  1. Some very nice point made by @Yont and I totally agree that owning a car is lot more than the need, brand loyalty or resale. It's actually a marriage between the dealer and owner that keeps this relation sailing for years to come.

Slight mistake and your whole car owning experience is doomed. Many years ago I had Honda Accord and after couple of robotic service from some dumbest human existing on this planet I sold that car. That was the time when honda used to be Trading enterprise and not al futtaim. They were literally heartless, mind-less, merciless robotic service adviser that use to piss me off on every service and I used to ask, what wrong in my life I have done to get this stupid behavior when I am paying double the market price for normal oil change (5K) service.

I also have owned many brands in UAE, but service standard and user-friendliness of Al Futtaim is "THE BEST"

  2. I agree it's good to have incentive for safe drivers, but incentive should be more than just white points, that no one can even check.

Dubai Police should offer some service to check drivers black/white points, and also reward safe driver by some public recognition than a stupid rafle draw in which 99.9999% people luck will never work.

May be send them some e-certificate that cost them nothing, but drivers can print it and keep it or show off to encourage and inspire others around him.

  3. AC gas is leaking definitely as it last for 3 months and deplete slowly. Guy who refill, need to do the complete leak test and repair the leaking hose or dying compressor.

Which car you drive? which year model? Do you have service history? When was last service done? then we can help you more better.

  4. Only point missing from above is the life. Standard one that comes cheap for 5-10 AED will have limited life of 15-20k Kms as oppose to expensive iridium or platinum plugs that comes for 40-50 AED and last close to 100K Kms. You can use long life plug for cars that has difficult placement to change and it's a blessing.

  5. WOW, where this Diesel power thread is marching to is an amazing characteristic of an online forums. lol. These forums are the bitches and that's why I avoid participating as much as I can resist.

Treks made a good point of controlling the false advertising, but nobody is banning anyone. Ging cool off, you also have a valid point but stay away from such personal attack in public forums. It all start with suggestion and brainstorm and you shouldn't be so harsh in your framing your point of view.

  6. Best offroad truck is very varying term buddy. You need to ask yourself first whether you want crew cab, regular cab or extended cab. Crew has 4 doors and two rows of seat for 5 passengers. Regular cab has two door and seat for two passengers. Extended have extra storage space and seat for 2-3 passengers.

Reading from your choice I think you fit in crew or regular cab. Once you know this assign yourself a set budget and then start considering A/B testing on performance so that you can narrow down to 2-3 choices than 10-15 versions and then we can help and advise further. Good luck, and remember trucks loose value faster than SUV as plenty of people buy here to tug boat and that really take a heavy toll on engine and tranny.

  7. I have been seeing this attitude almost everywhere near the mosque area that people are parking like an end of world has happened and running for prayers. Common guys start 5 minutes early and plan properly so you don't block anyone's car or road traffic flow.

I was so happy to read this in today's Gulf news that now Police will fine AED 200 - AED 500 for all cars that park improperly and I hope from today people will start parking with some civil sense in proper designated parking spaces. Good move DP. Thanks a lot.

  8. These big boyz minimizing cars in their fleet so that they can focus on less cars and people start picking expensive cars for off-road and break them often and bring more sales for the company. Toyota Cressida has been discontinued for same reason that they were so good and never break that leave Toyota without a business.

Toyota FJ Cruiser buyers has to make choice between - Prado or Land Cruiser.

Nissan X Terra buyers has to make choice between - Pathfinder or Patrol.

Second catch is now Prado and Pathfinder is not 100% offroad worthy and that's where people will break them more easily and companies will get more money home.

Third Land Cruiser and Patrol is too expensive and too big to be bashed in off-road with a 7 seats it's like a boat in a desert, unless you are a desert safari driver. Even though now desert safari owners adding different cars.

  9. Hi Den,

I had 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee few years back (2010-11) that was lovely to drive on road but as soon I step on sand it use to get overheat. I never tried on sand extensively due to this overheating issue and sold after a while. It was having 120K km for 12 years old vehicle and it was in reasonably good condition with all the regular maintenance done as per Jeep service schedule.

Although I don't require any emergency help now, but I am curious to know the reason after seeing your thread here. Thanks.

  10. Just read above link and it's one of the reference link stating....

    https://www.leakedsource.com/blog/verticalscope

Passwords were stored in various encryption methods but less than 10% of the domains which account for a very small amount of leaked records used difficult to break encryption (less than a couple million). Most of the records (over 40 million) were just MD5 with salting and this is insufficient.

The following table shows the top passwords used by VerticalScope Network users. There seem to be a lot of automated registrations and you can easily see that they own many automobile forums.

  11. I reckon paying 20% extra to such dealer as you can always scout good deal in used car websites through a private deal. Just make sure car has full service history and you are 90% good to go, 10% is your sheer bad luck.
