I am in love with the Yokohama Geolanders, I was a huge fan of Nitto Duragrapllers before this. I am currently running the 275/70R16. I had some rubbing issues initially, but eventually all the rubber and plastic parts around just got destroyed and now I am enjoying without any rubbing issues.

    Yeah i was thinking so. 275/75/16 😳

    am running in 265/70/16.

In this case, my advice to @Rahimdad would be to forget the idea, and to buy a vehicle with turbo already installed by the factory. On a 2001 model, the mileage (and wear) on the engine is probably so high already that ANY turbo he fits to it now will make it explode. The engine, not the turbo.

Yesterday i met with a guy who owns a pathfinder R50 2005 with turbo installed. His name is abu saif and well know among the r50 group. He claimed to have 342Hp on his hood. But his machine really roared like a beast.

Thanks @desertdude, I'm going to try steelies sometime soon. Spending Close to 8K for alloy beadlocks rims is a little absurd to me. I do think that the benefit of driving at 5-6psi will offset the weight of the rims a little bit. But it's going to be trial and error!

    Cheers,

    Jas

I think driving at 8psi will be the maximum for good on both sides car and tyres.

at EOD its ur call. 😉

So here comes my update so far -

    1. Checked engine -ripped off as heard some minor sounds from engine and it was found exhaust side camshaft was broken- replaced it and overhauled engine and now it works fine

    2. Replaced all fluids and after replacing the steering pump doesn't feel well with new oil. Bought another pump - waiting the garage to replace it.

( one advantage i found with pathfinder R50 is that all parts are easily available and of low cost )

3.Front suspension damaged and need to be replaced - replaced with heavy duty CR7 suspension and it works fine

    4.Running on stock coils

its so fun to drive a manual here it brings back me nostalgia of driving car back home ( in India). 😍

Replaced my front and rear shocks with coils and now car is lifted by 2inches.

    Replaced the steering pump.

Fixed skip plate ( As i got it free from my friend)

Nope it's not the ebay - faux leather one for 40-50 dhs.

For genuine leather there were only two options I found with legit review and product:

    • Superskin - 100 - 200 dhs with shipping
    • Wheelskins - 400 - 500 dhs with shipping

Of course product wise wheelskins look and feel more premium but as it was DIY stuff and I was doubtful on my sewing skills, which I have never done it before so opted for superskin to give it a try.

As now I know the basics and gone through the learning curve, next time i'll go with the wheelskins.

Anyone wish to go this route, here are my learning that helped me a lot for great results:

    • Prewax the thread to not to have fraying or entangling during the sewing process.
    • Punch the holes with same needle once before installing, as factory holes are very tight.
    • Keep adjusting the center seam during the installation, as I lost track on the thumb area twice.

Supplied thread and leather was of very nice quality that it didn't tore the leather or thread broke while I was stretching on the previously leather padded area. My size was perfect for the wooden trim, but on the leather area it was few mm short, so stretching and pulling few times did the trick and gave the snugly fitting look.

I should have done this long ago, as I was super tired with changing wheel cover every 3 months and then driving with shabby and torn wheel cover for next 3 months due to busy schedule - all the time. And we never find time for such a small thing and it will only strike back when we start driving again.

Now Im driving and keep on rolling hand on leather and fingers on the stitches to have a big smile and satisfaction.

Finally I found the car steering cover that I have been looking for leather steering wheel cover after lot of research and patience.

Custom upholstery guys told me 350 dhs and leave car for 1 day, both things were no-no for me.

It's a DIY cover that took almost 3 hours for me to sew it together.

Driving feel is priceless now to hold this with a smile.

Really don't need a bash plates if you drive sensibly in the dunes For rocks and mountains its worth it. Never had one on any car I've had infact the plastic cover that came with the Land Cruiser we would take out.

Kept the sand from getting stuck in there and if you had an oil leak it would just turn into oily sand crud.

You'd be surprised at how many kilos of sand some people are carrying around in their bash plates and covers. Because everything we had to take one off to do an oil change a small dune would fall out from under the car.

Which also another thing in sone cars it becomes a PITA to do simple things like an oil change because of the bash plates in the way

Sensible driving !!! That hits me back.

wont it be a problem if we start crusting dunes?

    😔

Any old vehicle comes with some amount of love and work to make it tic longer. Just make sure engine and gear are good. 2002 - 2005 came with the 3.5 litre version. First thing get all the oils and liquids drained, put in New ones. Check all the rubber bushings, hoses, pipes, etc and change whatever is necessary. It might cost you just under 2k but well worth to keep it running.

Do you have a bash plate for your pathy ? @Rahimdad @G.huz

First of all congrats @jibransayed for the longest title yet for a thread.

Regarding the suspensions you will feel the lag or bounce when you drive or when you are going over a speed bump. Best is to get OEM, have to check if they are firm. I got lucky with a suspension shop in Sharjah who had some lying around from a Japanese import. They were hardly used and once I changes I immediately felt the difference.

If you're looking for long term off roading than some after market ones like king shocks or old man emu will do you good. They are stiffer and offer you better traction off road, however they will kill your back on the road.

Oldman emu kills our back. Totally agree with it.

I don't have any claims since over 10 years and btw now all insurance claims are centralize and any insurance can track your claim history, but they don't openly say that.

At the time I renewed Pajero, lowest I got was 1050 and RSA quoted me 1138 (just checked) so for 88 dhs extra I went with RSA for my convenience and other party convenience if I bang into someone.

Car Insurance prices in UAE are very cyclic and it must have lowered now and that's why I asked Fuad to check their latest pricing.

I checked with Oman insurance,RSA and few others and its just changes with very few bucks and i am moving forward with RSA as at the end its always hassle free free service for both parties

i got same RSA for my pajero and am happy with RSA.
