  9. I would still opt for TE as saving 9K for the cost of 250 = 3.6% cost benefit VS possible drama due to miscommunication, authority, etc when some big fat warranty claim arises.

  17. Just a crazy thought - what’s the price of 392. I believe it already comes with most of these additions, might be an option to explore. Around 4K for 2 years, 4 service from TE.
    2 points
  18. Hello Guys! FYI, After some negotiations for the same specs as TE, Offroad Zone agreed to give a discount on the stock price as @Vaibhavsaid they are buying vehicles from Abu Dhabi, so it comes with 3 years warranty, an Extra warranty of 2 years, and a service package 3 years will cost an additional AED 11000/-; total would be AED 2,46000/- whereas at TE it was 254900/- If we choose Offroad Zone, optional modifications are also covered by warranty.

  23. My Gladiator Sandrunner came from Western motors in Abu Dhabi , it had only 34km and had never been registered, but I bought it from Cars24 , I did get a very good price. And it comes with a lot of standard upgrades like larger axles, fox remote reservoir shocks, rear locker, bed lined and railed, aux buttons, plus other features.. the Sandrunner/Mojave is worth a look I’m guessing the 2024 models won’t be seen here until q2 2024.

  24. Drive Report: We started the drive at 7 am and as soon as we entered the desert, I had a pop-out. After a quick fix we started only to find lush vegetation in the desert. It was more like driving on a riverbed than in the desert. I drove in this area many times last year and this very specific track with @Kailas and it was an incredibly fun experience, and while I did expect a little bit of vegetation in the beginning, but it was supposed to be nice medium size dunes thereafter, but the terrian has changed a lot since then, and there is this layer of green grass everywhere. Suppose this is artificially done as the authorities try to protect the power generation area from sand from the desert. Alas we will miss this area in the future. We took a short break halfway through the drive and found ourselves engaged in two groups, consisting of Jeep and non-Jeep drivers engaging in discussions on living with our cars, car mods and what not. After a while, we continued our journey, and at one point, it seemed like we were scraping to the bottom of the desert. However, we picked up the pace and enjoyed playing in the long but small dunes, crisscrossing our way through them. As we entered the final sector of our drive, we finally saw some taller dunes compraed to what we have done till now and with beautiful sand, obviously we couldn't wait to play there. Unfortunately, Islam's car overheated, so we took a break for the car to cool down and then we were back on track to exit the drive on time. We exited the desert around 11 am, and I must say, the drive was a remarkable experience. I want to thank @Juan R, @Rk ram, @george charbel, @Rajat Verma, @Sunil Mathew, @Daniel Rodas who participated in the drive and hope to see you all soon again for another thrilling adventure in the desert. I would like to thank @Kailas, @Islam Soliman & @DP1011 for their incredible support throughout the drive.

