  1. No issues hitting the limiter, sitting on the limiter is what causes problems. In most ordinary cars, it's pointless to go all the way to the redline anyway because maximum power is usually made below it. The manufacturer sets the limit at a safe level with more to spare. In many tuned engines, the rev limit is raised by remapping and is still safe. The manufacturer just plays on the safe side.
  2. I didn't mean it to be a deliberate plug. I'm just really impressed with the system every time I see it and I love sharing it. I'm developing a new electronics system to run it, the first of its kind in the world and I'll have working prototypes ready soon. Don't worry about business either, we have some very big contracts coming up. Vehicles are only a small part of the application, properties are massive.
  3. The problem with dark tint is that it's awesome in the daytime but at night you can't see properly. We do the stuff in the video below at work, variable between 30-100%. Loads of colors available too. Black, white, silver, grey, red, green, blue.
  4. Yeah and you're an uneducated, stupid bastard who doesn't even understand basic engineering when the facts are right in front of him.
  5. @Danny perhaps people keep repeating things because you rely on random unproven websites for irrelevant information and your brain is too small to absorb the facts. It's not very often I resort to calling people names on the internet but you sir, are an asshole with the iq of a 3 year old child. I would like to see you call me a moron to my face then we could time how long it takes for your teeth to pass through in your stools.
  6. WOW you sound like a very pleasant and well adjusted individual! Let's be honest, your list contains some very good engines but it is a bullshit list, just like the hundreds and thousands of other bullshit 'best 10 of everything' lists on the internet. They mean nothing. They are just a list of someone's opinion of the best engines and opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. There are no proper facts, figures or comparisons and fact will always beat opinion hands down although many people sometimes don't like to accept that their opinion is wrong even when presented with facts. There have been a lot of misconceptions and incorrect facts posted on this thread which have been cleared up by myself and @treks , both professionals with experience of engine building who have posted FACTS, not OPINIONS. The internet has a lot to answer for. Someone watches a YouTube video or reads a Wikipedia article and suddenly they're an expert. Well here's news, not everything on the internet is true. Most of it is either bullshit or dumbed down to the lowest common denominator in the name of entertainment or passing time. And honestly, I am sick and tired of some of the stuff that gets posted on forums by armchair mechanics and faux experts who couldn't tell a philips head from a pozi drive as truth when anyone who has an ounce of technical understanding can see it for what it is, either bullshit or misinformed opinion.
  7. @hAwX you should make friends with Saleem @shadow79 he's not far away from you and he's very reasonable.
  8. I won't give my opinion on range rovers as I have done many times so if you search the site, you will find it. The only one good thing about range rovers, they are comfortable. Everything else I have to say is bad. I can recommend gulf stars in Sharjah as being very competitive on parts prices and they have a free delivery service. Don't worry, after a few months of ownership, you will know everyone in all the parts shops on a first name basis.
  9. Adding more camshafts does not increase volumetric efficiency. Adding more valves can give you a higher percentage but to say a DOHC engine has higher volumetric efficiency than a SOHC engine is simply untrue. A properly built SOHC cylinder head with matched, polished ports, large valves and good camshaft can easily outperform a standard, out of the box DOHC head. Again, I will point out, valve timing, lift and duration has absolutely nothing to do with the number of camshafts. It is controlled by the profile of the camshaft. On a properly set up, well adjusted drivetrain, any losses would be so low as to be immeasurable.
  10. DOHC does not offer more variable timing. In your Pajero engine, the valve timing is fixed. Cams run on a toothed sprocket which directly correlates to crankshaft rotations. If this timing was to be altered, you would end up with at the very least, bent valves. Variable valve timing and double overhead cams are two completely different things. DOHC does not affect the amount of valve lift or duration. Lift and duration are controlled by cam profile, not the number of camshafts. Having separate dedicated camshafts for exhaust and intake valves doesn't mean anything. If it was so important, Mitsubishi wouldn't have switched back to SOHC. The only time this is relevant is if an engine has variable valve timing. My guess is that they originally used DOHC because it was cheaper to design the rocker system. Having extra camshafts can actually cost your engine power as it is parasitic having to turn extra lumps of metal.
