Thanks Doc, for organizing this drive.

The title well chosen for today’s fog:  Secret Dunes like indeed I had not seen them before.  Was a fun gathering though, and the fog cleared while we were all firing ideas at the stuck on the slope.  Scenery became visible and enjoyable after that.

My pics in the gallery are not working, I’ll paste some below:

🌵 Qudra Fog Adventure — Off-Road Trip Report

At 06:30 AM, thirteen off-roaders including myself gathered at the north track of Al Qudra, near the Secret Garden. Everyone arrived early, eager for the day ahead. But the desert had its own surprise in store—a sudden, heavy fog that dropped visibility to under 100 meters just upon Briefing is done .

With safety in mind, we delayed our start by an hour, waiting for conditions to slightly improve.

🌫️ Into the Fog

Once the team made the call to begin, we moved slowly along the long northern track before turning south toward Love Lake. We traced the lake’s northern border, driving carefully on the sand track while still surrounded by dense fog.

I led the convoy with extra caution, keeping the pace steady and safe.

 First Break

Our first stop gave everyone a chance to recharge:

Fresh coffee

Light chatting

A short walk around the area

A quick review of the track ahead

The fog continued to fluctuate, but the convoy stayed coordinated and vigilant.

🏜️ Smooth Dune Tackling

As we resumed the drive, the dunes were wet and soft, but the team handled them smoothly. The convoy moved in harmony, keeping distance and adjusting to the conditions as visibility kept swinging.

⚠️ Challenges in the Last Hour

In the final stretch, two incidents tested the teamwork:

1️⃣ A Tough Wedge Stuck

I got stuck in a tricky dune wedge that required a collective push from the support team.

Teamwork made the recovery quick and clean.

2️⃣ A Pop-Out Tire

One vehicle suffered a front-passenger pop-out.

It was fixed promptly and professionally, barely slowing us down.

 Safe Exit & Big Smiles

Despite the fog, delays, and challenges, the group exited safely.

Every one of the 12 participants ended the journey with a big smile and a shared sense of accomplishment.

💬 Final Reflection

“In the desert, conditions can change in moments. But with teamwork, caution, and a love for adventure, every challenge becomes a story worth remembering.”

see you soon in the sand again

Cheers
