Morning Newbie Desert Drive - Straddling The Solar Tower - Dubai- 28 Mar 2026

Recommended Posts

DRIVE DESCRIPTION-WHAT TO EXPECT

The Majestic Solar Tower is a landmark in the Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. Starting from the little quaint town called Murquab along the E66, we will be heading in a southwest direction and try our best to find clean passages and get as close as possible to the tower. We plan to exit near the well-known three trees in Al Qudra.

All in all, some good learning and great fun with your Carnity friends!

Good morning all!

@Amr A@Amer Alsabbagh@Ghali Awa@Tej@ChrisW@Amr Morsy@Sam76@Raptor Runner - Praveen@Hartzel@Chema@Alex M@Noufal@Ana@Aser

Thanks for signing up! Taking into account the weather conditions and geopolitical situation, there are some points i wanted to highlight:

1. I moved the starting time from 7AM to 8AM. This should make it easier to reach in time considering the potential bad condition of the roads. But please try to arrive by 7.45AM so you still have time left to deflate a bit and set up your flag.

2. If you have received public alerts throughout the night and did not sleep well, better to cancel from your side. There will always be another drive. Look after your own safety and your family first.

3. Deflation parameters will be different. Upon arrival i would recommend only to deflate to 16-18psi. The sand will be very compacted due to the rains. If needed we can always adjust during the drive.

4. Obviously this will not be a dune-bashing style of drive. The hard sand will feel totally different to drive on. Let's just aim at exploring the terrain, taking the occasional break with a hot coffee, and socialize a bit. Let's make it relaxing.

5. We will be using Channel 10. Which is 446.231Mhz on our walkie talkies.

6. Better bring some warm clothes and a jacket. It will be chilly in the morning :)

Stay safe in the meantime and i hope to see you all in the morning!

Thanks again @Frederic - that was a perfect, relaxing morning drive in the desert.

Good work in second lead @Amr A - you helped straighten out a few rough spots for us! Was a real pleasure to support with @J-P L and @Aser too (…and loved to see the daft dogs too!).

Today’s sand was nice and easy but none the less, well driven by everyone - good convoy spacing, sensible lines and prompt radio comms. Perfect!
