  1. This newbie drive was truly filled with new surprises. We welcome two newbies - Faraz Ahmed with FJC and Faizan Ahmed with Xterra. Both were eager to learn, well prepared and ready to test their beast capabilities. As we entered our best sandbox for training, within few hours we have reached to the right side of Pink Rock in medium range dunes. Usually, this area is for 2nd or 3rd newbie drive, but the convoy response and two newbies kept me motivated to explore new boundaries. The second surprise was to see Noor after a very long time and that too with a wedding ring in his finger. Congrats buddy. The third was the Sertac holding on to sweep duties for the first time with very capable and controlled command. Good job. As we reach the Pink Rock and played for a while and then all the cars crossed on to the other side to find a good spot for the break. Just before we could end the drive, both the newbie decided to test our recovery skills in very surprising stuck - next to each other and FJC rested fully on the front and back bumpers. That was a sight to be held, I hope someone can share the pic here for that historic stuck for winning a best stuck ever contest. My pictures have been uploaded in the gallery, please share your clicks too in the same drive album. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/72-newbie-drive-pink-rock-13-apr-2018/

  2. Does anyone still read magazines and if so, which ones and where do you get them? I love reading stuff on the internet but back in the day, magazines used to be a real event. You waited a month for the next issue, made your way to the nearest town to pick them up and spent the next 2 weeks sitting on the toilet reading them, staring at the pictures and picking up as much information as you could I used to buy Max Power, Fast Car, Cars and Car Mechanics, Classic Car, Auto Trader, Classic Ford, Fast Ford, plus whatever else I could get my hands on. I started collecting around 1994 and built up a pretty respectable collection including lots of obscure French, German and Japanese stuff. I gave them all away when I came to UAE though. The only one I’ve really seen freely available here is wheels and I didn’t find it too impressive.

  3. It was my first experience which was great with the whole convoy. A special thanks to @Gaurav and @sertac for their help and advice during some very (VERY VERY) tricky situations. It was the right combination of learning with various challenges and fun along the way.

  5. Mine was Schumi as I started watching at the time he was racing with Ferrari. There were a couple of seasons where he used to drive an underpower Ferrari and compete with McLaren's DC and Mila Hakkinen. Enjoyed those seasons the most, especially his drives in wet conditions. I always admired his thirst for victory by pushing the limits both in terms of the car as well as the rules. It's a pity that today he is confined to a bed.

  6. Have you seen the KITT vs KARR episode? My favorite 80s car has got the be the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard. I grew up on the stock car scene so it is king to me. I even put the same air horn in the first Ford escort I had. If I had a dirham for every time I launched off a jump and hit the air horn, I wouldn't need to work in Dubai now 😂 i also loved the a team van. I used to scoot my toy one round the floor and scare the shit out of the cat. Mr T was a bad ass mofo.
