  1. We usually have spare radio for an absolute newbie on first come first serve base, but for an exchange of drone footage, I will reserve one from right now 😍

    Hello!

I love 13 to the dozen and that's there for a reason. Well if you are open to buying another dedicated offroader then 3.5 LWB is good enough to start with. If you have no specific need for 4 doors, then see if you can get 3.5 SWB (2 doors) that will be more fun for offroad.
  3. Thanks for the update, do let us know if the infotainment system still reboots the next day or not....?
  4. When that tak tak noise comes, car start or its a just a self (starter motor) noise and car fail to turn the engine on.....? Maybe starter is dying, as they usually die such intermittent death like this.

    Hello!

Happy New Year @Per A and welcome to Carnity and it's offroad club, as both are awesome. As a petrolhead, you will love Carnity and as an offroader, you will enjoy a lot with the offroad club. Just like others, I will also vote for Xterra as the first option for daily driver + offroad due to its stock offroad capability. Second, comes FJC, third Prado and fourth will be Pajero and hell yes for 3.8 and not 3.5 if offroad is one of your main agenda.
  6. It was an amazing get together with best people in Carnity to welcome 2019. Plenty of fun, jokes, dance, music, stories, karaoke, drinks, and food - what else anyone wants to celebrate the new year eve, oh plenty of firewood too. Thanks everyone for joining and making it so wonderful
  7. Happy New Year, Maybe worth checking if the battery terminals are loose and causing the system to reset while starting the vehicle.
  8. Let me not start seeing and owning ga-ga all over again. Looks are ALWAYS deceiving in offroad rides
  9. Usually, I don't allow any car without the front and back tow hook, but though you are an experienced driver and have a metal front bumper to tug (in case), will allow you for this one drive as an exception. You know how easily you broke your trusted tow rope while recovering from metal bumper in last drive. You can always join with us Asif bhai, remember how I joined Emmanuel when my Pajero engine was busted.
  10. It's there in other car brands for less famous brands Isuzu trooper very much looks like Pajero and Old Hyundai 4x4 (can't recall its name) seems to me they all are derived from Pajero background, design, engine and 4x4 gearing. Trooper was quite famous and capable too, but less popularity and parts scarcity killed it completely.
  11. Yes, you meant for Rav4 on steroids with happy go lucky bouncing driver......!
  12. In simple words, if you already own 2.7 you can learn offroading and then move to a better and more capable vehicle. If you are planning to buy and offroading is one of the agenda - 4.0 is MUST. @sertac over 80% "stock" 4x4 vehicle - Including Land Cruiser, Pajero, Patrol, Defender, Discovery, Pathfinder CANNOT climb faya from the front side. Faya, due to its steepness and height is most difficult dune after Iftar bowl and Bid Red in Sharjah. I would really doubt if 2.7 fortuner or Prado can climb from backside cheat route even.
  13. Same I told him too on WhatsApp @Mujtaba good to see you signup for this drive, I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot. Have you sorted the front tow hook?
  14. @Asif Hussain have you done the compression test when the engine was at idle temperature......? It shouldn't be cold readings.
  15. Ok, guys, first and foremost feel free to challenge anyone technically but don't use foul language please, it spoils the whole decorum. We all are grown up and should stick to better language and communication while dealing with technicalities. Coming back to Asif bhai truck issue, I suspect the same and I have been involved so far with so many self-tests during that drive and seen the symptoms too. Coolant doesn't seem to have any traces of oil and looks crystal clear (visually). Engine oil seems crisp golden without any presence of coolant or water and has no foul smell. Exhaust has no fuel smell while placing the hand for a few seconds. The car has no loss of power yet. The only thing fishy in the whole diagnostic seems is cylinder 4 throwing the water droplets out, that point to minor head gasket leak. I suspect that HG leak is directly near the exhaust valve and that's why water is resulting in the white smoke at the exhaust and exhaust gas is pushing in the radiator to make air pocket to push coolant to the reservoir. While driving after sometime cylinder temperature is so hot that leaking water droplets cannot produce steam and hence white smoke is disappearing. This is my educated guess. What desertdude mention to inspect cylinder 4 internal with a flashlight to see the color seems good point as if you can differentiate that appearance with neighboring cylinder then that can confirm the leak. Wait until Saleem can confirm the factory spec for compression results. @Barry @desertdude @shadow79 @treks is it normal to have faulty (leaking HG) cylinder to have higher compression?
  16. Although I'm very late to this party, it seems like Summit is a brother of SRT with such a huge wall-like front bumper lower hang with radar or camera's. Removing them and venturing in the desert when the car is new I wouldn't recommend firstly for the safety of your car and then secondly for not voiding the warranty. If Jeep hasn't put tow hook intentionally to tell you that don't take this Jeep for offroad as it's made for on-road comfort and luxury like SRT - Street Racing Tech and not offroad version. JGC has a trailhawk version that has a reasonable mix of both worlds and see if you can swap to that or ask the dealer to swap the front grill etc to Trailhawk without losing an arm or leg. The best option is to have a dedicated desert warrior under 20k like everyone said so that you can drive and enjoy peacefully and also cherish best of both the worlds.
  17. I have just marked the simplest track to new year site so that people driving 4x4 can directly reach within 3 minutes without getting lost in bushes or small dunes. This track doesn't need deflation, engage on 4x4 and keep gas little high to traverse through. 18. Thanks Sri for the exciting video, but that level was fewbie to intermediate on that drive. @Faizan khan @jibransayed and @basharhafez this is a fewbie level drive, so you can join with any of the participant as a passenger or wait for next fewbie drive once you are upgraded to that level. If no fewbie joins in this drive, the level will be moved to Intermediate.......😍

  21. Totally unwanted comment, even with lol Thanks @Barry for sharing this info on DSG autobox, so that many won't fall for it per their marketing campaign as a twin clutch bla bla god-like tech.
  22. OMG, this could have been the worst disaster in summer with children and age-old diabetic patient without food and water. Of course, many people drive for few drives and think they can venture alone, of course, you can but mother nature always strikes when you are least prepared. Apart from navigational skills or software their both cars stuck and that reminds everyone to go in at least 3 or more cars and not alone or in 2 cars. Stuck tow rope between two vehicles is very common especially if you are not a seasoned offroader and plan your recovery without considering the downslope, vehicle weight, angle, and tug intensity. Slight correction from Khaleej Times statement, GPS signal was unavailable they might have meant that 4G or 3G was not there and that's why "online" GPS connection wasn't available. GPS signals are always working BEST in the desert and even if you have the most stupid offline phone app, you can make your way out without counting stars, sun, and moon in today's age. GPS signal gets lost in an area that is filled with skyscrapers like in Burj Khalifa area, but they never fail in desert or offroad. I have been driving offroad since Garmin brick GPS days that works perfectly fine, now phone apps like Motion X for iPhone and wikiloc for android have changed the face of offline navigation entirely. Secondly, every car, phone, most watches and offline google maps have a basic compass, so even if they have followed the qudra lake direction back with correct northing, they wouldn't have reached to Murquab that is way too far. Secondly, they could have gone on top of tall dune by foot and visually spot the road or street light and mark that direction in compass to follow. We see road lights from 15-20 kms very easily unless you are in Liwa, Sweihan or Wagan expansive desert. Kudos to Dubai Police for sending the helicopter for search and rescue in such situation.
