@Paul Zietsman your airbag didnt pop as impact must be under 20 - 25 km (or something) speed threshold designed by Dodge and not because you were in 4X4. Frontal airbags are speed-sensitive first and then followed by the degree of impact. They only get triggered when the impact falls under the crush zone. What @Nathan mentioned is of utmost importance for US model cars to disable side airbags while off-roading.

Engine overheating issues during offroading
Gaurav replied to Thomas Varghese's topic in Nissan Xterra Forum in UAE
Not advisable. This seems like another local market myth from lazy mechanics. I recently switched to waterwetter and spoke to Redline experts in US about the same and they advise that a thermostat is needed in all cars. It helps not only to raise the initial temp but also thermo puts the pressure inside the water jacket that raises temp slowly as opposed to free-flow water. My second argument also put to rest why race cars don't use thermostats then? He answered that the racecar engine has another system to control the coolant flow (it reacts faster than the thermostat) but still, it restricts the water jacket side to put more pressure to raise the boiling point for delivering efficient cooling. -
Hi @Mike. it's a good suggestion, but mostly off-road never goes as per plan and that's the challenge we all love it. From a technical standpoint, 4 hour's drive time means: 30 min briefing and deflation 3 hour drive time. 30 min debrief and inflation. Now in that 3 hour drive time, moving time averages to 1.5 - 2 hours as the rest of the time required for sorting stucks and refusal, as you know we never leave stuck drivers behind and the whole convoy waits. Now trimming that 1.5 - 2 hours drive time won't be fair for the people who wait to get out for the whole week. As Sri mentioned to make sure all cars are happy and safe we only restrict driving in peak summer heat based on different timings for various months.
