@Rahimdad absolutely no offence taken and I agree with your points. I too have been part of workshops like you mention which always lead to me never working for them for long. Now I'm with Location Garage and I'm foreman, I have the chance to do work to the proper standard I'm used to working to in the uk. Many many times I have been asked to deliberately do shoddy work when with other companies. Now, before I carry out any work, I inform the customer of what needs to be done and how it will be done. They have the opportunity to read all my books and get all the information. Anyone is welcome to visit the garage any time and call in for tea, coffee and a chat. Work or no work.

If it's inside the dash it'll be tricky to track down but what you can do is stick bits of paper or card in all the gaps you see, beside the radio, glovebox lid etc. If you do them one at a time you should be able to find it. I kind of specialise in pajeros @Gaurav @DiamondDallas 😂

Hi Everyone, Not sure if anyone is following or not. My jeep now has 242000kms on it. It's a 2013 jeep wrangler sport. I had the cooling fan die on me at about 150000kms. That was around 3000dhs as it is a variable speed. At about 235000 I have developed the infamous pentastar ticking. I brought it to the dealer and they said it's a bad head. 7000+Dhs. Not sure what to do. The jeep runs great. Keep jeeping, Jeff

I am sure Barry has a copy, he is also the Pajero guru. Just take a USB stick and he will transfer the file for you while you sip on a cup of coffee.

You are welcome to the best car enthusiast gathering in one place in this region. Just a suggestion would be to know more about your vehicle and what it requires, otherwise majority of garages in Dubai will rip you saying they know and done all, charge you half the price what the dealers would have charged you to make you happy, but only change oil and leave car for half day. Don't be ignorant, pick up the car manual or find the information on the internet as to what is required on each service interval. Be informed, avoid getting robbed. Sorry Barry, this was not meant for you. Just a very general remark about the common practices in this region.

I spend a lot of time in Southern Africa, (South Africa in fact) where I still own a car repair shop that I visit from time to time, and I have seen the worst of Chinese cars there. I have seen them all, Geely, GWM, Chana, and a few others, and in my opinion as a professional mechanic, Chinese cars are among the worst vehicles in the world. Shoddy assembly, atrocious build quality, barely functioning electronics, and OBD II systems that date from the early 90's are the primary reasons why these vehicles cannot be imported into in the US. @Barry mentions GWM: This is a collection of various parts from Isuzu, Nissan, Toyota and other out-of-western-production pick-up trucks that manages to lose the best qualities of each donor brand with the result that nothing works as designed. There are other examples of the Chinese trying to resuscitate obsolete models and technologies, but I think I have made my point. Nonetheless, some of the US regulations have been relaxed, so some of the later Chinese models may be allowed there soon. @Barryis right about Korean cars though. When they first appeared in the West, all mechanics thought that they have seen the worst the world has to offer, but all of them, myself included, had been proven wrong- which I am happy to admit.

@Amar take it to @Barry he loves Pajeros even the dead ones can be alive by him. Mine and @Gaurav cars have made him Pajero Specialist. You would know once you take your Suv to him. In seriously your car will be in Good hands.

@Barry even has a license to breed Pajeros. He posted pictures of his prime breeding pair some time ago...

Scrapyards are generally a good place to find owners manuals. If the scrapyard has one of the cars, chances are there will be a manual in the glovebox. I used to make some spare cash going round the scrapyards at home, giving a bad price for all the manuals I could get my hands on then selling them on eBay.

Well same thing goes for many case's in automotive Industry: wheel alignment and balancing guys, Ac gas (freon) fill up guys, engine oil servicing guys doing 30+ points checkup. If and whenever possible, stand on the head and get the job done right in first time.

Hello, Just another update if any one is interested.. I have now over 115000 kms on my ride and have had zero problems. The engine light for the 06dd code never returned. I have switched over to synthetic oil at about 70K and also use Royal Purple synthetic for all my fluids. I know the argument over which type of oil and frankly I don't care. Its what you like and I am comfortable with using Royal Purple. I drive a lot and the extra protection is worth it.. Keep Jeeping...

Good Afternoon, Just an update on my jeep. My clock has now hit 78000kms. It has been exactly one year to the day when I bought her brand new. At 76000 I was driving and unable to go over 3500 rpm. It showed a 06dd code. I researched it online and it says something with oil pressure sensor, filter or pump. The problem lasted until I got home. The next day it was fine. I brought her to the dealership and they could not find any problems. They reset the code and we will wait and see. No other problems to report...

Hello, I do drive a lot..I drive about 125 kms each way just to my office. And the weekends we like to take her out as well. The jeep is pretty good on gas. I usually travel at about 130 kms/hr and my dash reads about 19-20 mpg. I usually get about 500 kms per tank of gas. So far I love the jeep, I just hate the mileage I put on her.. Good luck with yours...

HI, I purchased my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport in January of this year. I bought it new from the Jeep dealer in Abu Dhabi. I have put almost 30000 kms on the clock already and I have had no problems with it. I hope it continues that way..
