  1. Hello, not too late to post a report I believe, Badayer with @Hisham Masaad means a lot of expectations and I can safely say all of them were fulfilled We started on time with a long convoy entering the desert for a warm up phase which was quickly completed without much incidents and entered the yalla push phase which was a mix of climbing, refusals, pop outs etc and after about an hour of climbing, we exited with a fast pace to ensure everyone gets back to work and @Hisham Masaad to get to his kid's school @Hisham Masaad's lines were just too perfect and were bordering on fewbie plus level at some times when he felt the convoy was up for it. Did a couple of nice step by step climbing of big Badayer dunes. Exit was bang on time as usual from @Hisham Masaad. @Ignacio Quindรณs rose up the occasion and was an impeccable SL. Couldn't see much of you buddy as I was all the way back. @Issam Atra Bro, your jeep is too good and your driving matched it. Couldn't hear you on the radio for any refusal/stuck which says a lot about your skills. @Dev_ It was great meeting you and it's a blessing to learn desert driving in a full SUV. Do remember that you have a very potent V8 under the hood. Don't be afraid to unleash it. Most refusals can be avoided by building a good momentum. Great drive and loved your calm temperament. @Srilakshman Karthikeyan Nice meeting you bro. No instance of refusal or stuck from you as well. Your driving is fewbie plus level @Haneef Thayyil You're handling the Y62 with such ease man. Your driving skills are also beyond fb level. @Abhilash Kottakkal Each drive is a learning opportunity bro. You did well for your 4th fewbie drive. Regarding the popouts, I feel there is something wrong with your rim for those tires. Those tyres at 13 psi shouldn't pop out so frequently. Do get this checked. On the bright side, you are not shy on the gas and open your engine nicely which is a good thing and before i forget, your car sounds too good man. I wonder why? It sounds better than bigger stock motors. @DP1011 Nothing to say really. As usual, perfect support, perfect driving, perfect radio instructions for self recovery and pop out fixing competition winner ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ @Abdelghani and I had a nice relaxing drive at the back. Having learnt from the master himself, you just floated over the dunes in a relaxed state. I was just following you mindlessly man. In the end, it was the perfect start to the weekend. See you guys next week in the sands, Until then, Stay calm and check your tyre pressure!

  4. The confused mind of a desert wanderer, by @Frederic I was half in mind, I was half in need And as the rain came down I dropped to my knees and I prayed I said, "Oh heavenly thing, please cleanse my soul I've seen all on offer and I'm not impressed at all" I was halfway home, I was half insane And every shop dune I looked at, just looked the same I said, "Now send me a sign to save my life 'Cause at this moment in time there is nothing certain in These days of mine" You see it's a frightening thing when it dawns upon you That I know as much as the day I was born And though I wasn't asked, I might as well stay And promise myself each and every day That when you're knocked on your back and your life's a flop And when you're down on the bottom there's nothing else But to shout your convoy to the top Well we're gonna shout them to the top We're gonna shout them to the top

