  1. I would like to apologize to all for this drive which turned out several levels above most participants ability. At the same time I would like to thank each and every one personally for showing such patience and quick learning that we were all able to make it in and out without any major issues. It was a very sharp learning curve for all of us and everyone performed well above their capacity. A few cosmetic damages but thank God no major issues.

I am really impressed with @baselsm83 for making the second lead his own position. So well done. I'm impressed with the way @skumar83 backed me up every inch of the way in sweep duties with his sister. I cannot thank @Abdul Basit Khan enough for jumping out ahead of me to assist with recoveries. I would be able to make it without his help. As for @DiamondDallas@Barry, Kris, @shadow79, @Asif Hussain, @RajuBhat without their patience, quick learning and absolute commitment we would have a very challenging but dull trip. Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn kept us all motivated. Well done guys and gals.

Finally @Gaurav Bhai who was so excited for this trip. He has done so very well and earned my respect on this trip for having faith and knowledge. He ackowledged that it was more challenging than intended, asked me to keep faith in his knowledge, shared with me at every step his action plan and got us all out in 1 piece just ahead of the Friday prayers. Well done Gaurav bhai and looking forward to doing the same area with a few selected people as an intermediate drive.

Thank you all for all the love and support and for the absolutely delicious breakfast. I was so full I only had my dinner in the night, had to skip lunch. Overall a challenging drive which I would not like to repeat in the near future, but definitely one to look forward to after a few relaxing drives.

  2. With @Barry raising the topic on Turbo installation on his favorite truck, he has got me thinking of getting a Turbo installed in my Nissan Pathfinder 2001 model R50. Recently I have been watching a video breaking the myth of cheap turbo sets found on ebay installed on a vehicle in like 10 minutes and is like a fan only which is added to the intake. This turbo set claims increase of 50 hp on the said vehicle, but does nothing except made a sweet sound. As these guys explained that the turbo or super charge is all about getting compressed air into the engine. I now am more curious to learn about turbo charging a vehicle, in particular my Pathy R50. I used to have a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSR4 with turbo which was tuned by AMG. This came as a stock factory install and I never had any problem passing the car and it was a lot of fun to drive.

Firstly, what all needs to be done to install a turbo, it is not just dropping in a turbo in the engine bay and walla, my car also has a MAF sensor, how does that restrict the turbo from working, or is there a way to adjust it?

Does the ECU needs to be reprogrammed?

On long run what effect does it have on a wearing old engine which you are trying to keep alive and running?

Would I need new headers and exhaust?

What kind of realistic minimum gains you can expect?

How much would such a setup cost?

Is it legal, will I have a problem passing my car in RTA if I do get the turbo installed?

  3. @AdnanK This is really a horror story like so many other I have heard from the dealerships here. Very sorry to hear about this. The rally idiotic thing is the false promise was made and there is no regret or options given to the client as there are a few very good after market Android Head Units, they can at least give you the option of changing the installation to an after market one. This is crazy as you pay so much with so much expectations due to the promises made and than face such disappointments once the money is in their pockets.

  4. Plus the BS we get here, like the other day the guy bought a cabin filter for his Pajero and was informed y Habtoor Motors that there is no cabin filter in a Pajero. Upon research I found out that the space is there for the cabin filter but has been covered by plastic which needs to be cut out to fit the cabin filter, even the screws and everything fit perfectly with the cabin filter he has bought. That reminds me, I have to check if he has got it done yet.

  5. I have seen the calendar for the first time when I signed up for this Friday drive, and I am really impressed. With all the drives and events that we have had so far, besides the Gallery to keep our memories preserved, the calendar serves as a one glance event organizer. This is a very cool initiative and looks absolutely gorgeous. 5 stars from my side.

  6. @Hbahrameh I can vouch for what Gaurav is saying as I have seen him suffer after having slightly better response from all the treatments advised, when we checked the pressure from the valves there were those that were failing to produce the figures and need to change the ICV before seeing any good results. Now Gaurav's Pajero is running like a dream and is on stock power as when it left the showroom floor.

