  5. I'm cancelling this event considering the weather forecast with heavy rain in this area for Saturday morning.
  6. The plan is to cross the Western part of Sweihan area, and to exit on the Al Fayah side, on the E75. High dunes and sharp ridges at the beginning, challenging climb and technical in the middle, long rolling portion to finish. There is plenty of room for adjustment depending on the group and the sand and weather conditions. 7. @Gertjan, thank you for joining this morning. That IM drive turned to a private drive 😅! We had the liberty of choosing our itinerary, and the conditions were perfect. A cold morning, very clear view, the sand starting to dry and become softer, and a totally empty desert! We crossed Sweihan, Nagra, Nahel areas without crossing a single other car. Did everyone go to Liwa ??? Thank you for being my drive partner today, it was a great morning !
  8. Dear Desert Drivers, Last updates for tomorrow Meeting at 7:00 am at https://maps.app.goo.gl/6Ggs62b9yGEzyZi26 The convoy order will be We will use Carnity Radio Channel 6. Enjoy the evening, take as much sleep as you can, and see you tomorrow morning !
  9. Sorry about that Nathan. I hope its not too bad and he/she can get well soon. See you next time
  10. Dear Desert Drivers, We have been a bit frustrated last week with the heavy fog and the late start of the drive. Hopefully we can start earlier this Saturday, and benefit from the full time frame. If conditions are there, the plan is to start with the high dunes near the starting point, move in the direction of Old Lady Dune, cross to Al Ain Airport area, and exit close to Al Ain. I will update tomorrow, and indicate the convoy order by the end of the afternoon.

  13. Thank you all for joining the drive this morning, despite the heavy fog on the road. The fog was heavy, and we had to wait until 9:30 am to get enough visibility. But then it was really worth it, the vast dune areas of Sweihan were open for us ! The warm-up was not easy, with the sand wet and soft at the same time, and of course all convoys starting at the same time. But after a few high ridges and bowls, everyone was awake! From one ridge to the other, we made our way to the tall Nagra dune. With a lot of cross tracks, it was not the best conditions, but we managed to cross the summit ridge, and to loop around the faces. The second portion, continuing in the direction of Nahel, offered clean open dunes, totally empty. Crossing the sabkha we reached the Ghafeteen bowl, nice spot to play once we found the right line. With a last portion of technical dunes, we reached the exit track. Thank you @Jona for a perfect 2nd lead. Whatever I was doing, you were always there in my mirror, at the same distance. @Zulfikar, well done for your first IM. You lost a few ridges, but the important is being able to control your car in all situations, the rest will come. @Patrick van der Loo, always a pleasure to hear your jeep in the convoy. Very well driven. @Ashutosh Garg, well driven also, but you had 2 near misses. Remain focused on your environment, and think momentum rather than speed to cross obstacles. @Davie Chase, thank you for watching the convoy from the back, it was a peace of mind for me to know you were there; Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you soon !
  14. Dear Desert Drivers @Jona @Zulfikhar Naiyar @Mohit Gurnani @Patrick van der Loo @Ashutosh Garg @Davie Chase Last updates for tomorrow Meeting at 7:00 am at https://maps.app.goo.gl/6Ggs62b9yGEzyZi26 The convoy order will be We will use Carnity Radio Channel 6. If there is fog on the way, take your time and drive safe, we will wait. Take a good rest, and see you tomorrow morning.
  15. Excellent approach. When signs show that you shall not drive, don't drive. The desert will still be there next week, next month, next year and after !
  16. Dear Desert Drivers, Thank you for signing up for the drive on Saturday morning. n preparation for the drive, please ensure that your car is is top condition, remove any unnecessary item from the trunk or the backseat, and make sure to SECURE your off-road gear to avoid any loose item. Take also the time to program the 10 Carnity radio frequencies BEFORE the drive. This is required in case we have to change frequency during the drive to avoid interferences. I will indicate the convoy order by the end of the afternoon tomorrow Friday.
  17. @Mohit Gurnani, these bungee cords are not the best, as heavy objects tend to slide below and escape. Straps like the ones I lent you are better.
  18. Beautiful drive indeed ! Thank you @Emanuel for the videos. Nice expression of how fluid the drive was. Fluid but quite intense with the high ridges, the crossings, and the high pace. Very well done all of you. You managed to be focused and accurate. I'm sure you could feel the difference when you managed to find that exact line that makes a crossing smooth and effortless, ..... or when you miss it, don't have the proper angle, or don't have enough momentum. @Rk ram @Emanuel @Deepak Eswar @Gertjan @Mohit Gurnani @Ranjan Das , thank you joining, the convoy was well in sync, and it was a pleasure to lead !
