  1. Jacks Plaice in sports city is good for British style fish n chips but it’s a bit expensive. I think we paid around 85 dhs each including all the extras. The food was good though, better than London in the food court. Nothing against London, their food is pretty good too.
  2. Park n shop used to stock it but they only stock orange flavour now. Spinneys is good for British brands but they never seem to stock what I am looking for, only stuff for English immigrants
  3. Just running the engine won’t work. This is the bleeding procedure, you can do it yourself at home if you have a 12mm spanner or socket. Make sure the engine is cold. Don’t try it on a hot engine or you will get scalded and it won’t work properly. Open the radiator cap. Depending on model, your car will have either one or 2 bolts on top of the thermostat housing. If it has 2, remove the lower one first. If it has 1, remove it and leave the top one. Pour coolant into the radiator. Keep pouring until only pure coolant comes out the hole, no bubbles. There is no harm in pouring extra coolant in to be sure. If you have one bleeder bolt and you are sure no air is coming out, put the bolt back in and top up the radiator, job finished. If you have 2 bleeder bolts, once you are sure no air is coming out, close the lower bolt and top up the radiator. Then open the top bolt and repeat the process. I shouldn’t even have to post basic stuff like this online. Any mechanic should know this. But here in uae there are so many shitty mechanics who have no idea what they are doing but they charge low prices so people run to them even if they don’t know what they’re doing and it’s because of cheap customers chasing cheap incompetent mechanics I refuse to work on cars now. If someone offers me 1,000 dhs an hour to fix a car I won’t do it. If you make your bed you have to lie in it. Competent mechanics who charge for knowledge have negative reviews posted all over google because of price.
  4. Searching for Lucozade original flavour in Dubai. Used to have a small handful of shops I could get it but they only stock orange flavour now and won’t order original flavour because not enough people buy it. Can order from UK but shipping prices and import taxes make it almost 20 dhs for a bottle. If anyone sees it around, would really appreciate knowing where. Preferably bottles. Cans have a weird taste.
  5. I like how they do in Germany when there is traffic. Everyone pulls to the side of their lanes to make room for emergency services to get through.
  6. Nice work. I’m impressed. It’s a great feeling when you do jobs like this yourself and succeed.
  7. There is air the heater matrix. Causes can be bad radiator cap, pipe in the expansion bottle isn’t totally covered (ie low coolant in bottle), cracked pipe to expansion bottle, coolant leak or the system wasn’t bled properly. Id guess the system wasn’t bled properly. On pajero you need to bleed the system from the bolt/s on top of the thermostat housing. You can’t just open the radiator cap and leave the engine running.
  8. There’s also an issue that different coolants will gel rather than mixing which can create hotspots in the engine and cause things to warp or weaken.
  9. It looks a bit like a bicycle pump that clips onto where your radiator cap goes. Usually you pump it up to 12-14 psi and it will push coolant out through any leaks but you could go up to 18-19 psi and it something is bad you will find it
  10. Probably a good idea to stick a pressure tester on it and put in a few more psi than normal and see if anything else starts leaking
  11. I am planning to visit the Dead Sea. I have a skin problem and I hear going there will make my life easier. Always interested in cheap ways I can go there and spend some time
  12. 😂😂 when I see lady owned it means they have hit every kerb in all 7 Emirates and the tyres will be full of bubbles and the alignment will be out of whack i know “British owned” has become a meme in UAE but when I’m buying random stuff on dubizzle I like buying from British sellers. The price is the price, the item is described as is. There is no “last price” bs. The price advertised is a fair price, pre haggled. You get what you see.
  13. Apparently now the thing in Dubai is make sure the ad says "British owned". If it says "lady" in the title, bonus points. If the owner was a "British lady dentist", you hit the jackpot.
  14. Yes. The Gurkha regiment were recruited by the British army and saved the British imperialists ass so many times, they are still saving their asses in Singapore, but this is a non political forum so lets not get into that.
  15. Snakes are cool. Tasty too deep fried in batter with soy sauce. I used to have a pet Boa constrictor. She grew to almost 2 meters. Once you learn to handle them they aren't so scary. Its about respect. Most of the time if you don't annoy them they won't annoy you. If you want to pick one up, just be careful of the bitey end. If you pick up a snake properly it won't be able to bite you. But, some snakes can be just as cuddly as a kitten too. Mine used to curl around my leg and sit and watch TV with me. Snakes don't want to bite people. Purely for the reason that they swallow their prey whole, and a person is too big to swallow. If a snake bites you, its not the snakes fault, its yours. The snake bit you because it was scared. Snakes get a bad rep sometimes but its not their fault, its ours. We are the ones encroaching on their environment. They were there before we started decided to build villas over their habitat.
  16. I'm going to jump in on this. Part of the reason air suspension used to get a bad reputation when it first came out is because it was so new. When it went wrong, the mechanics on the ground didn't know how to repair it so it became a main dealer job. Things got expensive fast. Now it's easy. People know how it works and its not complicated. Its just a compressor, controller, valve block and 4 air bags. Sounds simple doesn't it? Because it is. But back then people were scared because they didn't understand it. Remember when fuel injection became a thing instead of carburetors? Its the same. People don't like to accept new technology. Air suspension isn't overly expensive to repair if you know what you're doing and can diagnose the problem. Even an idiot like me can order a repair kit online and rebuild a complicated looking air suspension setup. Shit, the instructions are even in the box. I know a lot of people swear by shocks and springs. Their 20 year old car is still running on the original springs. I know people with 40+ year old cars running on original springs. Yes. But look at new cars, a spring can break after 3-4 years. This is all down to the quality of the steel used. Go a few years back and the springs were made from fresh virgin metal. Now the metal has been recycled and recycled and mixed so many times it has lost its purity. Thats why old cars are still running their original springs and new car springs break after 3-4 years. For a race car id always choose adjustable shocks and springs but for everyday driving, id have airbags. the ride quality is like night and day.

    Best SUV

Not going offroad and needing extra seats, its better to buy something like a Toyota Innova. There's no point paying more for tires, fuel, maintenance etc for capabilities that will never be used.
  18. Go for it! I would love to hear what it's like driving all the way to Jordan.
  19. I went to the motor show in WTC last year and I enjoyed it. I think (maybe) I posted some photos on here but I couldn't find the thread. Yeah, there is a lot of boring corporate stuff but there's a lot of cool stuff too. Nice modified cars, weird cars and of course the infamous Devel Sixteen. Last year there was a whole hall dedicated to classics and that's where I spent most of my time. Seeing a Pantera in the flesh made it worthwhile. Most of it was a sales pitch from Tomini but it was cool to see rare cars like that on display. By the way, if you're into cool, old, rare, expensive cars, go and visit the Tomini showroom in Al Quoz. Nice place to spend a couple of hours and enjoy some free arabic coffee. I wasn't planning to go but I had a meeting right beside it so we just went inside to see. Got a discount for paying with Emirates NBD card too so we got in cheap. Id say go and see for yourself. We're all stuck in Dubai and there isn't much to do so you might as well experience as much as you can when you're here.
  20. https://www.dubaiautodrome.com/tracktalk/get-ready-2019-emirates-motorsport-expo-to-kick-off-new-season/ this happened last weekend. 5 minute drive from my place and I didn’t know. I missed it @Carnity you need to organise an upcoming events section and promote it so we can all go and represent
  21. still a lot of farmers driving troopers in Ireland. Rust is the big enemy but it’s to be expected on anything 20 years old. I have a friend with. 3.0 TD running propane injection and he has been mudding in it every weekend for the past 6-7 years with no major issues.
