  1. Dear all and especially @Rahimdad, @Gaurav, @Srikumar and @Frederic. I am sharing with you all a detailed article on how to deal and contain covid 19. It's time consuming but worth it as it is going to overwhelm healthcare and facilities around the world https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca Considering "current scientific consensus is that this virus can be spread within 2 meters (6 feet) if somebody coughs. Otherwise, the droplets fall to the ground and don’t infect you." We all need to act now to contain it. I wanted to know if the following was feasible - do the carnity briefings on radio while we are sitting in our cars. Absolute newbies to please read the carnity brief without fail. - we get to help each other only when someone is stuck as it is open wider area - may be the Marshall's can guide the newbies well ahead not to get stuck. With these small modifications we dont have to forgo the fun of driving in desert while keeping ourselves safe.
  2. Thanks @Salarios for your detailed reply. Sorry to know you have a broke bumper even with the uplifted one.:-( I was wondering how does changing rim size increase foot print in desert ? Because if you have down sized to 18 , you would have gone for increased side wall (65 or 70 ) and hence the tyre circumference remains almost same. So upon deflating to 15 psi in desert the contact area on sand probably remains the same as the tyre circumference has not changed .I am not sure if I am getting my math wrong here ?please correct me if I am wrong. Cheers and See you soon
  3. @Frederic @Nayan Shenai and @Xaf thanks for guiding convoy 1 through the drive. It was very exciting to do those small slope sidees...hope we learn and get it right everytime. @Rahimdad, @Gaurav and @Srikumar thanks for the whole arrangement managing other convoys. Cheers and see you all again sometime soon
  4. @Kalahari I have a "patrol" load of sand already in my car.... the feeling of somebody looking at my car if I am supposed to sell and telling me " oh- it's been off road!!" is quite saddening . :-)) hope I pass out with flying colors tomorrow...hahaha. @Jamy B. Please come prepared to pass !! That snake used to get very long with Nokia 3310 users . @Frederic just wanted to know how big (in number of cars ) was the largest in carnity of all time ?
  5. @Gaurav please dont fail me if I dont answer :-)) I have gone through the details mentioned in the link. Many thanks
  6. Definitely not the one for offroading!!
  7. I was just wondering since this is a multicultural and multinational group , in the wake of current health situation gripping the whole world (corona Pandemic declared by WHO). It will be prudent to follow some basic steps - I hope the organizers agree on this - please refrain from joining if you have any symptoms of upper respiratory infection, cough or fever and get yourself checked with a Dr - avoid hand shakes and touching faces without washing or using sanitizer I hope this is taken in right spirit. Let us take care of our health and those whom we all care
  8. Congratulations @Salarios . How much did it cost for this change and any suggestions where to get it done? Does it interfere with the Hydraulic suspensions on the patrol ? Let know how do you feel the change with these new set of tyres on road and in desert. They look great .
  9. Let all the wonderful women here feel empowered driving in the desert
  10. @Salarios that body kit looks nice , but I am just wondering if the front over hang is still there which will hit the sand and break. The one done locally is much better because there is no over hang with curved edges which prevents bumping into sand especially while getting down steep dunes. In worse situation even if it breaks one is not losing 10K AED :-)) I got mine changed for around 1200 AED including a aluminium skid plate and installation at Sharjah (pic below). Decent job not 100% perfect, but worked well so far. Contact person Mr Mohammed 0508864047, at a workshop in Al Nahda Sharjah.( sorry i forgot the name). They literally had bumpers of all sizes and shapes for all cars and can fabricate one as per your suggestions See you soon in the desert
  11. @Nayan Shenai thanks @Frederic, my apologies for not seeing this complete thread and shooting a query to you. Thanks
  12. @Frederic can you please send some information/pdf/youtube video links for setting up Baofeng uv5r.
  13. Sorry but can I add something, as a newbie it's too early for me to make suggestions!:-)) When new drivers sign up and are asked about which car they drive, tow hooks and prior off road experience , along with this it would be better to provide them the exact thread advising on what is needed as a newcomer. Just to make it point they read it and be aware because sometimes they may read other discussions/threads on carnity which are of interest.
