Chevrolet Trailblazer Shifter cable broke
Rahimdad replied to Gaurav's topic in Chevrolet Trailblazer Forum in UAE
@Gaurav Very nicely explained and amazingly documented in picture. @Barry, Keep your tea ready as my brother had the same episode twice in 6 months with his Jeep Wrangler 2006 model. Last night I managed to drive the car out of the Sahara Parking lot by fixing it with a shoe lace, however the plastic bush as mentioned in the extreme weather in Dubai just hardens and breaks into pieces leaving the gear shifter free. I need your expertise to solve my brother's problem also and it will give me a chance to finally meet you.- 20 replies

Great choice Slick, looking forward to seeing you in the sands soon.

Here is a youtube link so you can understand better what I had done, although this guy used a cable tie which was not available on me, I had to use the only thing on me which I could use as a tie, and that was a shoe lace. Enjoy.

@harryd as desertdude pointed out start from the least expensive way to fix your problem and than work yourself way up. First thing take it to any radiator shop and ask them to remove the radiator and clean it up from the inside. They will take it apart and put a steel wire through each and every hole to make sure whatever sand that has gone through and become stone inside the radiator is removed, rinse it completely and fix it back. I would recommend you to buy and take your own radiator coolant as I do not trust them with the coloured water they put into the radiators. They would also be able to check it for you is the fan speed is good or if it is getting weaker. This should solve your problem. There are many radiator shops after the University Signal in the Sharjah Industrial area, plus lot of shops that can sell you the original Honda Coolant which is not going to cost you much more than the coloured water these guys use. You will need your Mulkiya to get Coolant also if you go for the original Honda Coolant. Hope this helps.

Funny, last night I fixed the broken automatic shifter joint on my brother's Jeep Wrangler 2006 TJ with a shoelace. It was difficult to hold the whole thing by just tying a knot around it so I had to pass a loop around the linkage and than tie it up. That bushing is just crap and gives up every 1 year with no rough usage. I read somewhere that we can drill a hole and fit it with a nut and bolt which would give it more strength than the original crap Jeep have been building. I will check with my brother if he is game and will get that done in a day or two.

That's good info Gaurav Bhai, another one you can check is Skyline Garage in Al Quoz. They specialize in modifying exhaust as per your preferences and they might be able to do the job you are looking for.

Some really harsh and rude comments, seems people are taking things personally. Wishing to see some more constructive comments rather than one member trying to shove and push the other using their experience as a leverage. One of the senior and founding member of Carnity has just tried it and is very open about his experience. It has made a difference but still not a 100%. Some methods described here might not have crossed some people during a long career in this field, but that does not give them the right to throw mud and say that the people who have tried it out and had some success are lying. Really disappointed at some peoples point of view and the way they express them.

Heated Seat Option - Ford Edge 2014 GCC
Rahimdad replied to mojuni's topic in Ford Edge Forum in UAE
Having used seat heaters in my Jeep Commander 5.7 Hemi, it used to be really useful in winters as it did provide my mom who has Rheumatoid Arthritis some comfort from the pain in the cold. Normal situations you would not require a seat heater in UAE, but if the salesman offered it and the car came without than there is an issue. However in UAE it is what you have in writing rather than the word of mouth, so if you have any quotation or brochure where it mentions the model has seat heating than you can take it up with Al Tayer, if they do not give you a proper response you can take it up with Consumer Rights as well. If you do not have anything in writing than another technique is to go back to the sales person who told you that there is seat heating in the vehicle and make sure you are going at a time when there is a decent crowd. Just start shouting at the top of your lungs that you are really unhappy with the false promises made and Al Tayer are crooks selling you lies and so on and so forth until the Manager comes and tries to interfere. Do not cool down till they promise to give you some kind of compensation for your disappointment. -
Rightly pointed out Ameen, the temperature in the shade was close to 32 degrees, but in the sun it came over 44 degrees.

Thanks for sharing your experience, we as humans tend to complaint when things don't go right or are not done the right way, however very few who take time to appreciate the efforts of a fellow human being. Well done Slick, and amazing work Barry and team.

Great trip report and most amazing pics. Thanks to Gaurav Bhai for bringing in his absolutely amazing camera and thanks to Manu for volunteering to take the pics. What a great time we had in the company of some amazing people and Gaurav Bhai appearance was a complete surprise as I just spoke him to the night before and he was explaining how getting up in the early morning is a task for him. Thank you Gaurav Bhai, your appearance was a breath of fresh air and we all enjoyed your company. Sorry for the breakfast incident, I was left behind by the group and suddenly found myself following a red Jeep thinking it was Qaisar Saab, however about 3-4 minutes in the wrong direction and I saw Khalid Bhai and Zafar Bhai. So I stopped following the red Jeep and went for some crazy driving behind the likes of Khalid Bhai and Zafar Bhai which my guests loved. But somewhere I got left behind again and made my way to the top of Faya to see one of the groups heading back down. So I headed back down with them and followed them to the shade of a tree. As everyone was looking exhausted, hungry and thirsty I opened up the buffet and soon all the parathas and lassi were gone.My sincere apologies for those who got an empty bag where the parathas should have been. All in all a wonderful drive with amazing people and the satisfaction of seeing a smile on every ones face while inflating and heading back to home sweet home. Balaji you missed quite an opportunity to experience one of the best drives ever, however the season has just begun and I am sure there will be many more on the way. Just stay tuned to get the latest drive updates right here on Carnity.com -
This is not the power of the Pajero, but the stupidity of the driver to try and recover from a very bad angle. FJ Cruiser in my opinion with their stock suspension are the worst and would flip on a sneeze from the driver. I experienced something similar in one of the recoveries of an FJ Cruiser but I stopped when i saw it raised from one side ready for a flip. I had totally lost my faith in an FJ Cruiser, but it was revived once I saw the FJs running on Fox suspensions, the FJ somehow is more balanced with the Fox suspension.

Cool. That means it can be registered.

I have seen kids riding 2 wheeler small electric scooters on Sharjah streets, almost saw a couple of very close shaves, I am sure they would not survive if they met with an accident. Kids are senseless, but I am wondering how come the parents don't know about what their children are up to, or do the parents actually encourage them to do this. @manums I have seen these being sold in Ras Al Khor, you can check with the showroom if they would help you register them, if they can be registered in Dubai, they can be used on the streets in Dubai. The one you saw was it with a license plate?

@BarryYou are right, I have no experience, just trying to share information regarding a question put up, without documented proof. Everyone has the right to their opinion and right to ask for proof without which its difficult to believe. @amitaj You are also correct you do not know us and you have the right not to believe us. I apologize for any comments which might have offended you, I have no technical knowledge nor any experience with oils. Just thought since the question came up and I have seen my friend do it to share his experience. As Barry rightfully mentioned there should be some documented proof for the writeup to have any weightage. Let me see if Junaid is still around and if he has any before and after pics to help determine if what he is saying is actually true.
