  1. As far as you have driven in the sand before, and you are not an absolute newbie in the sand then you will be fine with the night drive in the desert. @Rahimdad trip leader will do the briefing explaining all the points of convoy driving, safety, 4x4 familiarization, self-recovery and all essentials of night drive before the drive.
  2. I recall that as per my last research to harness real power gain of Unichip you need to upgrade the spark plugs, coils and HT lead. That's where MSD came in the picture and this duo of Unichip + MSD Ignition does wonder for many 4x4 but not in Pajero case. If anyone has done this power mod in Pajero, please share your experience. My personal advise @Jas Gajaria don't jump into it based hearsay unless you see 1 Pajero with Unichip running for at least 6 months without busting the engine or causing any complications. All power mods are relatively short life and that's why car manufacturer tune engines on conservative hp and torque figures. You push this number higher, lesser the engine life becomes.
  3. Is that Pajero club is also supported or promoted by some workshop......? Then it's pretty obvious 🤐
  4. Last I research a few years back and stall this idea after knowing that Unichip does a lot of magic with other cars, but not with Pajero as it interferes a lot and lot of complication may arise. With the change in time, they might be supporting Pajero now, so have you checked with Unichip official site if they are offering any Pajero specific Unichip.....?
  5. Ouch, that's an expensive mistake to make. Firstly we advise everyone that never drive in LO gear as LO gear only meant for recovery, tugging, or a short drive in a sticky situation. You even surpassed that by driving when the car was overheating, but thank god you didn't blow your engine as that could have been done in next few seconds if your transmission wouldn't have failed.
  6. That's weird, which model and how many kms? Have you been driving in LO gear in offroad....? To cook oil and transmission....?
  7. Yours is a different breed Pajero, trust me on this. I have taken your model to sweihan and kept a pace with modified jeeps and patrol, back in 2009 before I bought mine. Remember your Pajero made it to iftar bowl from left, more than 70% stock 4x4 cant make it even with 4 litre engine. What sertac is referring is totally different and fully restrictive with tons of sensors and limiter and down shifter curses.
  8. Ramadan Kareem to all you and your loved ones.
  9. Welcoming night drives is always fun to enjoy the desert at night, which is one of the most amazing experience. You can enjoy the silence, cloud full of stars, escape the heat, enjoy the breeze and sometimes even fog. As it's a first night drive, so we will start a little easy and then gradually bump up the pace and level, so that everyone can get hang of it and enjoy safely. We will start from Bidayer and play around the big red first from all sides and then head towards the Pink rock and play all the way on all peak dunes. Will end the drive at Pink Rock and lay our spread for suhoor with the newbie and fewbie convoy. Anyone who wishes to leave early can do so by 4 AM, as we reach to Pink Rock near 2nd Dec Cafeteria exit. When: 9 May 2019, Thursday Meeting time: 11:00 PM, the convoy will move sharply at 11:15 PM Where: Big Red Entrance at Bidayer GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/PUQeQ7CXejfeQsJa7 Level of drive: Intermediate and above Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. Plan: Drive, train and enjoy until about 4 AM, settle down have Suhoor and exit by 4 AM - 6 AM What to bring along: Snacks, Suhoor meal, plenty of water - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 4 AM or 6 AM Please RSVP on below calendar
  10. You forgot the Jeep Sedan circling on April fool day, it might become reality someday
  11. @yogic72, @AKR, @eduardo, @Fuad, @jibransayed, @Julien V, @Melvin Martin, @O.Farahat, @WiLfY, @Shamil, @Brette, @BIG T please do share your experience.
  12. What do you guys think of this creative rendering of the proposed Ford Mustang SUV, sometimes in 2020? I personally liked it and if it comes close to this muscle looks, it will help prosper the legend name.
