My bushranger stays steady at 55-60 degree with a single hose even after inflating 4 tires.

I recently measured this as one of the new guys unboxed a cutie little (battery pack) compressor bought from Amazon, claiming to inflate four tires. After two tires, it was running at 140 degrees. First time I measured compressor head, out of curiosity.

Bottomline, measure yours first, before buying based on video evidence and logic.

I feel and think, direct sunlight makes twice the impact on compressor life.

yes, this is definitely adding  a lot more temperature, plus tire size plus compressor power plus compressor quality plus plus... all this has to be taken into consideration

It would be interesting to see if it runs cooler with a 4 tire inflate setup

This question goes to all the ARB specialists, after today's drive a fellow driver inflated 3 tires with an ARB single portable compressor, on the 4th tire it cut out... we checked the fuse, no issues found so we let it rest for 90sec after which it worked for 1min and cut out again. Am I assuming correctly that it had some kind of internal temperature regulator cut off? Any hacks how to manage this during inflation to avoid overheating?

Just had a quick look…

 

The single compressor is rated for 50% duty cycle, 30 minutes on followed by 30 minutes cooling. The cut-off kicks in at 115 degC. 
 

If the compressor was left in the direct sunlight today and sat on the floor, there’s a good likelihood it would hit 115 degC after running for a while. 
 

There’s a few things you can do:

- Sit the compressor in the shade (less heat due to sun)

- Make sure the air filter is clear and the air chuck at the end of the hose is also clear (good flow, motor works less hard against any resistance)

- Ensure good contacts with battery (running motor at lower voltage can result in higher heat)

- Use a two hose or four hose setup to fill multiple tyres simultaneously (more efficient)
