Hi Gawie, The Pajero SWB is a fine vehicle for offroad . The standard tow hooks are fine. If you do not have a radio yet for your first drive, that is fine, we have spare one that you can use. When joining from second drive onwards you can buy a radio in Dragon Mart. Have a look at below link for more info on prices:

I will talk once to my neighbor, who has a LC200 and experienced offroader and overlander. Will keep you posted.

Hi Adel, Based on the type of car you have, there are many different options: - 25dhs Dune buggy Offroad flag from Dragon Mart with metal bracket that can be bolted to a roofrack, or to a suction cup (also available in Dragon Mart). - 180dhs AOR offroad flag from ACE/Speedex/Emarat Gas stations that needs to be bolted on a bracket or holder. We leave it open to each individual to decide what works best for them, hence we don't do any collective purchases as of now. Same applies for radios, compressors, recovery ropes, shovels, etc.. where we can advise and guide but don't enforce a certain brand or model. As long as it works and it is safe.

That depends on the condition of the vehicle that you’re buying. German parts are obviously a bit more expensive than the Japanese ones, and it may sound rude what I’m about to say but if you’re planning on buying a luxury SUV you should be prepared to shell out more than a budget commuter car type of vehicle.

@luwaimn @Tbone @adelishakk @Martin. @Rajeevan Vickneswaran @Seldon @Michael sammy @Gawie Herholdt @Denver Martins @balaji0007 @Jeffrey Osito Pilgreen @md sarfaraz Please let us know if you have a two-radio already (UHF which allows manual frequency programming). For more information on programming, or finding the recommended models, please have a look at below post. Scroll all the way down to find latest updates.

The problem with this is that many people do not seem to understand that not all roads have a fast lane. A double lane road like Al Qudra road is considered a carriageway, and during busy traffic hours both lanes are full, yet you'll see the crazy Patrol drivers tailgating and flashing like crazy, while driving 140. (Max 90km/h).

This article is complete rubbish and hardly provides any detail about some of the so called issues itself. Their sources are ars.com, caranddriver.com, usnews.com but it looks like they generalized so much that they can't even properly describe what the issues are. Some examples: Comment about the FIAT 500X: 'immensely weak when it comes to its overall structure'. I went to the actual review on cars.com and cannot not find any complaint about that. Comment about the Kia Sorento: ';as it is not the best when it comes to its handling. For that reason, one should think carefully before committing to this rather faulty vehicle' . WhatCar describes the car like this: In this way i can also review cars. Looks more like a clickbait website instead of a proper car review website.

I can’t speak for the whole of China, but the few major cities I was in it was very civilized. Hardly any honking.

They got a bad reputation in the past because of one bad series (pre 2007). After that, they seem to be dead-on reliable, and definitely more pleasing than these horrible CVT things.

Go for a Touareg with proper service history. They are great cars but lack of proper maintenance really kills them.

Had the same problem this morning. Selecting big JPEG files made the uploading hang. When I uploaded them one by one it worked fine. If you resize them to smaller size you should be able to select multiple. -

Agree with @Gaurav the fabric (nonwoven) has lots of quality difference. I’ve worked in nonwoven manufacturing for 12 years and have seen horrible stuff. Best quality is PP (Polypropylene). Worst is Polyester, especially from recycled sources. Look at texture and tenacity. If you pull it a bit it should not immediately deform.

Newbie/Fewbie Desert Drive - Al Qudra - 17 Jan 2020
Frederic replied to Srikumar's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
The family keeps growing and that’s what makes it so worthwhile waking up in the morning and seeing those people who are hungry for some adventure. @Gaurav came back with a bang and baptised the Pajero for a wonderful 2020. Good to have you back buddy. @Srikumar Your briefings are the main secret ingredient why we hardly have to take out shovels and ropes. People hit the sand and understand the basics and keep a cool head. @Obaid.Sultan.1987 got crested with the mighty big Range Rover but kept the smile on his face and I saw he truly enjoyed the drive as I was driving behind him. Due to the larger convoy, our Fewbies got the tasks to either sweep, take second lead, or help out their fellow team members. @Ale Vallecchi @AKR @Adam Marston @Xaf @Wrangeld @Jeepie @tjsingh a shoutout to all of you. I heard really good feedback from you guys. Carrying knowledge forward is a great thing and makes the group become a real tight family. Looking forward to many more of these drives !- 91 replies
