  1. @Barry can you teach that 50 nas trick and what parts it needs...
  2. that engine was a running one we started that half cut before buying it...and the important things like the seals and timing belt must be changed as its been a sitting thing for who know how long but about things like the turbo pipes and other switches which are original and working but are being changed for no apparent reason...
  3. its not about smart or not its about waiting for parts which is a roll of dice if it fits or not (he ordered a blowby valve which took 15 days to reach and in the end was not for his car)he also ordered a big ass radiator which was so big and had brackets different than the ones which was in both cars so it means that the radiator was also for a different car
  4. i once had a customer he got the car at 300k and ran it till 600k something without changing the timing belt when i opened the timing cover for replacing the seals i told him that he had to replace the belt too as it was oil socked...
  5. at one of the drives we had to fix the tyre on the rim and inflate it as @skumar83 was not having a proper spare tyre with him with everyones intervention and some hacking the spare was ready we can also get some input from our newest member @The Tyre Man
  6. whatever he brought we fixed the valve cover seals, main seal, ck pulley seal, cam seals, timing belt, aluminium cam sprockets, converter seals and output shaft seal but some parts he was going to get custom built but couldn't get them (turbo piping) so i convinced him to fix what we have at hand and use the car while those parts last and while the car is in use he can put things according to his taste and later upgrade it...its better have a running car then one stopped in workshop waiting for parts...
  7. i had a stuck similar to this but with rav4 and between 2 smaller dunes
  8. as some of you have seen it at the workshop i had taken a work of converting a sc300 2jzge to a 1jzgte turbo from a toyota soarer work turned out to be longer then expected because of some customer intervention but in the end has almost been complete here is the video of it fired up VID-20180426-WA0016.mp4
  9. if synthetic rope was better then all the wiench and cranes would be using it...we have to take the better with its flaws here guess it means the bleeding hands..we could use cover for the entire length but then it would be thicker then it already is..guess the only option remains is using good fat gloves then
  10. you have already written the points and wrote agreed in front of almost every point. then where we stand to bring out our weapons and fight through it..last question was asked by one who was open to both sides so he could collect side ideas...
  11. this post is already biased towards the auto...so its a uphill fight.... @desertdude well you cant say that a catastrophe with the manual one as eventually before the mechanical intervention (changing the clutch kit) you did drive out till the workshop without much assistance did you..? the last time i had one come in to shop drove it without the clutch as its oil pipe got leaked you remember right @skumar83
  12. nissan also brought back a name altima but its nothing as compared to the old beast
  13. if that picture is of your engine i guess there is a problem your oil pump is not pushing oil up till the head as its seems very dry there....
  14. we had a live demonstration of automatic vs manual on friday with both the cherokees in the group when @skumar83 climbed the iftar bowl in all his attempts and @sertac with his automatic one failed a few times when @Gaurav tried it went up could be because of the driver and cars having different set of tyres and driving style as sertac is afterall new to all this then sri is according to experience...
  15. if it was all animations and videos in the automatic transmissions books it would have been easier to absorb and put it in use in today's time but thanks for spreading some love
  16. I'll dive in this and pleasure is mine thanks bhai
  17. Doesn't oil getting dark means that its doing its job properly I.e cleaning the internals of carbon....can't say about enoc but I almost always use adnoc in my shop unless the customers specifies anything else and its good oil
  18. See Bhai I am here to listen and help I am sure I will explain all the options available and approximate estimates and the ups and down sides of all the options in the end of the day its the owner of the car who will call the shots...we are here to cater the needs of population which includes all types of people...
  19. v6 is weak and when you riding it you will occasionally pass by some turd who will be reving for you to start a run...and hopefully if you have the v8 one you might not be far behind if not in the front of it...
  20. the hammer could actually had nudged the car from behind and be on its way...
  21. while they look into this. you can try opening a text file and write it all and can paste it here in the end when all done what do you say mike
  22. get it scanned and if no code registered then proceed to view the live data it will surely pave the path to the problem...
  23. Sure guess is that its from inside the engine when you change back to thin oil the sound you missed will be back...we usually do that jugaad or frugal innovation masking trick when the customer who brought in the car 100% will not go for dismantle of engine or will say that lovely tale of the car being sold or in process of being sold or he has to return the car in question to someone they borrowed it from...and that also today itself....just removed the old oil toss in 20w50 mineral oil and toss in some thick oil also according to the size of engine and the level of sound....phoof the sound is vanished the guy is happy and off he goes to hang the bell on someone else neck....have killed tensioners sound in a maxima and bearings sound in a Mazda yaris and corolla Camry lc
  24. hey mike you sure have to be mighty to survive here...
