Thanks for the fun drive @Looper Nice early start promptly at 0700 and the fog had cleared to give us a beautiful clear day. We started by heading past some very skinny camels and then getting the heart pumping with some quick climbs and criss crossing. Crossing one of the sabkha, it was cool to see some guys practising falconry! The technical dunes in little sweihan left me with a very bent number plate held on by zip ties so that will be my mission for the week to get it solved. My bash plate got quite the work out 😅 Around 60km covered in 2 hours moving time! Good motivation to keep pushing was the roar of the @Stumpyraptor could hear it all the way from the front! Thanks for the fast drive everyone!

Abu Dhabi desert challenge / Dakar

one of the hardest parts of following along stages with this or dakar is not watching out for, and keeping out of the way of participants in the race... but keeping well away from other spectators flying over and around dunes without keeping on eye on where they going..... quite the obstacle course -

Thankyou everyone for the excellent lunar New year drive! I absolutely loved the nice flowing dunes transitioning into technical areas. We stopped for a coffee next to the rock formations (animal graveyards😜) before heading into n the technical loops. Unfortunately the Jimny shed it's numberplate somewhere in the dunes. Here we got to practice fixing popouts both drivers and passengers sides. Thanks @DP1011for the excellent route selection. I have us at about 50km! See you all again soon

Thanks everyone for the fun (and long!) drive as usual. We started off on a easterly direction, before wandering south east from the starting point, heading towards the first mud flat / sabkha area. Lots of nice small ridge crossings made for some good excitement for the passengers. We then turned to a more south west heading aiming down for the second sabkha area. We looped around the picnic way point in some taller dunes and eventually hit the destination for our picnic stop. The wind was a little strong, whipping up dust and sand. really put the 'sand' in the 'SANDwich'. Managed to make a small batch of semi-warm karak... maybe i should invest in a wind shield for the little burner As we left the picnic destination @Aser's car managed to find a very nice looking gazelle skull with the antlers still attached... A couple of minor refusals which were quickly cleared up and we made very good time towards the exit. Just before hitting the dirt track we found another skull... camel this time. Bit of skin still attached... so we had a clean up job to do on it last night. Thanks for the navigation work @Ale Vallecchi, was a fun drive. Hope the bumper is all ok. My stats are below: 92.5km in around 7 hours. Looking forward to seeing everyones pics in the gallery!

Gaia GPS For Beginners - 2024 Update

yeah mine starts and stops constantly from the heat with messages saying 'phone operations reduced due to overheating' I now just use the phone on the dash to see where we are going etc see the preset waypoints, and record using my regular phone in my pocket.