  7. I have had a Jeep Commander 5.7 Hemi and I know the hassles of having 26 computers all at you at once. But it is safe to remove and than put back the ABS and SRS fuse. If there is any error, I know how to reset that as well without you having to take it back to the Agency to give you some crap. I would recommend you get a off-road only car with less gadgets and more fun. But for the moment it is better to be safe than sorry. As we saw last time the slightest of bumps can cause the car to get upset.

  8. There must be a more practical solution to take care of the emission from the vehicles. Maybe lesser vehicles on the road, or more strict regulations like UAE to have the emission levels checked on each vehicle before it is registered for another year, starting from the public transport which can be checked for fuel emissions and better their emission levels as most pollution comes from buses and heavy vehicles.

  9. @amid with all due respect, there are always a lot of talk when any changes happen. We can only know the facts when all this comes in to place and that to will be tweaked to suit all as an when required as it is something new to this region. We will learn to live with it, accept it and work the best we can with the new structure once it is introduced. I have stayed in UAE all my life and everything used to be free, when they were introducing parking meters and Salik, everybody was a lot of talks, but once in place we all learned to change with the times and adopt it as normal practice.

  10. I was just waiting for this post and it looks more exciting than when we discussed. I am in with full support.

Just to add to the beauty of the terrain, there are some beautiful high dunes which can be used to play around if time permitting.

Also while mentioning that Gazelles can be spotted in this area, on 2 occasions I have seen Oryx as well as geckos and lizards.

Looking forward to this weekend. Now if only time would just fly by.

  11. I have seen people like @Doc and @Gaurav have different versions of the Pajero and recovered a couple from the desert and I can vouch for a Pajero that it is an awesome machine. If you don't mind me advising you @Jaan Rambo, any 4x4 is good, you just need some time behind the wheels to understand your vehicle and your vehicle to understand you. Its like a marriage.

  12. Like @Gaurav Bhai put it, nothing to do with cars, but yet with car enthusiasts around we turn anything into a car fest. At least one thing to look forward to from this event is some one will walk away with a brand new Mitsubishi Montero Sport. I would like to thank Gaurav bhai, Sohini, Iraj for being the chief guest to our humble party. Thanks to Waqas, Sadia and their to adorable kids for adding their presence and bringing life to the party. Thanks to Abdul Basit and Saleem to come along and party hard, they added excitement to every ride and their stories kept us entertained. Thanks to my wife Srisha and my daughter Sadia for their inovative and creative ideas and their support without which this event would be half cooked. Above all thanks to @Ghassan who not only made immaculate arrangements but was with us all the way to make this event smooth and fun.

We started with much and chats which was so enjoyable and the lunch was healthy options but amazingly delicious too. This was followed by an awesome Strawberry cake for Gaurav bhai's birthday which left us licking our spoons.

After a healthy and filling lunch it was time to strip down and show off our well maintained bodies, except for Abdul Bashir who did not had much to show. Packing up the lockers we headed out to Enjoy the wave pool which was a bit relaxing after the lunch we had. Spending some time at the wave pool and when it seemed good had settled we headed to our first slide. Coming down the Dragon teased me and I needed some time to recover. I later found out that you need to cross your legs or the Dragon would get you every time.

We than headed to the children section where we relaxed and let Iraj feel the water for the first time. He got so accustomed to the water that he did not want to leave. Slowly we headed back to the rides where Gaurav Bhai swolled up a couple of gallons of water and suffered the dragons wrath for not crossing his legs.

After some tiring rides it was time to relax in an ice cold Jacuzzi and the bubbles were refreshing. Few minutes there and feeling refreshed we headed out to the dead sea in the middle of Dreamland Aqua Park. This was not as salty as the dead sea itself but still lived up to its name. The water there was a bit warm and relaxing as we floated and enjoyed our last few minutes at the water park. As we headed to the lazy river the time was up, being a stubborn bunch we walked for a few till the first exit, gathered everyone and headed out to the showers. After an invigorating shower and change in to dry cloths we headed to the locker and emptied them. As we were about to leave we met Ghassan again and thanked him for his hospitality with a few laughs.

A short stop at the Barracuda was inevitable and we were guided to an excellent tea shop and treated by Saleem Bhai. A few more stories exchanged and we were headed back home. Those who missed it were the unlucky bunch.

In conclusion it was a dream time at the Dreamland Aqua Park and the smiles throughout the day are our treasure for life.
