Thanks everyone for joining and making this drive a truly "unforgettable family get-together" with lot of adventures. Started little late due to rough weather and those who reached early enjoyed a second round of breakfast at meeting point. In all we had 10 cars from sports cars - 4x4's. Soon after we started few cars got deviated from the route due to bad visibility in windy weather and lack of coordination. Once we all join back we straight head to Kalba area from Maleiha road to enjoy the most scenic mountain view in the UAE. Due to lost time, we only managed to stop in one place through the mountain range and everyone clicked enough pictures for their social media profile and family portraits. Once we reached to Fujairah, to our our surprise whole corniche was closed due to some para games organized their from 18-24 Feb. We tried our luck for next Khorfakkan beach and we could find a sweet spot in grass and shade to settle all family and kids. By the time we reached khorfakkan, weather has changed completely for good and become very stable and pleasant (thank god). It was about 18-20 degrees with very slight drizzle (occasionally) along with nice and pleasant breeze. We settled down and opened our grand lunch buffet loaded with multi nationality specialty cuisine. Thanks everyone for bringing awesome finger licking food in such generous quantity for all. Next time for such Friday lunch, please skip the breakfast to save space for so many specialties. After a sumptuous lazy Friday lunch, it was an action time for all ages. Toddlers and younger kids have enough beach rides and sand toys to keep them occupied. Few decided to stay back and enjoy the chill time at beach and keep an eye on kids. We went straight to our much awaited adventure rides. Thankfully all activities in Fujairah beach and khorfakkan beach are same, so we haven't lost anything by change of place. First of all we decided to hit the Jet ski and though it was my first time, so I learned very well after my first fall off the jet ski with Govind. It was an amazing experience and I can easily co-relate this with off-roading as if you really wanna enjoy then go as fast as you can to glide above the bumpy waves. After that we aim for para sailing, again it was my first time in such adventure sport so I was ready for all surprises. By the time I reach on top I realize this isn't an adventure sport, it's a scenic ride. It was so slow, serene and calming to glide in a parachute above the sea and enjoy the beautiful mountain view is far from scary and thrilling. It was as similar as in flying in cesna in low altitude and enjoy the city view in Dubai. The only sad part about this ride was it lasted in less than 5 minutes and we landed much before we can actually capture anything. Last but not least almost everyone decided to go for a boat ride. More than the boat ride I personally enjoyed the real sport of negotiation with the boat guys as everyone offering different rates for per person and for full boat. So some of our expert negotiator's landed with different proposal and strategies to knock those boat guys down in a multi billion dollar deal, lol. Finally after 15-20 minutes of sporting session both parties came to an agreement and all of us went for a much awaited boat ride. As we reached half way, we realized that this boat trip was not for dropping all of us to the island but just to show the island and come back. Surprise.....! Anyways in the middle of Arabian Sea none of our expert negotiator's thought of challenging the boat guy and we quietly decided to come back to shore with a hope that next time we will visit that island. Overall it was one fully loaded road trip + family get-together + picnic + special lunch + endless adventures in super perfect weather on the beach. By 7:00 PM, we all started packing up our cars and ending up with a discussion for our next week location, which is already decided now and will be soon announced in trips section. It's a very special, unique and hidden "natural lake" in the desert. Hope to see everyone for this special surprise, as 90% of the people haven't visited this lake in UAE.

