  2. UPDATE Got it checked with a key maker as suggested, turns out the key had apparently lost its memory. Thank God. So just spent about AED 250 to get the key reprogrammed as well as an additional key. Saved me the hassle of changing the receiver, computer and what not. Thanks guys

  3. As we have been respecting authorities guidance & Carnity COVID guidelines to resume desert drives with caution by keeping social distance and wearing mask at all times outside the vehicle Unfortunately few off-roaders have difficulty in understanding and abiding these guidelines. As published in the national newspaper of UAE, everyone need to understand that still there are no gatherings allowed and authorities are issuing fine for 10,000 AED for host and 5,000 AED for attendees. https://gulfnews.com/uae/health/people-caught-violating-covid-19-safety-instructions-prosecuted-1.1591381059748 If you spot anyone stepping out of the car not wearing a mask, please remind them on the radio immediately. As we all are in this together, so we all have to help each other to remind. Failing to abide below list of restriction will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club: FIRST WARNING Minimum 1 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. SECOND WARNING Minimum 6 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. If you do not like these restrictions, please stay at home and do not join for any off-road drives. Every Carnity Off-road Club Member has to COMPLY WITH THESE COVID19 GUIDELINES FACE MASK IS MANDATORY, WHENEVER YOU STEP OUT - NO EXCUSES. LEARN TO CONFIGURE YOUR RADIO, before the drive. Nobody will teach you or exchange radios like before. Read the detailed instructions posted here - to configure. If you still cannot configure, ask on forum ahead of time. Click "TOTALLY AGREE" Emoji here before RSVP any drive or else trip lead will remove your name.

  9. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED: This is the convoy list for tomorrow: Please make sure your radio is set to channel 1: 446.00625 Mhz and switched on when you arrive at deflation point. Also make sure the other Carnity channels are programmed into your radio so we can switch to another channel when needed. Members who have not clicked "totally agree" on the BAN post, will not be allowed to join the drive, as we want to have formal acknowledgement that you have understood our rules and precautions. Please take note we are not meeting at the old meeting point in Al Qudra. This new meeting point is a few kilometers further down the road, where you have a sand track that leads into the desert. Double check the Google Maps coordinates. Keep your distance when deflating and do not "gather" upon arrival. Deflate your vehicle and step back in the car so we can convey the briefing over the radio. Whenever you need help to deflate, announce on the radio and a senior or marshal will come to assist. Make sure you have a deflator, flag, and your radio. See you tomorrow !

  11. In this difficult times whole world "policy" is to stay safe and continue doing what we were with minimal restrictions. We were probably the first offroad club in the UAE to have "COVID Compliance offroad drives" posted publically by implementing strict restriction to safeguard everyone. To be in full compliance with authorities guideline and yet manage the convoy, we have restricted each drive to 10-15 cars at max. And doing that itself was a borderline challenge that we have to issue a new ban policy for the first time in Carnity history last week. I fully understand your enthusiasm and disappointment to not to able to join the drive, but wait for tomorrow as we always have maximum plus and minus on Thursday. And once you drive with carnity offroad club, I'm sure you will understand that why drives here get filled within few hours of posting. Kindly make sure that your name is in the wait list for the drive that you wish to join.

  14. Great idea @Desert Dweller, at one point @Barry had suggested to have a session which would give everyone the basic knowledge of how the car operates and some basic tools and stuff. Maybe @Barry can help with such a session. It would also be helpful if @Jeepie, @Vanessa8580 and more people can join to make this session lower cost for all and @Barry could address several people in one session. What say @Barry? Do you want to launch a session which you had spoken about earlier but died due to no interest at that point?

  16. Yes you are right @Rahimdad bhai and i must appreciate your memory for remembering this issue as even i almost forgot about it 😬.The kill switch didn't work the first time for me, because the garage didn't fix it properly, and they finally sorted it out the second time around. Its strange because that garage is a well known place(that i dont go to anymore) that does major off road modifications and the installation of a kill switch is such a simple procedure that a few off roaders have done it themselves.

  32. @Desert Dweller instead of pressing the button, try press and hold for about 10 or 20 seconds to check if it completely switches off. If not I guess you will need to do a little more research before you go ahead with any mods. I think @Shamil has already been through the worst phase as after he installed a kill switch first drive he could not engage it in 4x4, a second visit was required to get a proper job done.

  40. Thank you @Chaitanya D @Emmanuel, @Asif Hussain the option you have mentioned is fantastic but I decided to go with kill switch as I am completely new for off roading and also in understanding cars. Will post the kill switch pictures shortly , it’s getting installed as we speak.

  41. ABS kill requires the fuse to be removed from the fuse box in xterra (as per the map) which dont have ABS switch on dash, but it tends to light up some warning signs on dash. Best is to install a ABS kill switch which many garages do (about 50 to 100AED )considering that you will be driving it off road frequently.

  42. I still dont understand why people have to be warned with penalty /fine while all this is being done for their own safety and well being! Stay safe all of you 🙏😷
