Anyways things to note is pics of cars with no number plates or blue export plates. Anyways I just scan the advs everyday and see if car is not being sold for a long time and if he is dropping prices and so on. For me cash is king, I never discuss price over phone, msg or mail, at best I'll ask if there is any wiggle room. Then I get cash with me, for example if its priced at 20. I'll. Take 20 with me because of its a good deal I dont want to miss it fpr a few 1000 dhs but I will keep aside say 15. Go have a look at the car, be nice and courteous, test drive and all. Then if I think its a good car. I lay the groundwork for my shtick. Take out the 15k from my pocket. Lay it on the hood and tell him look man the car is great and I really like it, but its got xyz or i need to spend abc to get it right. So look here Im right here right now with cash so you know Im a serious buyer. And we will go transfer it right now. You wont have to attend any more calls, no more showings, no more tire kicker test drives. No taking to mechanics to check, No more Ill think about it and call you tomorrow etc etc. Straight up deal in a hour I drive away with a car and you with all that cash in your pocket. And 9 times out of 10 this works. Just last month I purchased a car for my friend which was initially advertised for 22k. I told him to bring cash and I'll do the talking. In less than an hour we were at Tasjeel paying 16k for it. Before that same shtick 11k car for 6k. And when selling. Good nice clean daylight pics are a must. A good detailed description including at least one thing that is wrong not right with it. And I never post my phone number. If someone is interested in buying your car for 1000s of dhs Im sure he can send you an email or msg. Otherwise you will be hounded all day long with. Habibi blease what is last brice on the phone.

First of all I looove windows 10 great OS. So much so Ive been exclusively using Windows phones since the first imate came out. Anyways since I use my my PC for sound production, mixing and mastering. I use this all the time to reroute inputs and outputs between my sound cards. Its worth a shot to download sonething called virtual cable. Its free. Then internally you can reroute sound from your dummy soundcard output to your actual soundcards input, just like patching guitar pedal from your guitar to pedal to amp but virtually. Dunno it might work it might not, you have nothing to lose

Ford to kill off all cars apart from Mustang
desertdude replied to Barry's topic in Ford General Discussion Forum in UAE
I read this a few days back as well. And AFAIK its only for the US market where Ford has always mostly been known for their Trucks and muscle cars. And now their sales are largely from that sector. In Europe, its dinky car heaven and dont think they will. Until very recently you could buy those dinky fords only in Europe and primarily the UK. Didnt work outin the US, the Americans just like here like their Fords big and grunty. Although Ford is making a working class comeback in UAE market with their cheap made in India Figos and Ecosports. And for the cheap money I dont think they are bad cars for the lower middle to middle class as cheap transport. -
Sure thing, look up Ampex in DIP, they are AC specialists and thats the only thing they do and charges are very reasonable. Im on my phone otherwise I would have posted their link. But google Ampex DIP and it should pop right up. From what I gather, having gone through a huge AC situation last year in my old range rover. And reading all the information providee I think you have a weak blower motor or you blower motor resistor sonetimes called the final stage resistor which controls fan speed is on its way out. Its located behind the glove box on the XJ and is easily accesible and not a hard DIY job. Ductimg behind the dash could also be an issue but easy to solve. Turn motor to full speed, If you hear the blower blowing hard like a mini windstorm going on in your dashboard but no or low air from the vents then you have a leak. I had similar issue in my ride and guess what I fixed the ducting issue with.......duct tape!