This is awkward, I am lost for words. Thank you Gaurav bhai for the great initiative and an amazing route and drive ending with a different kind of an adventure, loads of food and smiles on every face in our group. To top it all of what a wonderful trip report which takes me back to the drive and the moments that made the drive a successful one, with pictures which will stay ingrained in our memories forever. Thank you Girish Sir and Govind bhai for sharing the amazing pcs. We had a very young explorer and adventurer on our journey nic-named Happy and that about sums up the feeling within the group throughout our trip. Thank you to all for an amazing lunch which was so much and so well prepared that Gaurav bhai and I decided to just have a taste of everything, and I was so full that I barely had my dinner last night. At the end the choice was discussed with the group for the next adventure and a unanimous decision was reached which will be posted shortly. As described by Gaurav Bhai it is going to be a natural lake in the middle of the desert, which is completely different to the man-made lakes in Al Qudra area. It is the promise of a drive where normal saloons can go through and there are beautiful and slightly challenging dunes to satisfy those who have been bitten by the desert bug. This is not a spy shot, this escalade is pretty famous in Dubai, surprised no one knows about it, it called the Yeezy car. It's supposed to resemble a pair of Yeezy sneakers by Kanye West. Belongs to a rich Emarati 14yr old kid Rashid from the Bel Hasa family. He also goes by the name of Money Kicks, also has a YouTube channel with that name where the escalade can be seen in many if his videos. Where to get the time belt replaced??? That is the question faced by most Pajero Owners when they hear of the exorbitant quote by the dealership. Here’s my story. I own a 2009, 3.8 L, LWB Pajero. Until 90k,I regularly got all my service done at the dealership, this was because I has a service contract with them . But after that every 5000 -7000, Km I just got Oil and Filter change done at any Adnoc Lube. When I Reached 120K, I sought a quotation from the dealership for Timing Belt replacement along with 100/120K service. The price they quoted was shocking. AED 4,000 for Timing Belt Replacement, and AED 2,000 for the Service. Total AED 6,000. And this was a discounted promotional offer, according to the sales person. Since I felt this was exorbitant I kept searching for an alternative solution, by now the mileage had run up to 133k, Last week during a casual conversation , I was referred to Al Azrag Garage in Quassis, Dubai. This Is Owned by Mr Zaffar , a hardcore off-road enthusiast , and Crew and Marshal of Emarat 4X4. I am extremely happy with their work, at a fraction of what the stealership charges , and would recommend them to any Pajero owner. They kept the car overnight, and I could supervise the work most of the time. Before I went there, I did a little home work and made out a list of things which I wanted replaced, this I got from the service manual, table for things to replace at 100K and 120K. Also the specification of the Parts/Fluids to replace from the User manual. For the 3.8 liter 2006 model LWB Pajero ITEM SPECS 1 ENGINE TIMING BELT MD 358549 1 X 190= 190AED 2 SPARK PLUGS IRRIDIUM TIPPED IFR6B-K 6 X 50 = 300AED 3 AIR CLEANER ELEMENT/FILTER Was inspected and did not need replacement 4 ENGINE COOLANT SUPER LONG LIFE 10.5 LITERS 5 BRAKE FLUID DOT 3 OR DOT 4 Was Not Replaced 6 CLUTCH FLUID DOT 3 OR DOT 4 Was Not Replaced 7 FUEL FILTER MR 529135 1 X 95 = 95 AED 8 TRANSFER GEAR OIL Hypoid GL-3 SAE 75W-85 2.8 LITERS 9 DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL FRONT / REAR Hypoid GL-5 SAE 90 1.15 FRONT / 1.64 REAR 10 AIR PURIFIER FILTER IN CABIN Was Not replaced 11 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID ATF SPIII 9.7 LITERS (5 LX 2) 230 AED 12 ENGINE OIL ADNOC Voyager Silver 10W 40 , 5 Liters 13 ENGINE OIL FILTER MZ 690150 1 X 20 = 20 AED All Parts and Fluids were bought from Authorised Original Parts shops, like (DIVYA in Sharjah or Dubai), but not from the dealership. DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL Hypoid GL-5 SAE 90 was brought from Eppco Petrol Pump. Enoc makes this gear oil in the brand name “zenon”. 4 liter can for AED 72. Note I couldn’t find “ TRANSFER GEAR OIL Hypoid GL-3 SAE 75W-85 as specified in the manual ” so I replaced it with DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL Hypoid GL-5 SAE 90. This is your call, You could try to get this from the dealership. Anyway car works fine, Gears shift well , No problems. Little research as to what these numbers and Letters refer to. Example :Hypoid GL-3 SAE 75W-85 Hypoid is an abbreviation of hypocycloidal gears and relates to the geometry of the crown wheel and pinion arrangement usually on rear wheel drive cars and vans. The pinion is usually highly off-set to reduce propshaft intrusion into the passenger compartment. API stands for American Petroleum Industry and GL stands for Gear Lubricant, see below for their definitions: • API GL-1 Straight mineral oil. • API GL-2 Mild EP for worm gear oils. • API GL-3 Mild EP for spur and spiral bevel gears in axles and transmissions. Contain up to 2.7% anti-wear additives • API GL-4 Medium EP, moderate severity hypoid gears, manual gearboxes. Contain up to 4.0% effective anti-scuffing additives • API GL-5 High EP, all hypoid axles, some manual gearboxes. contain up to 6.5% effective anti-scuffing additives • API GL-6 Extra high EP, now obsolete. EP means extreme pressure and refers to the additive used in gear oils. This additive is designed to stop metal-to-metal contact taking place between transmission components. SAE stands for the Society of Automotive Engineers.The SAE Viscosity grade are only a measure for the viscosity of the lubricant oils and do not give any statement about the quality and compounds of the motor and gear oilSingle Grade oils are designed for only one SAE field, Multigrade Oils contain several SAE fields. Summery. Its time we moved away from dealerships and their cutthroat pricing. Garages Like Al Azrag ( GPS Coordinates N 25.28902, E055.40527 )are a ray of hope for those of you who want quality work but do not want to get robbed in the bargain. Definitely recommended.

