Event details Before the summer ends, and the new cool season begins, let's take time to drive together and explore a very diverse area of Al Hayer and Sweihan: 70-plus Km through a mix of technical terrain, unique "chalk domes", the Ghaf Bowl, ending with some nice long-range dunes as we'll get closer to Sweihan's farms. A great opportunity to be together, celebrate the newly nominated Advisors (AKA The Three Musketeers), talk about our most recent experiences, off-roading or otherwise, and brainstorm about new ideas and aspirations for the upcoming off-roading season. DRIVE DESCRIPTION For those who have the fear of being trapped in technical tight dunes, this drive is for you to face your fears and learn how to master the challenging technical terrain and get out of it with a big smile. The aim of the day will be to maintain momentum in the technical style of "as slow as possible and as fast as necessary". Steering and throttle control will be essential to keep moving through the tight dunes. My very 1st Fewbie drive was in this area on a drive led by Islam Soliman who was a legend in his Black Yukon, this drive is to re-create what I learned on that drive and pass it on. Due to the terrain, I have made this an 8-car convoy. The aim of the drive is to link the routes from Vol 1 and Vol 2 of the series, while putting all of the learnings from the 1st two drives into practice in one of the most famous dune driving areas in the UAE. Made for finding your rhythm and building confidence behind the wheel. It should be a fun, scenic Fewbie-friendly drive, aiming to be aired-up and home before the heat bites. I’ve spent some time scouting the area from satellite imagery, picking out what looks like promising terrain — now it’s time to find out what’s actually waiting for us on the ground. The mission is simple: explore, map and unlock new areas for future play. It could be full of vegetation, dead ends and awkward terrain. Or we might stumble across kilometres of untouched ridgelines just waiting to be driven. There’s only one way to find out. Expect scouting, backtracking, rerouting and plenty of figuring things out as we go. Together, we’ll push into unfamiliar territory, establish the limits of the area and see what Niqa Al Dheeb has to offer. No established route. No expectations. Just exploration. Starting from Tilal Sweihan, we’ll point the convoy west and head into the darkness for a night of flowing lines, ridge riding and experimenting with sidies after sunset. The lack of daylight changes everything, so expect a drive focused on reading the terrain by headlights, picking smooth lines and enjoying the challenge of familiar dune shapes feeling completely different at night. Along the way, we’ll make a stop at the fox dens, then continue westward as we work our way toward a Fayah exit. And because this is a proper night drive, there’s one non-negotiable part of the plan: Mandatory iced latte and moon gazing. With the Harvest Moon almost here, we should have a pretty special desert sky to finish under. Dark dunes, good lines, cold coffee, and a little moonlight. DRIVE DESCRIPTION: With the Dubai summer slowly easing and the temperatures finally starting to come down a bit, it’s time to enjoy the desert a little differently. We’ll start our drive at 5:00 PM, while there is still plenty of daylight to play on the dunes. As the sun begins to drop, we’ll find a nice spot around 6:00 PM, park the cars, pull out the chairs, and simply enjoy the desert. No rush. No engines. Just 30 minutes to watch the sunset, have a coffee, take some photos, and enjoy the cooler evening air. ☕🌅 At around 6:30 PM, we’ll pack up, switch on the lights, and head back into the dunes. The same desert starts to feel completely different after sunset. With fewer visual references and only our headlights showing the way, we’ll continue for approximately one hour of night driving, finishing around 7:30 - 08:00 PM. One drive. Coffee Club: Nahel Nights Starting from Sweihan, we’ll point the convoy east and go hunting for the best terrain we can find on the way toward Nahel. Expect a mix of bowls, long ridgelines, power climbs and high switches, with plenty of opportunities to work the cars through bigger terrain while keeping the drive smooth and flowing. Somewhere along the way, we’ll find ourselves a suitably high dune, park up at the top and take a proper Coffee Club break with a view across the surrounding desert. After coffee, we’ll continue east and work our way toward the exit at Nahel Pumping Station. Big dunes, good views, and coffee in the middle of nowhere. Hard to complain. Camp chair is mandatory. This will be a fun learning experience drive, with some nice seeping dunes in Sweihan, and a chance to take in the area and what it has to offer, but the main goal will be climbing and learning from each others lines, finding the sweet spot for you and your car and what you are comfortable with, how to safely climb up using momentum and when and how to turn down safely, how to slingshot around bowls and use momentum to climb, we may go as far as Nagra but there are plenty of lovely practice areas here. 🌙 Coffee Club: Al Adlah After Dark We’re starting from the easternmost edge of Al Adlah, heading straight into a narrow corridor packed with some fantastic star-shaped dune formations. The opening section will keep things tight and technical as we thread our way through the stars. As the terrain opens up, the smaller formations give way to large, long-range dunes — ideal territory for practising smooth criss-crossing, controlled transitions and maintaining flow across the ridges. Expect a drive that rewards good positioning, momentum and reading the terrain ahead. The aim isn’t to rush — it’s to find that sweet spot where the convoy flows effortlessly across the dunes. ☕ The final 20 minutes are reserved for something equally important: iced coffee lattes, camp chairs and some good conversation under the desert sky. Camp chair is mandatory.
