  1. Excellent drive, fast paced and challenging! Big thanks to @Anish S and the supporting team!
  2. Pulling out of the drive so others can join. Car will be stuck at the dealer for the service over the weekend( See you all next week!
  3. Was a fun drive, some shoveling, couple of crestings (even from the Grand Master @Asif Hussain), Subaru losing another (or the same) piece of meat, all the good fun) Thanks everybody and especially the organiser and supporting team!
  4. Its not actually clear. Almost reads like tonight will be the last curfew since it "will conclude".
  5. Sorry guys have to pull out of the drive, we had a positive case in the office this week 😱, so going to get tested and sit tight. Have fun!
  6. would be good to see AUH local drives while we are in lockdown.. do all marshals live in Dubai? maybe it is possible to move start to 6am, make drive shorter to exit 9am, or exit at 10am even?
  7. Was awesome drive, thank you everybody for coming, and @Srikumar and @Nivin for help and organisation! Now need to get some sleep ))
  8. Hi all, joining the drive as well. '21 Wrangler Rubicon, got all necessary gear. Done off-roading in mud/snow environments but never in the sand. Alex
  9. On the same page here mate, first drive in the night in the sands, and also first drive with the club) I think we will be fine with the guidance of the drive leaders.
  10. I wouldn't expect this as a requirement. They are beneficial when driving in the night alone, but in the convoy you can blind up the car in front of you if you get too close. Depends on your lights of course.
  11. Cat gave the approval, but no. It is not safe.
  12. Thanks Niki for the insights, agree on all points. Just need to come to terms with waking up at 3am) Really want to start exploring and learning, waiting for the courage to RSVP to a drive and stick to it) Didn't know that we will have options of starting later in the morning come winter, but thats me being new to the club and the region. Anyway, hope to see all on the sand!
  13. Thanks everyone, all makes sense. Need to start planning for the morning!
  14. I guess it will be a bit of a change for me... I dig the idea of the morning drive, but waking up at 3am when you get to sleep at 1am is a bit of a challenge.. may as well don't sleep at all like the uni times before the exam. how do others manage? this goes back to the whole "larks vs owls" chronotype discussion, but it seems that the club caters for the morning birds. Happy to be proved wrong.
  15. Is it different in winter in this region? Once temperatures cool down?
  16. Hi all, just after the public opinion here - joined the club recently. I personally cannot function in the mornings, so was looking forward for the afternoon drives. From what I can see, majority of the drives are in the morning, 5am meet-up, 3-4am wake-up at least considering the drive to the meeting point. May be an unpopular topic, but what options does the club offer for the afternoon-type people? Alex
  17. Just realised it is a morning drive 😮, sorry... Going to start reading descriptions properly. Will vacate the slot for people who are able to drive at 4am, and will wait for any afternoon drives available. Good luck all!
  18. Just RSVPd, new joiner, 1st ride, have a lot of offroad experience in the snow ❄️, but never in sands. Have all recovery gear, Wrangler Rubicon 4dr.
