  5. I am really pleased about this @Lorenzo Candelpergher, as I have watched your journey over the last months, probably in the same way that I feel @Rahimdad @Gaurav @Srikumar and @Frederic we watching over my development in Carnity [and look where that got me 😂]. I think you have been on more of my lead drives than anyone else which is why it so pleasing to see that you have been awarded this rank. Just goes to prove that you CAN succeed even when the drives are a disaster! You've listened to everything that has been said and taken the feedback and made the changes, improving your poise and capability all the time. I am delighted to welcome you to the seniors group in the team and look forward to digging out people on one of your drives some time soon.

  8. Short Report - Qudra Round About Today's drive was a triumph. I guess I could end the report there, because bluntly, we had an incredible convoy, that handled everything thrown at them excellently, great team work was dsiplayed and we practiced and practiced until it got dark. So, from my side, a big thanks. A few people get special notes (sorry if I miss you out - it's only because I was at the front!) @syed salman raza: I really hope you sorted out the clutch. Thanks for being so positive about it and taking the right action and not coming with us on the drive. @Malachy McGrogan: Excellent in 2nd lead - especially considering that you have never done it before. You left a clear track for eveyone else behind you and helped them keep on track immaculately. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA: Considering how many drives you have under your belt, your assistance today was invaluable and impressive. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ: considering that you only got teh new wheels yesterday - great drive. It takes time to get used to a new car and it looked by the end of the drive you were really starting to understand the car. @Anvar Sadath Bekal: Firstly, nice to see you back with us after a long break - looks like you are getting back the hang of it quickly. @Jack Thomas: Well done for getting your space at the last moment and making the beast look easy to drive. So pleased we were able to drive you straight to the camping ground of your friends in Qudra as part of teh service. Try signing up earlier next time. Normally there is a wait list. @Sai Baskaran I know you were on the wait list for another drive. I hope that this justified making the decision to come on this. You probably learned quite a lot about recoveries! Please remember, once you are on the move - keep moving! @RAKIN KURIAKOSE that Pathfinder is doing well under your control. I think you managed almost without problem - unless caused by being a little too close to the car in front that slowed your momentum. @Sharooq Fassul and @Mahmoud Asar - you were a bit too far for me to see a lot of what you did, but i guess the fact I did not hear about you means that Jeepie had a quiet day at the end of the convoy. @Jeepie: thanks for leeping everything in order at the end of the convoy. It was quite a quiet day for you which is testament to the great driving by the whole convoy. We covered more than 40km on the drive today. That's amazing for a newbie drive so you should all be very pleased and proud of what you achieved today. See you soon in the sand.