  13. It was nice meeting you too Ahmed. Your clicks are ochin krasivaya Appreciate if you both can spend a few minutes on the first newbie drive feedback to help us improve further
  14. Search KT, I saw this posted in my FB feed from Khaleej times
  15. Don't rev hard if you see these radars in Sharjah, as if your car makes more than 95 decibels sound these radar will issue a fine of 2000 dhs and 12 black points. Pretty good initiative to kill the noise pollution. Nice way to deter hooliganism on public roads.
  16. Contessa from Hindustan Motors. India's first muscle car in the '80s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindustan_Contessa
  17. You can get tons of used tires and rim for dirt cheap in Sharjah tire market after the Sahara mall and just before the BMW road Sharjah. Although I'm no expert in such matter, using common sense to go with lightest tires and rims so that pedal pushing won't take much toll as you aren't opting for an electric motor. Do share your final project pics and video, as it really looks a nice fun project. Good luck. This is the starting point: https://goo.gl/maps/C5EFh2fC8epx2sZk8
  18. Not really on a beach sand dude, in dune bashing, I can agree to some extent
  19. @Derick for beach sand or flat sand area - no dune bashing you will be better off with spacers than lift kit to spend so much. Professional lift kits are only good for regular offroaders (dune basher or rock crawling) who really able to use its real value. Just make sure you buy good brand polyurethane spacers that work very well unlike rubber that sags/crack in one year and doesn't harm underbody, like metal spacers. And Srikumar must be right that you are not touching the bumper, but bumper skirt in black plastic that extends to 2-3 inch below the bumper, purely cosmetic stuff (I guess) and you are even better off removing it completely because that might pull the whole bumper down on some low clearance stuck.
  20. Sorry to say, both are lifting the body and increasing the approach and departure angle and not as pic posted - It's not right. However, with suspension change, you will get long travel suspension to absorb the bumps at high speed, where spacers might fail if stock shocks are weak or don't allow much travel. I'm using 2 Inch spacer at back and twisted torsion rod for a 2-inch lift from the front since last 6 years and waiting for my shocks to fail to upgrade the whole suspension. Reason for hanging for so long is that with my present suspension I have a Soft Medium Hard setting switch that gives a beautiful comfy ride for road and stiff for offroad. Unfortunately, in aftermarket suspension, you will most of the time driving hard even on road. I had Aragosta suspension on my Patrol and it used to kill my back even when set at the softest setting from the outside reservoir remote x 4 times changing the dial, instead of one switch inside the cabin to flick for all 4 sides.
  21. @Jas Gajaria, welcome to Carnity and it's offroad club. The very nice introduction you gave in the opening post, looking forward to driving with you. As much as I agree with everyone points here for the driver comes first, I also believe that car is equally important to really enjoy the dune bashing. I have changed 5 cars before I actually started enjoying the desert driving. @G.huz this guy video reviews and his credibility has been already discussed a few months back here so I really didn't pay any heed to his opinion and feedback, when he was crying for flat bench third row in Pajero for an hour long video. Having said that, I don't love new Pajero's either but the value of money they offer and reliability it comes with is close to none. With little expense, you can fix minor bumper trimming or lift issues and they can be good offroaders. Last but not least whenever you are confused for your next offroad rig, ask yourself which 4x4 you have seen in the desert more and you can't go wrong that way - it will be - Wrangler, FJC, Xterra, LC, Prado, Pajero, Patrol, older pathfinder, older Cherokees etc. I very rarely spotted JGC, LR4, LR3, Touareg, ML, etc in dunes tbh. Like I always mention that sand offroading is TOTALLY different than those overland trips, rock climbing, water wading etc. For Sand, you need basic HP first and then torque, for others it's mostly torque. That's why Landrover defender termed as best 4x4 by far coughs up on half the big red climb with 2.5 diesel engine unlike before V8 Petrol (1999).
  22. OMG, seriously......! Have you liked it so much or have you missed a little on the first go....? Beautiful movie but stretched it too long for 3 hrs, could have compressed within 2 hours easy.
  23. It comes in the dashboard, instrument cluster while turning half key it comes on for few seconds as self-test everytime you start the car
