  1. Update: A powerful industrial strenght compressed air at a car wash helped clean the sand and the distortion was removed. Earlier I was blowing with air from my ARB twin compressor - but it wasn't enough.

  2. "Better Template" is a subjective thing to ask. Whatever is easy for you to enter data into and which helps track your record is the better template.

But here you go with a truncated version of my somewhat not so simple file I made to track my own drives. I made this one for my wife who only did an absolute newbie drive, couldn't go to the 2nd one.

DriveDB Sheet and Members Table (in List Sheet) are optional and used when one want to see with whom they are driving most. One can add more columns in the Summary sheet to record their (Gaia) GPS drive data and link to the online version of the same.

List sheet is used as validation of the input data & Greyed out columns are automatically picked up. The file is structured in this fashion so that the data input is validated and can be used to make pivot tables / reports if one wants to - of course one might want to enter a lot more data points to be able to do more.

  4. PS: The Apex valves don’t work well with the petrol pump air compressors. It might not be a problem for most since all would have a compressor in the car and use it to inflate.

I have a OCD for the correct numbers on my dash and would visit them 1-2 times a week to make sure it is uniform, 😔

  5. The speakers are located near the knee area not easily accessible and would require removing the complete dashboard.

I am not sure warranty will cover this situation as there is no problem with the product. It is self inflicted.

I tried compressed air from my air compressor but it did not help.

The best result I got  when I spanked the area where the speaker grill is located with with hand, it did help a bit and a lot of sand fell off behind the dash. The crackling sound came down but still present. I ran the speaker with full volume  to agitate the sand off, it hardly helped.

While installing A Pilar spotlights this week I asked the garage people to clean it a bit, as they were putting a switch in the vicinity the cleaned a bit more. But a faint distortion is still present.

I too had issues with sand getting stuck in the AC buttons. When the service manager saw my car without a roof he had advised me to ensure they are kept clean, since otherwise the buttons could get jammed. Luckily it was not severe in my case.

I don’t think Jeep service center does any work to clean the dash of sand, and even if the will do, it will cost a ton.

  6. I drove my Jeep Wrangler JL without the roof for a month, approx 7-8 drives, and it got drenched with a lot of sand in the dash area as well.

Some sand dripped through dash to the speaker under the front dash near my knee area in the driver side and it makes crackling sound. When I asked the authorised service center to clean the dash they said it will cost 1000 bucks to remove the front dash  and clean it. Please advise what to do.

  7. @Thomas Varghese you are a "Monster of Milage";  I thought only commercial vehicles do those kinds of numbers.

My rear left tyre started to deflate automatically after the last mystery drive. Since I was travelling, my better half (@Desert Wrangler ) took the vehicle to a couple of petrol pump tyre shops where they said there is no puncture but the valve seems to be the culprit and it will cost AED 130 for the valve replacement and need to order 2 days in advance. I was planning to install the rapid deflating valves anyways so gave the car to a shop and asked them to clean the tyres as well.

  8. @Foxtrot Oscar I am leaving this drive. This would have been my first drive after one and half months of hiatus, but the jeep was due for regular service and I wouldn't get it back by Saturday.

I gave the car for service today, the regular service could have been done by today but I reported a couple of error messages that I get while driving in the desert (ESC Service Required - often and 4WD service required - once). They said they will do the inspection of these error messages only by Saturday.

So if you like features in Sahara go for Sahara I won't recommend buying Sports and try to match cosmetic and electronic features with that of Sahara.

I have a Sport and if I were to buy one today I'd buy a 4D Sahara.

When I got my 2D Jeep - bought it only cause wife wanted a 2 door car and wasn't sure what I was getting into. Now I have buyer's remorse.