"I found it interesting that the dunes would push me into the narrow technical area repeatedly and I had to keep getting out only to find myself back in the narrow technical area" This area is known for that, if you are not careful it drags you into the technical dunes which can be challenging. Fayah has a special place in my heart as i came here first in July2021 and it quickly became one of my favorite areas. 26. I have a small poll on this post appended to the first drive post at the beginning of the thread request participants of the drive to respond to it. Please keep reading the Drive Report to learn more. Drive Report: Encouraged by my previous drive a couple of weeks ago I wanted to redo it again as an easy drive. I even tried to change the track a bit to make it even easier; but we were mostly driving on the same track as last time. As it turned out, in the end it was anything but easy. There were some initial hiccups for sure, it was a good learning experience; I hope for everyone. While at every break and at every refusal I kept telling myself and the team that it is going to be easy next - that easiness seemed elusive for most part. There was a section where we could drive effortlessly and at a fast pace in between wide-open dunes but soon we ended up in a technical area. After the first few refusals and the couple of breaks it seemed we would have had to extend the drive a bit if we were to finish at Lisaili. When I saw that we were on a track that was going towards Qudra, I decided that it would be better for us to exit at Qudra on time rather than go to Lisaili and extend the drive. I have a survey question in this regard my decision on ending the drive when I did. What is your opinion on it? The Learnings: One important lesson we have learnt today is that one should sense if one's car is moving or not in a stuck situation and decide how much gas they must give. A simple formula for it is: Is the car moving? Yes - yes, then give gas No - no, don't give much gas because the car will dig itself and make the situation worse. But in either case the RPM must be about 1500 not more. Another thing that we also experienced & hopefully learnt is that one must feel the sand under one's car, and if it seems soft on the wheels, then must give more gas, but avoid getting stuck, if one does get stuck or has slowed down significantly then avoid giving any more gas. In the first refusal where we had 3 cars get stuck, what did we do? We reversed and then tried again. Often reversing from a stuck position helps becuase, the car gets out of the churned-up sand that is stopping it in front of the tires plus the car moves to a cleaner patch of desert. Reversing also has more torque that helps to move the car a bit more easily than going forward even in first gear. After reversing, look for a clean track and move slowly at first and then floor the gas to get out of the patch. Credits: The Jeep gang had a remarkable drive except for just one refusal where we had to pull @Deepak Eswar from a crested position. @Ben Williams love to see your TJ doing its magic in every drive. Thank you @Juan R for an excellent 2nd lead and you were perfect. The Pajero gang and just one refusal at the start but with @Ishak opening the account but thereafter it was smooth sailing. @Srilakshman Karthikeyan - you had a great drive. In the Xterra mafia, @Zulfikhar Naiyar - you have shown your expertise with the car and the terrain. @Sreenath G after the initial hiccup where you too got stuck behind Ishak, you drove well in the rest of the drive. Also, thanks for the sweets in the first break. I realized it is a tradition to offer sweets when you have a new car. Hope by the end of the drive you have become a bit more comfortable with the manual gears. The FJ gang had one new Fewbie with @Shiju Raju and you too faced the first batch of refusal. and thereafter it was mostly smooth sailing for you. I will look forward to seeing you in many more drives in the future. @Johannes Roux you too had almost a perfect drive. It so happens that FJs do get stuck unnecessarily where others are having a break. I had this experiance first hand from yesterday when the FJ somehow decideded that it is too soft and it should get stuck when we were having a break. I would like to take this opportunity to thank @Rob S and @Imran Asghar for their support to the drive. I could not have done this without your help at the back.

  28. Drive Report: There were a couple of missed time calculations for reaching the meeting point. I was early by 45 min and @Rajiv Sam that he arrived about time thanks to @Joji varghese. @Andrei S arrived on time but unfortunately his air conditioner was not working so he had to leave. After the briefing we started our drive at about 6:28 am. The temperature was about 27-28 degrees Celsius but due to humidity which was at 93% it felt like 35 degrees, and it was super sweaty. I have a small gripe. I could see rest of the convoy with their AC on and closed widow glass up but due to poor visibility as it was not only foggy but also slightly overcast which was making it difficult for me to view and differentiate the sand and sky, I had to keep the window down. I was here a couple of times in this area. Once with my wife in a newbie drive last year and again further south with @JeromeFJ on an intermediate drive. But it was the first time I had driven in this area. We spent a lot of time in the first 10 km section at the start because it was so fun. We drove this 10km stretch which is about 1/3rd of the total planned track as crow flies for about 2 hours and then rushed towards the exit in last one hour and ended the drive at 9:35 which included 20 min break for a pop out as well. I found it interesting that the dunes would push me into the narrow technical area repeatedly and I had to keep getting out only to find myself back in the narrow technical area. For me it was an enjoyable drive with the entire convoy driving seamlessly and keeping up with the flow. It was in my opinion an elegant drive where we kept pace and drove as a unit. Thank you very much @Mehmet Volga for your presence and being the 2nd lead. it gave me a lot of confidence to drive the way I did today. Also big thanks to @Rajiv Sam, @Joji varghese and @Pacific for playing the crucial role of supporting the drive. @FERNANDO SYRIO, @Bashar Beasha and @Rk ram you guys were excellent and had a flawless drive. I am very impressed with your driving today. The FJ gang of @Hugo and @Mohit Gurnani did well as usual. All very experienced Jeep gang with @Naveen Raj, @Bjoern and 392 @Gok Krish were excellent as usual at the back. I will be looking forward to your comments on today's drive. Till we loop again in the dunes, have a great week ahead.