  11. With the tremendous increase in the number of COVID cases in the UAE, we all have to be responsible while off-roading. Failing to abide by any single precaution at any time during the drive, will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club. ZERO TOLERANCE First offender - 1 Month Ban. Second offender - 3 Month Ban. Third offender - lifetime ban and report to authorities. COVID19 PRECAUTIONS 2.0 All Carnity off-road drives will be LIMITED to driving only: No Socializing and gathering allowed at any time. No break for taking photos, breakfast, smoking, etc. No exchanging of off-road or recovery gears. Wear a mask at all times, while outside your vehicle. For passengers restrictions, follow RTA or NCEMA guidelines. All passengers should be inside the car, at all times. Maintain a minimum of 2-meter social distance at all times. Sanitize your hands and recovery gear after use. PS1. If you and your passenger cannot sit inside your vehicle for 3-4 hours please DO NOT JOIN CARNITY DRIVES. PS2. A Member who has RSVP the drive is RESPONSIBLE and LIABLE for their passenger's compliance. PS3. The above precautions apply to everyone irrespective of their vaccination status or schedule. PS4. You can confidentially submit the photo of any offender by sending an email to [email protected]. How to comply Read the drive post before arriving at the meeting point, so that you know your convoy numbering and radio channel. Arrive at the meeting point and switch on your radio to the pre-set frequency of the drive. Stop your vehicle at least 10-20 meters away from each other. Deflate your tires, while wearing a mask, and then go back inside your car. All briefings will be done on the radio now, so pay full attention to a briefing for your own safety. After the briefing, fall in your convoy position just before the drive starts. While driving if you get stuck, announce on the radio and be inside your car at all times. Trip lead and/or support will guide you on the radio for self-recovery or tow-rope recovery. While there is a stuck or a refusal, everyone else supposed to be inside their car at all times. You can only take a bio-break during the drive, by requesting trip lead permission. Once the drive is over exit out to inflate by maintaining 10-20 meters distance from each other. 25. Hi Jordan, Engine tuning in the form of chiptuning will indeed bring more power, but personally i would not recommend it if your car has done more than 100k already. Unless the engine has been rebuilt of course. The 3.5 is indeed borderline underpowered, but with a SWB they are luckily not that very heavy. When you want that bit of extra power, where do you feel you are lacking power currently ? - Climbing big dunes. - Overall desert driving / dune bashing. - On the road. Be aware that big and heavy tyres rob you from a lot of power. I would recommend to get the vehicle thoroughly inspected first (injectors, spark plugs, clean air filter), and then take it from there. I've seen many cars underperforming in the desert but when i asked them when they got their spark plugs or injectors serviced the answer was "never.... i only change my oil".. A cold air intake in combination with a less restrictive exhaust will help a bit too once you have verified if the engine, injectors, plugs etc.. are in optimal condition.

  26. Hello @asifk. As per our rules (and the Gov.t's) more than 3 people are allowed, as long as they come from the same household. Thanks Thanks Fred. @Gok Krish, see the link above. In case of more issues, please look for Murqaab's mosque. We'll be just a few meter past it. Thanks

  27. Hi everyone. Unfortunately for the 2nd week in a row I’ll have to cancel my place. I still haven’t got my Jeep from the seller. The car is all fine just a very long story about the transfer of ownership, which incidentally isn’t really the sellers fault. my car is a manual Wrangler 2012. I’ll try again next week. enjoy your drives everyone and stay safe.

  28. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Please find your convoy numbering for tomorrow posted below: Some pointers: 1) Please be aware of our COVID rules and follow them strictly. Drivers and passengers coming out of the vehicle during inflation/deflation should wear a mask at all times. We are not allowed to socialize so we need to stay inside the vehicle during the drive. 2) Please make sure to bring your Newbie gears: A programmed radio, flag, shovel, pressure gauge and deflator. We will not be providing spare radios and will reject you from joining the drive if you do not have these items with you. Having said that, we are having a strong convoy and excellent support. @Pancho will be our centre forward and your first help in need if there is an issue in the front of the convoy. @Foxtrot Oscar (Angela) will be sweeping our convoy and will be assisting with recoveries as well at the end of the convoy. (who ever is closest will come and assist). Our plan is to hit all the play areas and make our way to Fossil Rock. This area is rich with vegetation and beautiful sights. If any of you cannot make it, please inform us on the drive topic so we can try to add someone from the waiting list. See you guys tomorrow !

  31. @Paul Zeitoun please confirm that you have rear tow hitch receiver, without which we don't allow any vehicle to join off-road drives. This below hitch empty bracket is not acceptable. And those two flimsy holes on either side aren't tow hook and they are for holding your trailer chains Welcome @Nathan Evans Jimny are super cute desert toy and reasonably capable for off-road drives. Please RSVP on the calendar

  36. Well done @Frederic for taking so much time to share this great off-road knowledge. Very well explained and documented with perfect diagrams and videos. Only thing I like to add for all new offroaders, learn and follow above instructions to the max but never fight the gravity. If you had a bad feeling for any side sloping, criss crossing attempt, exit safely and make another attempt rather than fighting the gravity. Small deviation of track can also cause lot of difficulty and push the car to the soft patch, in that case simply accept the defeat and exit down without fighting with mother nature. Even experienced offroader do have refusal and repeat without any hesitation, that's the real fun and challenge of offroading.
