DRIVE DESCRIPTION

The run from Al Khaznah toward Sayh Al Tuwaissah begins with wide‑open sabkha plains that ease you into the rhythm of the desert. The terrain starts gentle—hard‑packed sand with scattered ghaf trees—before rolling into long, sweeping dunes that rise gradually toward the horizon. It’s the kind of stretch where you can settle into a steady pace, reading the contours ahead and letting the landscape open up around you. The dunes here are broad and forgiving, perfect for carving smooth lines and feeling the transition from flat desert to true dune country.

As you push closer to Sayh Al Tuwaissah, the terrain shifts into taller, more technical ridges that demand sharper attention. The dunes tighten, forming bowls and slipfaces that reward precise throttle control and clean cresting. The views widen dramatically from the higher ridgelines—endless waves of sand rolling toward the west—and the approach into Tuwaissah feels like arriving at a natural amphitheater of dunes. It’s a route that blends flow and challenge, offering a satisfying progression from open desert cruising to confident, high‑dune driving.

This route is a point‑to‑point desert drive intended for controlled navigation between locations, not a dune‑bashing or high‑impact off‑road experience

DRIVE DETAILS

Level:  Fewbie PLUS and above

Meeting time: 06:45 (SHARP - Without any exceptions)

Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Approximate finish time: 11:00 am

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

• This drive is limited to 8 cars only. RSVP will close on Saturday- 12:00.
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once someone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month

during the day: check site, see if descriptions pop up

18:45 final check drives, be hyped up, 

18:50 start cooking, concentrate on the task at hand

19:30 yell “Chips and Crackers! The time!” (scaring the dogs and spilling salad dressing in the process)

19:31 conclude F+ drives are full since 19:10 or thereabout

Should always add to waitlist... You never know when people will cancel our the drive might get extended convoy! @_Herman_

I’ll program that, Luke!

 

I was on waitlist but added myself also on waitlist on another drive, got accepted there and now I’m off the waitlist here.  Is the system made that way so you can’t gamble on 2 drives?

Also be aware that street speed might be altered via sms from AD police during dense fog .. keep alert and drive safely please

The temperature, 11C and the sun just creeping up the hills as we started our drive was just perfect.

Clean dunes all for ourselves made it even better.

I really loved the numerous opportunities to ride the ridges

The fast paced section of the drive really amped it up.