  11. beep beep boop i am not a bot beep boop Paranoid no, but I will freely admit to being extremely cynical and with good reason. I have a few trusted suppliers, people that have been introduced and recommended to me etc. but if I was to walk into a shop randomly off the street, I'm not just going to trust the guy. I know from experience, he'll sell me an engine and tell me it's good. If it's not good, he'll give me another no questions asked and again tell me it's good. He doesn't care about my lost time fitting and removing it, he's just happy he got a sale. If I put an engine together myself and it's wrong, then I know it's my fault but I have 100% faith in my own work.
  12. Here's another problem. If the engine is in a front cut and you can verify the kms, how do you know that's the original engine that came in the car? It could still be a higher km engine fitted because the original blew up. You have to remove the engine and clean it so you can read the serial number then ensure it corresponds with the vin. How many breakers will let you do that? It's not always easy to get an engine in a front cut either. Front cuts take up space and space is at a premium for the breakers. Engines are ripped out and stacked as soon as possible. Then the breaker can tell you however many kms you want to hear. I worked in a breakers yard for 5 years and every engine we sold had done 70k.
  13. If you put a battery and some fresh fuel in them they'll drive fine. The problem is they are contaminated with radioactive fallout and you might start growing extra limbs. That's if you don't die of radiation sickness first. Read about radiation sickness, it's probably in the top 5 most horrible ways to die.
  14. I've seen the rows of skylines in Al Awir. All half way through or waiting to get LHD conversions
  15. I used to hate the Juke but it has grown on me since I saw the Juke-R. Can't argue with 600 horsepower.
  16. I've worked on a couple of Japanese import Mercedes here. Both had half assed LHD conversions.
  17. And how does the above cope when you turn the steering wheel? @shadow79 I think you should go all out and turn the RAV4 into a half track.
  18. It is sad. Homes, possessions, cars, all contaminated and abandoned. Not to mention the people that lost their lives. It's the Japanese version of Pripyat. Japanese import cars is big business back home in Ireland. When the cars come into the port in Dublin you can still find stickers inside the windscreens of some to say they have passed radioactivity testing. Just makes you realize how serious it all is and it doesn't just affect Japan.
  19. We all know the stories about the abandoned supercars of Dubai. Well here's an interesting article I came across about the abandoned cars of Fukushima that I thought you might enjoy. After the tragic tsunami and ensuing nuclear problems, this is what was left behind. http://juiceboxforyou.com/2015/01/the-abandoned-cars-of-fukushima/
  20. Do you know the joke where the guy gets a long tattoo that says "welcome to Jamaica man have a nice day"? You can google it, I won't post it on a family friendly forum 😂
  21. Locally, I don't know where to get them but I'd imagine some of the specialist radio and accessory shops may have. Have a look on eBay. There's a big selection for under 10 dollars. http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?isRefine=true&_nkw=Car radio signal booster&ssPageName=GSTL&_mwBanner=1 I tried one before like in the picture below but this was maybe 15 years ago. I bought a cheap Chinese head unit and the radio was crap so I had to use this. I can't say if it was good or bad, it was so long ago and I can't remember.
  22. Signal boosters/amplifiers are available. They're very compact and will fit behind the head unit. Also pretty easy to install, probably a 10 minute job depending on how difficult or easy it is to remove the head unit. The antenna wire goes in one side and the other side goes to the head unit. Power is supplied by the electric antenna or amplifier remote output on the head unit. They work to an extent but the signal from the transmitter needs to be good to start with. You can't boost what isn't there. I imagine the radio transmitters in UAE will be transmitting on a pretty low wattage as it's a small country and they don't need huge coverage. If you're too far away from the transmitter and the signal is bad to begin with you will just end up with amplified white noise on top of the signal. It's just one of these things you have to install and see if it works for you.
  23. The problem with these plug and play devices is they don't do a proper job. They trick the ECU by sending false signals to it to up the fueling. With these you are running a risk of bore wash amongst other problems. It's better just to get the job done properly.
