  1. Reliable, Expert, Experienced, Best, Trustworthy, Competent - These words doesn't go well in garage industry. I have recently suffered from "so-called" experts with 25 years experience, who cannot do transmission swap job professionally and left with leaking seal (twice), shaft cover grinding noise (twice). I have to visit them 3 times to receive a patch up job with tons of humiliations and obligated behavior. Bottom line, don't fall for these words and fake reputation. Educating yourself little and on-site supervision goes a LONG WAY. For periodic maintenance any decent workshop near your place can do the job, depending on how specific you can be with list of things to be changed, replaced or repaired as per owners manual. Second ask them to put your old parts in the boot so you can be sure that they have changed it. The less you trust, the better it is. Third follow owners manual guidance as much as you can for fluids, specs, intervals irrespective of any garage or mechanic advices. Are you experiencing any specific issue on which you are confused or incline to head to reliable garage?

  4. Sorry but burnt clutch has nothing to do with 70k kms, it's about driving habit. We have seen people burning clutch on brand new car with 1000 kms on the clock. If you have been doing half clutch driving or recoveries that could be most likely possible too.
  5. When was your manual gearbox oil changed? Was it the right spec? Most imp. If in doubt, change the gear oil and filter, buy OEM gear oil from Jeep without trusting any einstein mechanic advise. Also research if your manual gear has a oil cooler. If it is seems adding small fan on cooler will help as you are experiencing this issue after couple of hours of offroading. Is this struggle in shifting is there on highway or in stop and go traffic?

  8. Almost all sat nav maps - Gaia, Google maps, ESRI, motionX update frequency range from 6 months to 2 years. These recent changes must be done with confusing wind patterns, climate change, or cloud seeding (maybe). In the pocket where I was stuck, as soon I climbed that ridge, I saw the opposite side ridge (180 degrees) collapsed like water - I have never seen that before. It means these dips and craters were recently formed, like a day or two old. I have never seen so many craters on top of big red in the last 15 years of my off-roading. Usually Big red mostly have one or two smooth bumps or stairs on top where we slow down and gas up again to climb.
  9. You are right, while Kashif was stuck 50 meters away from my car, he suggested the same lets call airlift for my car, lol. Winching out was 10% job and positioning the car and exiting was 90% task, due to tricky situation at the top that I have never seen so many craters on top of big red.
  10. Many thanks to @M.Seidam, @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ, and @Ashok chaturvedi for great teamwork, patience, and calm approach to managing such extreme recovery. Last night after the newbie drive, we ended up at Big red and in an attempt to make few climbs I went up to check the Big Red climb, and after 70% climb, that area has recently transformed with endless shallow dips, soft sand pockets, and unexpected slip face all around. After reaching a 70% climb, I continued upwards and was greeted with a dangerous dip in the soft pocket. I stopped my car on the ridge for few seconds before going in with LO gear and escape from the first hurdle. The next ridge greeted me with a similar and tighter soft sand pocket that I manage to dodge but the third one left no space inside the bowl to maneuver and we have to rest our case in front of mother nature. We spent more than 3 hours of impeccable coordination mobilizing help on top of big red by dodging all pockets. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ was really brave and courageous to drive in a blind state (sandstorm) with just radio instructions to climb while dodging all pockets and slip faces. After a few attempts, refusals, and stuck he finally positioned his wrangler in right place to inaugurate his 12 ton WARN winch, which he installed last week. After my car was out we still struggled a lot to escape the second bowl as now we have two cars with little to no hard patch to drive out. I deflated to 6 PSI, to make that track as solid as we can and manage to reverse out at 6K rpm with precise guidance from @M.Seidam before I dive into another pocket behind the reverse climb. We even get to try out @M.Seidam sand track when @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ wrangler was dancing with 2 wheels in the air on a soft pocket. Surprisingly sand tracks worked for the first time in the dunes, as we have tried and failed on more than 10 instances in the past with sand track which works wonders on beach sand due to solid ground underneath. A real good memorable night with insane challenges and a big achievement to remember forever.

  13. A few of us have received the Maliha fencing videos and images lately causing all sorts of rumors. Just like to clarify that only the Khatam entrance has been fenced. Fencing must be 5-10 km but far away from the loose gravel access track and finishes much before the Fossil rock climb. Please avoid going towards that area, as construction work is ongoing. Here is the approx. fenced area. GPS Location: https://goo.gl/maps/ZXvALk3nBN3aLzUn9
  14. Good you making an attempt to fix what can be fixed than just throwing it away. Way to go Richard. Jack losing oil have 50% chance of saving if oil was leaked due to storing upside down (not sideways). If you never kept it upside down, then you are right the internal seal must be replaced. I don't have any solution, but as we have tons of these jack in our club and last two week back I noticed @Zed and @Hasan Wahlan jack was leaking too and not lifting enough in Khatim. I feel someone with mechanical knowledge and free time should find a way to fix these leaking seal issue with hydraulic jack. Just a food for thought for someone having free time and curiosity to solve this problem. If anyone is interested here maybe Richard (in Dubai) OR Zed and Hassan (in Abu Dhabi) can leave the jack for experimentation.
  15. Here is the image that I fixed the tow point in 2019.
  16. As a first timer, we highly recommend driving alone for the first drive to avoid any distractions that can cause serious issue sometimes. From the second drive onward you are most welcome to bring your friends and family in your car as a passenger.
  17. Any garage doing MIG welding is totally acceptable for RTA test. Secondly you can freely weld the chassis where tow point ripped off and RTA will not cause any trouble. I have gone to this point in greater depth in 2019 and RTA senior inspector explanation was Chassis welding on load bearing area is mostly not acceptable. Anywhere else to recover the rusted part due to AC water dripping, tow point area which are not disturbing the vehicle structural integrity are completely fine with MIG welding. Then I have got MIG welding on front tow point mount on ladder frame as original was cracked due to regular use. After the welding that guy grind that area and spray coat with black paint. After that I have passed twice without any headache.
  18. Hi Faraz you dont need additional lights to follow in the convoy night drive, high beam headlight is sufficient and MUST, just make sure your car high beam are working. HI Alex, please join absolute newbie drive first and then you can join any night drive or day drive at newbie level of your choice. Absolute newbie drive is MUST for everyone joining Carnity Offroad Club to understand the convoy style driving, discipline and get safe introduction to sand driving in daylight first.
  19. White smoke is indeed serious, but @Gok Krish once coolant and oil mix due to head gasket failure there is no turning back to normal without opening the engine head. I really doubt head gasket has failed as Trading Ent boys would have spotted that with closed eyes. If you suspect this then as a first step you can ask agency to test coolant for hydrocarbon presence. Second you can ask them to do compression test or leak down test to check all cylinders health, pretty simple and mechanical test to eliminate engine head gasket failure doubt in less than 1 hour job. At least once you are sure that engine or gasket hasn't been shot then you know some sensor played the role (less critical).
  20. Such cut off and white smoke after restart seems some sensor freaked out randomly or with heat (possibly). Very surprise why dealership can't read the fault code. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ you also had a intermittent white smoke few months back at IM drive on super bowl, do you recall what did mechanic said?