  25. Dear Desertnauts, as if I didn't have enough business trips (which have lately taken a little away from my off-roading), I have just finished preparing for another trip, this time for pleasure, which will bring me away from Dubai for the next 10 days. It's going to be a bit of a trip down memory lane, like the long overland adventures I used to enjoy, once or twice a year, while taking groups of travelers, mostly to North Africa's Sahara. This one is going to be an exploration drive to Saudi Arabia, from Dubai to Tabuk, via many hopefully amazing sites, and back. I have just finished to load up the FJ, which I have decided not to equip with a roof rack, or any other loading and storage gimmick, in the spirit of keeping the car as stock as possible and manage its cargo accordingly. The boot is organized with two layers of 2 boxes each, with a row of stripped-down recovery tools crammed at the back of the booth, secured against the backseats (shovel, kinetic rope and soft shackles, hard wood board, hydraulic jack, a mixed toolbox, and the compressor). The boxes contain the dry food pantry, cooking equipment, mixed items (mostly kitchen tools, and an ice chiller. Between the two rows of boxes there has remained enough space to put the tent and 2 foldable chairs. The suitcases (soft bags, stuffed inside a loose and large outer cover accommodating also an inflatable air mattress, toilet paper, a spray bottle, and a pillow) will be placed on the back seat, separated by a small ice box containing some munchies for the trip. The space between the front and back seats is packed with a picnic table, and a supply of water. I have planned not to take any extra gasoline, since it'll be possible to find gas stations quite regularly along the planned route. The availability of gas stations will also allow to manage the water supply, which will be limited to 8 lt. per person every 2 days (4 lt. each day, sufficient for drinking and cooking). Washing will be done by spraying any unused fresh water, but mostly with wet towels. Of course, in case of purely off-road long trips, an adequate supply of water (no less than 3lt/person/day) and gasoline (for an extra autonomy of at least 5/600 km) would have forced me to mount a roof rack to carry these critical goods. While looking to minimize the upgrades to the car, I have also chosen not to bring an electrically charged chiller and no extra battery pack. Charging of phone, PC, lamps, or air pumps will be done with a converter (700 W capacity) charged through the car's lighter (with the option to accommodate 4 USB's and a regular socket). To complete the preparations, travelers to Saudi need to get a Tourist Certificate from RTA (provided upon presentation of a Carnet de Passage from Emirates Motorsport Organization), a visa (1-year validity, multi entry), and a car insurance, obtainable at customs. So, now that all is ready, I'll update you on the trip one day at the time, with a few notes on the areas visited, a picture of the day, and the track completed each day. Looking forward to showing you what I find, with the goal, eventually, to organize an overland sometimes next winter. Let the adventure begin!

  28. @Vijaya Kumar Doppa Dubai dealers give 5 years warranty and Abu Dhabi dealer gives 3 years. But it does not mean you cannot extend your warranty. Its just a gimmick the dealers do. Other sellers like Offroadzone and Jeepers source their vehicles from Abu Dhabi hence you will get a 3 year warranty but without service package. My suggestion is to do the comparison between both Dubai and Abu Dhabi dealers with price. May be Abu Dhabi dealer would be cheaper as they offer 3 years warranty and no service package. You can always extend the warranty and also take a service package after buying it. No dealers offers extra 2 years warranty and service package free of cost. They add it to the cost of the vehicle. Insurance do not take from the dealer as it is always higher. Take it from outside where you should save around 2k. With regards to the which model, Go for Rubicon as it has a stronger Axel compared to the sports and Sahara model hence you will not have to reinforce it. Plus bigger tires, Lifted by 1 inch and Aluminum bumper where you can fix fog lights later on. But finally depends if you would like to spend that amount. One point for you to remember is any modification you do for any part you lose the warranty for that part. Modification shops will convince you do stuff to your car which is not required and eventually will lift their hands if it is not covered under warranty. Your stock jeep is very capable without any modifications. Just buy a jeep and fix a flag and your ready to go. Good luck and Great choice.

  31. I may have misspoke , don’t believe the head gasket went, shall know shortly. 2no gasket cylinder head covers, one of each bank. And a kit of seals to go in the covers. Lttle higher up in the engine for then the head gasket and seemingly a common item to leak as it ages. The covers are made of plastic too. Then we have the pcv valve as you replace at the same time. Then the crankshaft oil seal Followed by The timing chain gasket kit. Plus a some random other seals and a whole coolant refill as the front of the car and radiator came off to get access to the engine.

  39. @Gary F normal story with Jeep. Oil leaks but nothing to worry. I had faced this issue and i was informed that it was just the seal that was cracked. Also you may face water pump issue as the current JL and JT have this issues occurring. I got mine replaced twice in 3 months under warranty. Jeep is good until the warranty is there. Once warranty gets over be ready to shell out some bucks.

  40. I'd be interested to find out why it has different bolts. It could suggest a previous repair and that the oil pan has been off before, bolts broken and not replaced properly. . . . . . .
