  1. @Albertorres@Asif Hussain@Davie Chase@GauravSoni@JeromeFJ@Looper@Zed Please find the much-awaited Desert Champions Trophy 2024 Waypoints, Borders, and No-Go Areas in the attached .gpx file. 17 Waypoints of each category have been scattered in the area. It will be up to you and your team to come up with the best strategy, followed by a flawless execution. 15 No-Go areas have been created. Do not enter those under any circumstance. New ones were added this year around farms and protected areas. Adding to this, be at any time mindful of animals, protected plants and trees, and farms. Outer border has been brought further inside this time. Do not cross it! We have full faith and trust in each team lead to perform this challenge in a mature and safe way. Respect the other teams as well. Any incident between teams will result in disqualification of both. All waypoints will be counted only once. Any team that returns to the starting point within 6 hours with maximum points (as per waypoint weightage) covered through their whole team GPS track will have the honor to lift the Trophy with the most distinguished title of The Desert Champions for the next full year. In case of a tie on points, the team with the least clocked kilometers will win. The average of whole team kilometers clocked per odometer reading will be used. US spec car miles will be converted to Kilometers. 1 mile = 1.609 km. All tracks are to be submitted via the Team Whatsapp group immediately after the event. Export them as a .gpx file and include your name and team name in the file. Good Luck To All ! DC2024- Rules and Regulations.pdf DCT2024 TimeTable.pdf DCT2024 WAYPOINTS.gpx DCT2024 Waypoints.pdf

  2. this is a misleading post, @Luke K P you have the New Garmin Tread XL Overland which is better than last year's winner's Overlander older edition. I think you already solve the Traveling Salesman Problem with that device 😁 Don't level with us common people using free Gaia 😂

  3. Yes very easily. Just long click to create a pin in Google maps and then copy paste the decimal coordinates into the search field of Gaiagps

  7. lots of vehicles here come from agency with beadlock options, so no troubles with not being able to use them. Personally I like being able to air down very low. The extra traction is by far worth the hassle of retorqing to spec. Remember to retorque all 30 bolts per wheel every 500km!

  8. no need. in the GaiaGPS mobile app you will see a search field at the top. This field can be used to enter decimal coordinates or just copy paste them from another application like Google Maps into this field. Then you can save that location as a pin and select "Guide me" in Gaiagps, so you can use it as a straight line. Tell your friends to send you location once they have set up the tent and opened the cooler with drinks. 😁

  9. That is a start. Thanks @Frederic. Now I need to figure out how to make a "party" app too. Thanks!

  10. This is not an easy thing. One option might be for the people who you are trying to find use Sportstracklive.com (website and app) and see if you can use the mobile app to track your friends their live position and use it to navigate towards it. I have not tried it yet but it does allow for live tracking.

  11. Will the normal parts center give you warranty if the transmission gets destroyed ? When it comes to automatic transmission fluid, ALWAYS follow the service manual and don’t deviate from it. There are specific additives required for some models of transmission.

  12. @Sam Don here is a nice discussion about pros cons of beadlocks

  13. heres hoping they have switched from folders to moved to tags so that waypoints or routes can be 'included' in multiple places without creating duplicates >.<

  14. Have you taken it to a dealer that can diagnose with a laptop? It sounds to me like a transmission issue, like it's jumping out of gear. When was the last time your transmission oil was replaced ?

  15. I know it's a simple enough question, but I have been struggling with this for the past months and I would like to understand how do you guys do it? Scenario: somebody shares their location over whatsapp. Whether live or point in time - you end up being able to open Google Maps, Yango, Waze or Apple Maps (or whatever you have) and mark it there. But then what? The point keeps changing and it is no longer being reflected as you already changed the app and marked your static destination. And the route is based on something that may or may not exist (I need a direction, not a "route"). Google can't navigate if roads are not there, so the only way to see the approximate location is to keep the phone in one hand in the "pre" navigation stage, making sure to tap the screen so it does not go dark... Other navi apps are equally inconvenient, but they also don't show you the direction where you point your phone at - so you only see two dots marked on the screen and need to figure out which way the dot is moving. Gaia does this offroad directions pretty well by showing you how far you are off the straight line leading you to the marked point, but only against points that I mark in advance. I haven't figured out a way to "share" location directly into Gaia (at least not on iPhone). Last week I was trying to chase a group of friends in the desert, and the closest I was able to do it with was by asking them to share location using Google account (not via whatsapp, but directly from within google maps on their phones), so it shows directly on my google maps. Looks awesome. Little like a mini map in GTA 5. But it's not ideal. It allowed me to see the moving point(s) (with some delay of course), but again - only until the screen on my phone went dark (I could not tap "direction", because then I would loose the context and Google would force some arbitrary road 20km away on the other side of the map area). It's a huge struggle to keep the phone "live" tapping it with your right hand thumb, while joggling gears and trying to steer with the other hand - cumbersome to say the least. I was desperate enough to find that damn timeout setting on my phone to make sure it stays always on, but my corp security kicked in anyways, and got it locked after a minute anyways. There must be a better way. How do gurs do it?

  16. I think @Fredericwas writing abount external google maps layer on gaiagps, and this will give you a chance to add coordinates

  17. ok, so let's simplify: can we export coordinates from google map pinpoint into Gaia? EDIT: Creating a dumb ios app which would allow me to import data from Google maps and then just keep showing me direction and track statistics should be relatively easy to make. But I can't understand why wouldn't it exist already?

  18. garmin tread sxs 'group ride' requires everyone to be on the same hardware but can see live updates of group members and 'track' to them as well as their stats.

  20. @Simon D Thank you for the wonderful drive. It was very enjoyable, and as I mentioned to you, you are one lead who can make even Badayar seem challenging (thanks for it). I look forward to the IM next week. @Mahesh_ we now have it on record (pic is the evidence) i am shovelling for you buddy.... and i thought buying the 392 would save me the hassle :)... just kidding, it is always fun to drive with friends. @Beide Worku you have transformed your rig completely; it looks great, and I am sure you are enjoying the long travel with all the primary & secondary set up...

  21. Thank you so much, @Simon D for the amazing drive. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and as always, it had all the elements that make off-roading so exciting. We really had a great time! I also want to express my appreciation for involving us in assessing refusals and stuck/recovery situations, and for challenging us to think through recovery options on the spot. It’s a fantastic learning experience, and we’re grateful for the hands-on teaching. It feels like you’re preparing us for future support staff and I’m really eager to keep participating in recoveries, both for myself and for co-drivers. Thanks again, and I’m looking forward to the next one!

  22. I have a kia optima 2016 US Specs. Sometimes when I start the car overnight for going to work or after work going to home it gives hard jerk before coming to complete stop (it happens rarely inly). This problem is immediately solved if I switch off my car for few minutes and then restart it or even if I keep driving it and I feel when it gets warm or runs few kilometers on road without a need to apply brake. This problems occur only sometimes and I don't get any error on dashboard warning lights when this problem appears. I am looking for the root cause analysis or some good mechanic who handles KIA in Abudhabi and doesnt rips off the property for diagnosis and repairs. Thanks
