  • JeromeFJ changed the title to Morning Fewbie Desert Drive - Nahel - Abu Dhabi - 01 Mar 2025

Hi @Andrei S and all,

Coming from Dubai, you have 2 main options

- E66 / E20 This is the preferred option, and it was clear last week

- E611 / E75 (Truck Rd) / E16 / E20. On this itinerary, the junction E75 - E16 was blocked last week, and may still be blocked.

If this second option still works better for you, there is a detour as per the below scheme:

Dear Desert Drivers

@Andrei S @Wayne Momsen @Yury @Ozgu @Rob S @Abdullah A. @frederic demolder @JAISROCK @Ishak

Thank you for signing up for the FB drive in Nahel tomorrow morning. Please make sure your car is ready for the outdoors, and remove unnecessary items from the passenger ans trunk areas. Check also that your desert gears are properly secured to avoid heavy objects moving in the car.

I will issue the convoy order by the end of the afternoon. Please let me know before that in case you changed your plans.

Dear Desert Drivers

Thank you for joining the drive today.  The short convoy and the good ratio FB vs more experienced drivers gave us the flexibility to explore the Nahel area, and the possibility to try a few challenges. Passing by the lake at the beginning, we started with the nice open rolling dunes as a warm-up, with a few crossings to get a flavor of what was going to come.

Then we arrived in a high dunes area, an opportunity for turning around a soft sand bowl,  high climbs, high crossings with a view, and steep descent. After the break, we joined a technical area, all going well until at a point we had 3 cars stuck at the same time. Opportunity for the support team to demonstrate different recovery methods.

Crossing the sabkha  we went into an empty stretch of technical to medium size dunes, with very soft sand, with again very nice desert views. After a short break , a last portion of tech dunes  and a sabkha run  took us to a relaxing sand track and to the exit.

@Wayne Momsen, @Yury @Ozgu, congratulations for a first fewbie drive. A promising start into this new level. @Andrei S, thank you for the second lead, @Rob S and @Ishak, big thank you for the support, @frederic demolder, thank you for being part of the team today.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you soon !
