To me, it sounds more like the habtoor techs wanted to have a dig at the customer than a valid explanation for what happened. Once you modify anything these guys have you in a barrel and the modifications will always get blamed for anything that fails.

The timing belt broke because of too much boost? That's something I've never seen in my life and I can't find any case studies on it. If I had to put money on it, I'd say the belt was already past it's best and was ready to snap anyway. Plenty of evos out there running 400+ bhp with standard timing belts.

It's not as simple as just removing the turbo come testing time. There's manifolds (intake and exhaust), oil lines, air pipes, exhaust, induction system and the ecu will have to be flashed back to standard map. It's no small job. If you're going to use wasta to get it passed, it's probably not a good idea to mention it on a public forum as a lot of people could lose their jobs. Passing aside, remember the police will pull you over and take your car if they suspect it's been modified in any way. Turbo whistle, not to mention an intercooler hanging out the front bumper is a dead giveaway. If you want a small turbo without modifying the engine, it's pretty pointless as you can only run maybe 7-8 psi before you start problems. Far easier just to fit a 50 shot of nitrous for short bursts up dunes. Read this and you'll have a better understanding of how turbocharging actually works, then you can ask more relevant questions,

I don't know anything about this scheme, would appreciate some more info from @Gaurav At a guess, they might operate some random secret shopper scheme. Cars with known faults are investigated and diagnosed by qualified technicians then sent into workshops to see what they come up with. Pure speculation of course. If they start to close garages with uncertified mechanics, there won't be many garages left in UAE but maybe that's a good thing.

There was a topic posted about this a few months ago. The speedometer always over reads slightly. The variance is built into speedometers by the manufacturers because they don't want to be sued by someone who got fined for speeding. There are ways to change the reading but it's a lot more trouble than it's worth in the end.

The reality is he won't reply. He has been exposed and is hiding. The garage has been shown to be incompetent through their massively wild, incorrect and expensive diagnosis. They have also been exposed as cheaters by wanting to fit a part which isn't even applicable to the vehicle, the throttle body servo.

I don't have any license so you're doing better than me lol. I had some problems after an accident back home and got banned for 3 years. I'm planning on getting my license here this year though. I'll go for manual because it leaves the options open. Most of the cars here are auto but if I do the manual test, it means I can drive anything. If I need to hop into a van or pickup at work I'll be covered. No issues, I've been driving manual since I was 10. Hopefully after that I can get my bike test. Indecently, does anyone know what happens here if you're caught driving a manual on an auto license? Is it a real problem or just a silly 200dhs fine? I imagine the time you will find out is when someone drives into you and the police come?

I can vouch for the car too. I know every nut and bolt in it. Diamond let me drive it on one of the Carnity drives and it performed beautifully on gravel, sand tracks and attacking dunes. One of the best days out I've ever had.

You can either answer the questions imposed by me earlier honestly or you can ignore them. If your computer records are as thorough as you say, them you should have no problem answering. If you ignore them, all that will be left is this evidence online for 120,000 people to see, plus anyone who decides to search for your company on google saying as Carnity is the number one option to come up under a google search of car forum.

@carsclinic why would anyone want to come to your garage when you have no skills when it comes to diagnosing faults in cars? Below is a copy of a quotation you gave to a carnity member. The real issue was a faulty idle control valve, a cheap and easy fix. However, you wanted to change the plug leads, coil packs, air filter, throttle body servo, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and refurbish the injectors, all at a cost of almost 3,000 dirhams. This would have been wasted money that did nothing to address the actual problem. To anyone who knows anything about how an engine works, this is how someone operates when they can't perform simple diagnosis to find out what the actual problem is. They change every part they think could be faulty and hope the problem goes away. Which in your case, it wouldn't have. How did you know the plug leads were faulty and needed to be changed? Did you check the resistance and test for leakage? How did you test the coil packs? Do you have an oscilloscope in your garage? What was wrong with the throttle body? Or was it just a guess which it obviously seems to be. There is no servo motor on the throttle body of that particular model, it has 2 mechanical cables. Dirty air filter? Or dirty cheater too lazy to blow it out with an airline. I assume you did tested the upper and lower manifold gaskets with a smoke machine to confirm they were actually leaking? Or did you at least spray starting fluid around it and monitor engine speed? Because it's a pretty time consuming job to strip the manifold off. How do you know the injectors needed refurbished? Did you test the spray pattern and flow? Amateurs and scammers like you are what gives the rest of us decent mechanics and technicians a bad name.

I never trust anyone who doesn't use proper spelling and grammar in an ad.

He's talking about a discovery, not a Range Rover. They're a lot simpler with less to go wrong. The biggest problem with them is rust but I doubt that's much of a problem in the gulf climate.