Thanks Rahim for this wonderful surprise as I myself have never visited this natural lake and heard a lot from hand full of people. People getting serious for regular off-roading please consider buying radio and inflator now at least as these two things are the first off-road gear you will need in every future off-road drive.

@Barry Sadly it happens here, but you don't see the papers shouting out about them, the less you know the better I guess. I have had one friend in Al Khan area in Sharjah who rushed into his house to get some urgent documents and left the car running, when he came back out it was missing. He reported it to the police and luckily one of our common friend found it 2 days later in the Sharjah Industrial Area, he notified the police that he had found the car and the car was in Police custody for around a month to check for finger prints and found out who did it. After about 2 months they found out that it was a bunch of kids playing a prank and got away with a warning and a call to their parents. My friend was cursing why he told the police when he could have just taken his car and report back in 2 days, rather than the police wasting his time for over a month. His only fault was he left the car running with his keys in it. False sense of security. Another friend had his vehicle stolen in the middle of the night from Ajman, police found it after 1 month on the Ras Al Khaimah highway burnt to a crisp. third party insurance meant that it was a loss for him. Maybe the kids here just do it for a prank, but they are playing with someones savings and investment. Last year I thought my car was stolen when I looked throughout the unpaved parking where I usually park my car. I went to the police station and they told me to check with the Sharjah Municipality, after checking with them, they were the thief's and I had to pay a fine and retrieve the car from the middle of the desert near Ras Al Khaimah as they thought it was an abandoned car. I could not say much but I did protest that the car was under loan, being paid for, was insured and registered for another 8 months, their excuse than changed to the car was dirty and thus gave an impression of being abandoned. Pulling my car the way they did ended up in the tires, engine mount and some suspension parts being destroyed which further cost me a small fortune that no one can afford after a vacation. For more horror stories, stay tuned to the one and only....Hehehehehe

@Barry you have managed to scare the sh!t out of anyone interested to buy the Range Rover. My cousin brother has owned Range Rover Supercharged for over 4 years completing 120K Kilometers and now has the new one from last year. As @Gaurav has mentioned for a 4 year old car there should be warranty which is why my cousin sold his in 4 years in the first place. Plus the latest offers include a 100K service as well which is a plus. However, resale value is not that great, but for the inclusions on a new car purchase its a fair deal I suppose. The only down side I see to this thing is the Al Tayer is the stealership, ops I meant dealership.

Wondering why 4 year old Range doesnt have warranty...? Is this Ali's car you meant? What is the odometer reading? Thanks for killing my hidden desire and love for Range rover - over and over again.

I look after a 4 year old HSE for a customer. In the past 8 months I've rebuilt the engine, two new front suspension units have been fitted, new front level sensor, new water pump, front lower arm bushes, rear wheel bearings, rear subframe bushes, front and rear drop links, 2 cv joint boots, new brakes all round inc discs and pads, fixed a problem where the dashboard said the bonnet was open when it wasn't. Someone else has rebuilt the rear differential at some point too. None of these were cheap repairs. This will give you some idea of what to expect in terms of reliability down the line. On the plus side, they are a comfortable vehicle to drive and you can play warning light bingo every time you go out.

But Unfortunately Pajero also had another meaning in Spanish.   Pajero Spanish slang word meaning 'He who fiddles with himself for sexual gratification'.
