  1. The Land Cruiser does not use coil overs, it has a combination of separate coils and shocks at the rear and torsion rods and shocks up front. For a good mix of on and off road driving, You can use HD coils at the back and torque up the torsion rods up front, leaving the shocks alone
  2. "About the power, it is not more than enough especially for those sand hills" People who know me, know this is true. So I'm not just making this up Earlier my profession was that of a Desert Safari guide, which I did for almost a decade, and used the same car you are thinking off, first was a 2000 GXR LC100 series with a manual transmission and later a 2003 LC 2003 with an Auto,So I know these cars pretty well and big part of my day was spent driving them and on off days in the shop with them, fully loaded with 6 pax, full two tanks of fuel and very basic suspension modification ( heavy duty coil in the rear and torqued stock torsion bars up front ) it had still enough power to go everywhere and I drove in almost every desert patch in this country from Liwa to Khatim. Also mind you these were not bought brand new off the showroom floor, but bought second on the cheap with over 100k kms on the clock, never opened stock engine with not even a CAI or modded exhaust. So to answer your question, yes it does have enough power.
  3. "The compulsory condition for maintaining motor vehicles at automobile dealers' workshops has been abolished ,to the convenience of car owners with warranty intact. Motorists can get their cars serviced at other car repair and maintenance workshops, ministry of economy announced on Tuesday." http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/transport/service-location-shouldn-t-affect-car-warranty-in-uae-1.1636184
  4. Sweet ride! Have always loved the old jags, almost even bought one once. Unfortunately I don't think anybody other than the dealers has the level of jaguar specific diagnostic equipment available to unlock/sync your replacement ECU model with the other bits and bobs on the jag. I would suggest check online to see if anyone offers these services in the UK, usually requires sending the ECU to them, or look for diagnostic equipment thats able to unlock and sync Jag ECUs A rudimentary google search lead me to this https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xj8-xjr-x350-x358-28/re-programming-ecu-139181/ http://www.drewtech.com/mongoose/jlr.html
  5. Dude, a land cruiser already has more than enough power for a teen who can't even drive on the roads legally yet. First of all what you want to do is illegal and a fine-able offence so don't expect too much help on an open forum and secondly Derick is correct, all those "arab dudes" you are talking about spend small fortunes and countless hours in garages modifying their cars, a lot of trial and error is also involved with a lot of blown engines, transmissiosn etc etc. If only if it were that easy by just slapping on a junked turbo from a scrapyard. I wouldn't even let my kid have something like a land cruiser as a first car, I'd let him ding about in a jap ecobox for a year or so to learn the ropes and get a few fender benders out of the way first before getting him something halfway decent. So my sincere advise, 1st get a license, then learn how to drive and get comfortable with it and then maybe, just maybe even think about mods like turbos and sh!t. An over enthusiastic kid who grew up play Gran Turismo and Forza, already talking about boosting a car he cannot even drive yet, you know is not going to end well. Too many kids already dying or ending up crippled on the roads here already because of their love for speed who end up driving car with way more power they can handle, so think real hard if you want to become just another statistic
  6. Its basically how most of the cars fuel level sensor is, its basically like the float you have on your toilet flush tank.
  7. DIY for free, invest in a spanner set which will pay you back many times over.
  8. First of all how are you even driving when the legal age limit for a drivers license is 18yrs old!
  9. LOL...that much is true, Im more of a spritual offroader sage now. But we did have plenty of good drives toghter
  10. For some reason I thought the thread about gears as in Tranmission!!
  11. Well I reread your original post and getting custom made seat covers good AND cheap is not going to be possible.
  12. This was a very serious recall thats why the called you, otherwise they dont bother and secretly do the repairs when you give the car in for service. One of my previous range rovers I bought had complete service history right down to ashtray bulb light replacement from the dealer. Then I looked up all the recalls for that model off the net and went and had a look at my car everything was dome right down to adding an extra nut to the motorized driver seat rail which might cause a slight rocking when braking or accelerating hard, but no mention of any recall work done in the service history. Now I dunno wheter thats a good thing or bad. Being so secretive about it or just going on and doing the repairs and mods aa needed. But what if a person never visited the dealer or stopped visiting the dealer, then what?
  13. Its a 400dhs fine from what I can remember
  14. Instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just post this video here.
  15. Well only superman can tell you that difference, maybe he meant 2001 and above because I would go for 2001 and above because in 2001 they upgraded the engine to a more powerful one, could be thats when they started the 3.5. Usually common sense dictates to get the latest model of any generation as possible unless there were some drastic changes for the worse, which the post 2001 pathfinder R50 series does no exhibit. From what I gather from 2001 to end of production in 2004 it remained unchanged. Unless Superman chime in and put forward a plausible explaination as why only the 2001 and nothing else, if thats what he meant in the first place
  16. Good, atleast youve narrowed it down to two contenders. Out of the two I would choose the Pathfinder, first of all tons of them around and pretty cheap.Parts new and used are cheaper and more widely available than the jeros. Also no need to worry about whacking bumpers. Pretty much drive it off road in stock condition Also if you can score the 3.5 liter version instead of the 3.0 that thing is surprisingly fast and powerful for an older 4x4 with a 0-100 of just over 7 seconds! Ive driven it and was quite impressed with the power and acceleration, Have a chat with RD when he gets back as he drives one currently. Also drive as many as you can before so you can see and feel the difference
  17. Its says it confirms to gulf and saudi standards to the current date ( as in date of manufacture ) Vehicle number ( Chassis ) XXXXXXXXXXXX Type of Car. Tyoe 4 something ( could understand more than that) Waliyat Muthahida Al Amrikiya ( United States Of America )
  18. Why do I have a feeling that very soon you will post a link to a site selling keychains ?
  19. Ah an old stunt recreated from he Bond movie, the man with the golden gun. But kinda a funny and deceptive in a way trying to say you can buy a car off the showroom floor, do a couple of barrel rolls and be perfectly fine and drive off into the night. Kinda back in the day when Pajero use to advertise itself as the best 4x4 because it won the Paris to Dakkar rally!
  20. Duh ! The Xterra like a lot of Japanese Vehicles is/are exclusively manufactured in the US, and the reg card states where the car is manufactured not who owns the company that manufactured it and also reg cards don't mention GCC or Non GCC specs. Armada, Xterra and Sequoia among many others were only manufactured in The Americas. You won't find a Japanese made Xterra and you'll only ever find a made in Thailand Fortuner P.S : And a odometer in Kms is 90% surefire way to check if its GCC specs, although the rare 10% chance its a Canadian import who also use Kms but then all stickers will be in English and French
  21. I keeo it simple Range Rover Key with an official Range Rover Keychain and house key Kia....seriosuly? Thats like loving beige paint, oh well different strokes for different folks
  22. consumer level gps are not that accurate but pretty close. You do get pro gps units whose only task is to calculate speed, used for things like authenticating land speed records and all. You might have seen them in shows like Top Gear where they are accurately trying to measure speed. One episode that does come to mind is where Capt Slow is trying to set the fastest production car recird in a Bugatti
  23. There was an article about a year back of I remember correctly about this, but I think that scheme has gone the way of the Dodo. Even if they tried it almost an impossible and gargantuan task and almost no way to enfore it which I guess why it was put on ice.
