  1. Hi, If you prefer the convenience of someone coming and fixing the tyres at your home then pitstoparabia is good. They sell genuine tyres. However, if you are looking for the best possible price I suggest to drive to Sharjah at the below location and you find a line of shops where you can get a very good deal if you negotiate. On an average I have found a difference of nearly AED 40 - 50 per tyre between pitstoparabia and the Sharjah shops. https://goo.gl/maps/jLKV2kXTdc2do15G7 Do check the manufacturing date of the tyre and try to get it as recent as possible. If you drive a lot like approx 50,000 km in a year, you can look at getting about an unused tyre manufactured about a year ago. They give these tyres at prices sometimes 20% cheaper than a newly manufactured tyre.
  2. Trip Report - Breaking from the usual tradition of having night drives in summer we decided that to do a Sweihan drive, one must do it in daylight. But with the limited window of good weather in day light it was decided to have an early morning drive starting with the break of sunlight. So we all met on time at 4:45 am and quickly headed to the deflation point. After an even quicker briefing we headed out with @G.huz as my second lead and @Gaurav in sweep for Section 1 of the drive. If Gaurav had any thoughts of a relatively easier drive in sweep duties, they were quickly smashed by @shadow79 with the first crest right along center of the dune ridge. A few tugs and shoveling helped recover him and he managed to better that with an even more stubborn crest in the exact same position. The winch had to finally come out to recover him from the nasty spot. By then the sun had already started showing glimpses of its full glory, and so we picked up the pace and had to skip some sections of the waypoints that were initially marked. The beauty of Sweihan (especially in summer months) is the absolute virgin dunes one can ever get to see. We reached the end of Section 1 of the drive with the time close to 8:00 am. With the weather getting warmer we headed for the best part of the drive, a huge sand mountain with plenty of room to play and circle around. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. After climbing from every possible angle we finally descended and started our exit route in the final hour of the drive. The dunes in this area were fabulous rolling dunes and like Gaurav mentioned, we definitely need to plan a full day drive in this area in the cooler months. As we were playing along the dunes towards the exit we had a couple of overheating issues, but thankfully nothing too bad. We finally settled for our breakfast in the shaded area of what seemed to be an abandoned majlis. A special thanks to @Emmanuel for discovering this area, and also thanks to @Javier M, @shadow79, @G.huz and @Gauravfor all the support to ensure that we started and end the drive on time, especially in this weather.
  3. That's why I have kept an extra one hour and we are starting at 5 am just to be on safe side. 😁
  4. Sweihan dunes also regarded as "Little Liwa" by some offers plenty of opportunities to test our desert driving skills by climbing sideways, ridge riding, ridge cutting and to climb huge dunes to its peak and capture some stunning pictures. As the weather is still hot, its best to start off at the onset of sunrise and have a good 3 hours of fast paced drive through some of the most amazing dunes that UAE has to offer. This drive is for Intermediate & above level When: 16th August 2019, Friday Meeting time: 4:45 AM, Convoy will move sharp at 5:00 AM Meeting GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/4YP93yynZaYBuNHq7 Level of drive: Intermediate & Above What to bring along: Snacks, Quick Breakfast whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate Finish Time: 9:00 AM on 16th August 2019, Friday Please Note, at meeting point there is no petrol station, make sure you fill your tanks on your way at nearest petrol station. 6. As I know brake oil is like a paint stripper. Might cause corrosion. So not sure if it can be used
  7. I feel for a manual car to be in 4Lo 1st gear is too much of a stress on the vehicle. For me, 4Lo 3rd gear is equivalent to a 4Hi 1st gear
  8. We actually have another guy who lives on green tea as well.
  9. I seriously doubt that. Possibly the sand is very soft due to no traffic in that area. Give it a bit time till winter and most likely you should have the power to do it. 😁
  10. I actually got it done in Deira Naif area and unfortunately have not had the time to visit the area yet. But in the meanwhile, I was able to isolate the issue to my SD card only and I was reading somewhere (cant recollect where now) that if in the SD card there are more than 99 songs in a single folder this error can happen. So would be segregating the songs in the folders and giving it a try.
  11. @Frederic it's a plug and play device. The end connection is similar to a desktop VGA cable end, but only wider with more pins. I will try to send the diagram for you to have a look.
  12. Hi I recently installed a Digital Music Changer in my 8th gen Honda Civic. This is mainly to connect a USB / AUX / Memory Card to the existing head unit. I have been using it a little over a month with the AUX connection. Yesterday I inserted a memory card for the first time. While it was working fine in the morning, by evening it stopped working and even the AUX connection was not working. I tried restarting the car, disconnecting the Digital Music Changer from the head unit. But to no use. Even this morning when I started the car it was not working, and suddenly after an hour it started working. In the afternoon it again stopped working. Though it's a minor issue, but i spent AED 200 for the unit and incase i have to replace it was wondering what i need to check to avoid this the next time. Any suggestions?
  13. @Michael sammyyou can check in Castrol. They have it in full synthetic.
  14. @Michael sammy you need to remove the aluminium lip in the rear bumper. There are 4 botls on the top and 4 underneath the car. You can get it removed very easily in any garage. It's a 10 min job. If not possible, then we can look at it before the drive and get it out.
  15. One way is to see the prices available for a similar condition vehicle on Dubizzle and then start negotiating to get it as low as possible. If you have decided the vehicle and you are buying it on cash, it would be good to carry the cash with you and do one final negotiation before getting the transfer done. A seller also would like to sell his vehicle at the earliest and it's a good time to negotiate if you are serious to buy.
  16. Dont know where to get it but I am just curious if you could do this with an oil based white color paint.
  17. The baking soda gives the abrasion and the coconut oil works like a carrier. But the main thing cleaning it is the alcohol. I don't think your windshield would get cleaned with this as iin your case it's a much stronger adhesive. You will definitely need a solvent in which the glue dissolves. That's why I suggest a ethyl acetate based thinner from national paints which you can get in any hardware store. Ethyl acetate is one of the raw material which keeps an adhesive in liquid state and once it evaporates it gives a strong bonding
  18. Try the same nail polish remover or ethyl acetate based thinner from the hardware store. And then with a blade you can gently scrape it out
  19. Try a bit of kerosene or petrol. Might help.
  20. if the noise and jerks comes while accelerating, then most likely it would be rear differential bushing. As the bush gets worse you would start hearing the clunk noise on every bump, but that would take a while as you are using the vehicle mainly for onroad purpose.
