Thanks @Frederic @Bjoern @DP1011 for getting us in and out of Sweihan today Started out in nahel heading west playing in some of the big bowls and enjoying some ridge riding. The long convoy got momentarily separated a couple of times but we regrouped for doughnuts and chai with fantastic views to the south over the sabhka. From here we followed the plyon path south before heading east into a section of nahel that was completely new to me. Tight technical area with plenty of pockets, the team drove great to get through it all with minimal stoppages. Some real nice tall dunes thrown in occasionally as rewards for getting through. We stopped at gafteen bowl and we tried riding the bowl from both sides. @Zed loved hearing you riding the rev limiter all the way up and around.. 💪💪 We exited exactly on time after a nice 55kmish Saturday morning drive. Dear all, It was a pleasure meeting you all yesterday . Everyone did well during the exploration drive. The flow of the drive was smooth with a very few refusals ( we didn't even need to shovel ) . @Arvindraj and @Guido Ferriani you did great on your 1st FB drive . Thanks @Michael asir for the flowless 2nd lead. And @Gurcharan Mehta for sweeping the convoy making sure no one is left behind. @Talal H, @J-P L, @khlief, @Shahid Mehmood, @Giacomo, @Glenn W. You all dove great and looking forward to meet you again soon. And of course a special thanks to @JeromeFJ for joining and support the drive. its always a pleasure to drive with you my friend . As @Steve Farmer said, I also had the feeling that I was learning a lot and understanding and controlling my car. The rest of the drivers, congratulations to all. Dear desert wanders, @Jose Luis Campos, @frederic demolder, @Steve Farmer, @Vijaya Kumar Doppa, @saumik1989, @Ishak, @Frans M, @Ozgu, @nickJp, @Yurybel, @Benje_Junior, @Dodi Syahdar and @Mehmet Volga Firstly thanks for all showing up on time this morning, for those that made it through the roundabout to the parallel track well done, we could not follow as by the time everyone was at the roundabout the first cyclists were already upon us so we had to wait patiently for them to pass. Patients as we know is one of the most important traits of an off-road enthusiast, however, our patience is not normally tested so early in the morning and not even before we entered the sand. however it allowed time for getting to know the newer members of Carnity and those that had passengers with them. Therefore, the drive start was delayed but we still managed to get a good 4 hours in so all is well that ends well. You guys drove extremely well throughout the challenging terrain that Al fayah provides us. to only have one stuck and a handful of refusals is tantamount to the driving skills shown by you all. I really hope you all had the opportunity to learn a little more about your cars capabilities and your own driving abilities which will only improve with patience and practice. We as leads and support teams are learning every time we go out into the desert as this is a continuous learning loop. A special thank you to the team that came out to join the drive and support us in our effort to get around the desert safely. My Second Lead @Ishak, great job with the distance behind me allowing you enough time to react and change direct or hold as I asked you to, you did not miss a beat today so well done and thank you. My Two Center Forwards, @Dodi Syahdar and @Benje_Junior thank you both for your support it is great to see you guys growing in confidence and knowledge, leaving me to do little but listen to music and try to navigate the dunes ahead, amazing support from you both thanks and see you soon on one of my drives. Our sweep for the day was @Mehmet Volga who did a fantastic job sweeping the rear of the convoy and keeping me informed every step of the way, great job my friend keeping us all in line, together and safe. @Looper thank you for the morning adrenaline rush and for organizing such an amazing drive. Frankly I never pushed my car to this limit but I understand that only on first gear I can make such a run. I never expected transmission over heating though the warning came for just two min@Jon L thank you for the barbeque and new lessons in preparing smokey flavoured meat and great conversations with you and your friend...looking forward to having more drives like this ..

Thanks again Davie and the whole team for making this morning such a fun drive. I really felt like I learnt a lot today and my 8yo son Henry had a ball too in the passenger seat. 👍 Wont stop talking about the "camel bones" he found by the rocks.. 😂

Would there be interest for a monthly hike through the dunes, and occasionally even in the wadis coming winter? 3-4hrs, basic physical condition. We leave the 4x4 on the nearest parking and do a 3-4hr hike through the dunes. Afterwards a coffee or sitdown at the car or petrol station. Areas: - Qudra lakes and Last exit area - Faqa arboretum - Al Ajban - Fayah (AD) - Wadis and mountains From a sustainability perspective, we can assume that a convoy of 10 vehicles with petrol engines would consume around 400kg of CO2 on a typical morning drive (50km offroad). Being able to go out on a hike and still enjoy the dunes would improve overall health and save those 400kg CO2 as well CO2 emissions calculator: Calculate your carbon emissions | myclimate

Yes absolutely. I don’t see us retiring from off-roading soon, but that’s why perhaps we can in the future transition the club into offering a plethora of activities. From hiking to cycling / mountain biking, wadi walking, fishing, and anything in between We just need a few people to take the lead. We have a club, we have members, and we have a platform. With such a fantastic community we can pull off many adventures.
