As we all know that RTA renewal for cars is for 12 months and insurance we get is for 13 months policy to cover the 1 extra month which RTA gives for a grace period. During this grace period, we can fix the failed car or compare the best insurance available in UAE. I have been driving all my cars during that grace period without any worry, but recently heard some rumor that RTA is issuing a fine if they catch you driving with expired mulkia even in a grace period of the 13th month. RTA fines are ranging from 500 - 1000 Dhs. Is it true? Has anyone got any fine by cops or scanner for driving a car (not parked) during the grace period....?

Hello everyone! Its been long...very long since I went on my first drive and It was amazing. I would love to carry on my off road journey. As its a Pro drive so I was hoping if I can tag along with someone if it's possible??? Hope to hear some good news

Thanks for the update @hAwX. I've already done the engine flush with Liqui Moly Engine Flush Plus and have put Liqui Moly Lifter Additive after oil change (although I only put 1). I'm just at 300-400kms / 3 days after oil change so there should still be hope since you realised 'results' only after driving 2000kms... @nutbolt thanks, I will try and do as suggested. But how can I know if the ticking sound goes away while revving to 3000 rpm when the engine roar/noise will just drown them? Anyhow, will still try this later. BTW, I found out that Habtoor will charge Dhs 525 just to check the car....

Thanks @hAwX for coming back with an update. Sad to hear you lost your car in an accident, hope nothing serious happens to you. Well, lifter usually becomes quite after engine oil gets hot and start circulating everywhere, but in this case its other way around.

Sorry to hear about your experience and after spending 400 dhs, noise is still there. I was thinking about your problem, this morning while getting my Pajero oil change at Mobil and thought your problem must have solved and that's why we didn't hear from you back - as that's what 90% people do - hit and run @hAwX how did your lifter noise got sorted, please share your experience. Reading again, this raises a bit of suspicion that previous owner might know this is coming soon. Anyways, Habtoor being a dealer should have answers to all Mitsubishi queries but unfortunately, my experience with them was very robotic and they specialize in scheduled service like machines doing their job. Little left or right leave their boyz scratching their head. It took me 3 visit and 4 specialized technicians at Habtoor with some internal wasta to get refer to sound technician and still in end left with an advise "Sir your car is old, please buy new Pajero". Problem: Minor knocking, pinking and missing resulting in doof doof noise like a tractor. Later on @Barry diagnosed of a bent exhaust valve changed it and fixed the car in 2-3 days times. Now he is no longer working as a mechanic, but still, help people in diagnosing out of goodwill.

What was the most fun car you ever owned? Ive had a lot of fast and expensive stuff, but the most fun car I’ve ever owned was a 1.1 Peugeot 106. Paid £50 for it at a scrapyard so all mechanical sympathy went out the window. I didn’t care if it broke or got crashed. Wasn’t even a nice one, it was a snot green 5 door. Had a lot of fun thrashing the tiny engine and listening to it scream for help in narrow mountain passes, putting it on 2 wheels at every opportunity. Was a little beast for lift off oversteer. What killed the fun was cutting the top and bottom of the steering wheel off to make it like KITT from Knight Rider and basically turning it into a boat tiller. Driving with anything less than a full steering wheel is difficult to say the least.

Have a solid 2019 plan! 1. Buy a 4x4 car that can handle a bit of desert. 2. go to desert 3. have fun! 4 try not to break car!

Windscreen resin will (should) stop any cracks from spreading. It's not a 100% repair, you will still see it slightly. If it was my car, I'd just buy a new windscreen or a good second hand one if it's available. I can change most screens in 30 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of wiring, sensors etc then it's a 3 hour wait for the bonding to cure and it's good to go. It's so easy.

@Gaurav I have the same reservations about "official" agencies here. You tell them something out of the ordinary (anything outside of oil change), they then give you a puzzled look as if your'e crazy... Ok so I managed to take a video of the car during start-up and after 40mins. During cold start-up, just your usual engine noise with high rpm (especially from 0:49 onwards). Bonus points if you spot the faulty fog light (ref: my other thread): But 40 minutes and 45 kms later, the rattling party has ensued: Sound is not heard while inside the car so that's a positive. But dropping off the car for valet in a snobby hotel would probably make heads turn (not in a good way though)...
