  3. If it's your first time, I'd recommend going on one of the Carnity desert drives. You'll be safe and if you get stuck, someone will be there to pull you out. Learn the basics before you go out alone.

  4. Hi guys, Alf over at U-Fix-it garage pointed me towards this place. Looking around a bit and it seems pretty nice. I have an older 2006 CTS-V1 that has been modified a bit. Mostly suspension and rear end, long tubes and high flow cats plus tuning. Total list of things changed is KW Var 3 coils, 5 lug conversion, 2010 Camaro SS rotors, poly bushings, poly cradle mounts, new drive shaft, LS7 clutch setup, wilwood master cylinder, long tube headders into high flow cats and a H pipe, new head lights, short throw shifter, I also run a Ford 8.8 irs rear end with DSS axles, tuning, cold air intake tube I built and various other little changes. I do a very good portion of my own manitenance whenever possible. I also own a tech 2 if anyone needs it. -Byron Click the link below to a high quality exhaust video with DB meter reading.

  5. I bought a good one a couple of years ago in Dubai. Had a problem at first with the memory card, but once that was sorted, it worked a treat. Don't have the brand name with me, however I'm back in Dubai this weekend and I will look it up and post the details. Also, I would take @Barry advice and buy two. I have been rammed in the back four times.

  6. If it has LSD and only one wheel is spinning, then there is a problem with the differential. You may get away with adjusting it. You won't know until you open it and check. Maybe it was never adjusted to start with. Too many mechanics here just stick parts in and have no understanding of what they're doing. Ask them if the backlash and pinion height are correct and they'll ask what's backlash?

  7. Sorry, I should have worded my statement better. I do not condone anyone driving on the road without a license or breaking any other laws. What I wanted to say is that it's better for people to learn off road first before they hit the traffic with minimal knowledge, potentially causing accidents. By off road, I mean on private land, unrestricted car park, flat desert tracks etc. Get caught driving without a license in U.K. you're liable for a similar ass kicking as you are here. I was lucky, I grew up on a farm and there was endless forest tracks and fields to drive around. Where im from, Northern Ireland, still technically part of the U.K., driving on the road is not so much of an issue. The rural areas are controlled by paramilitaries and the police are scared to come into the areas so it's pretty much anything goes as long as you don't annoy your neighbor.

  8. @desertdude Not necessarily, you just need a driver to get there and back. Im all for people learning to drive before they get their license. I did it and I'm all the better for it. The whole education system of teaching people to drive on the road from scratch isn't good. Far better to learn off road than start mingling with traffic when you're still capable of mixing up the clutch, brake and accelerator pedals.

  9. Can't recommend a specific brand but I can recommend buying 2. One for the front and one for the back. 90% of the accidents here seem to be rear end collisions. It's good to keep your ass covered, literally speaking.
