Does the engine turn? If yes then it could very well be the ckp sensor as Barry mentioned. Also after having the battery drained it could also be immobilizer issues and just need to be reset From what little I know after changing the battery you need to turn the key into start position i.e not starting it. Let it sit there for 30 seconds or was it 3 minutes so the key and all the ecus can sync up again. Take out the key and put it back in then start it. I think it's there even in the owner's manual. Look it up I'm sure you get more precise info if you search for it.

A friend of my boss is having the following problem with her Cadillac CTS. The car was fine before, but has been standing still for a while. At one point the car did not want to start anymore. Her husband left the country already so she was baffled to receive below quote from a well known Dubai Workshop: Looking at the quote they basically want to throw 13kAED at that car, knowing well that this almost exceeds residual value of the car. Either this, or the car is throwing all possible fault codes (which might be related to a harness, power supply, or grounding issue. Unfortunately i have little details about the car's symptoms. This is what I did, a bit short.

Brent Walter has created the “Volkspod” by welding together the fenders from all four corners of old VW Beetles. The scooters have a rear and taillights from the original car and wide bicycle-type handlebars for the rider to hold onto. Power: 3 horsepower engine Speed: 25 miles per hour. @Arsalan Ehsan regarding the FJ Cruiser, I am not too happy with the view from the cabin and the suicide door is horrible for malls and tight parking spots. However if you test drive one and fall in love with it, go for it. I would recommend post 2010 models even if you have to pay a little bit more. I do not like the balance and softness of the stock suspensions, so first thing to do is change them to Fox suspensions, somehow that 2 inch lift you get has a much better balance. I have seen FJ Cruisers flipping on a plain surface. Toyota Land Cruiser 1998 - 2003 - Both V6 and V8 are really good, however the V6 is slightly better due to the power to weight ratio. Also the 5.7 V8 gives you the torque on high rev bands rather the the 4.7 V8 which gives you torque at the lower revs as required. Mind the fact that it is a heavy car and it will take some getting used to the boat in the desert. Nissan Xterra is also best after 2010 models, I had also heard about the coolant and oil mixing due to some wrong setup by Nissan in pre 2010 models, but for the Pathfinder models and not Xterra, however post 2010 models would be perfect. If you can find a clean off-road model it would be amazing. Nissan Patrol 2003 - 2005 models are very steady, I would recommend the 4.8 litre V6 version solely due to the power which is required for the heavy vehicle, and the gear ratio which is better than the 4.5 litre version. As for the maintenance costs, it does not make that much of a difference, all these cars are easy and not so expensive to maintain. Remember the general rule is the more expensive the car, the lesser the cost of maintenance and vice versa. the expense is not a particular part cost for one vehicle versus another. For instance for my Pathfinder a tire rod end is AED 100/-, but for a Land Cruiser the same part costs AED 400/-. But if you see the quality the Land Cruiser is 4 times thicker and stronger. So eventually the Land Cruiser tire rod end would last 4 times longer, in that case with the labour cost I will end up paying for that part 4 times as compared to a Land Cruiser owner who will pay for the labour only once. That being said does not mean I have paid for it 4 times already. over time you learn to adjust your drive style to your car and a good driver not only knows how to drive, but also the best way to drive the car to save it from heavy repair costs. Thus my model of Pathfinder is available under AED 10k, but a Land Cruiser will cost you over AED 20k for the similar model. You need to be mindful for the age of the car as well and how well it was driven and maintained. We have a few grandpa in our club, @Srikumar has an XJ '97 model, @Gaurav bhai has a Pajero 1999 model and I have a Pathy 2001 model. As long as you maintain it well it will run well. Being an older model get everything checked and changed from all oils, to wire sets, to rubber hoses to all filters so you have a peace of mind. Being machine it will give trouble at times, but learn to be more attentive to the details and you will be able to save a lot of cost by replacing the parts at the right time. Hope this helps.

I’ve seen a few Benellis around UAE. Best avoided due to reliability issues. I would also avoid anything with an extended swing arm. The kind of guys who ride those bikes aren’t the kind of guys who treat them kindly.

I have no access to diagnostic equipment at the moment so I can’t help but the first thing you need to do is get a diagnostic report so you can see what’s going on before extras have been added. I know the president of the UAE Ducati club and they do lots of trips and are like one big family helping each other out. Have a look at Ducati owners club Dubai on FB. There are hundreds of bikes covered throughout the year with hardly any miles on them and owners leaving the country. Have a look out and buy from an expatriate that looked after it.

Update: So i spoke to their service manager this morning and got the following info: Car battery was drained when it arrived in the workshop. Then they've put in a test battery and started diagnostics. Apparently the ECM is not sending power to the injectors, which makes them think there is something wrong with the wiring harness and ECM. I am pretty sure that the car can be back up and running with a bit of time and some parts (and probably lots of energy drinks). But as it sits now the workshop does not proceed without further ok-go on the quote.

These new cars cannot be left sitting for long or else they will drain their battery and throw all sorts of codes. So the first step is to put in a fresh new battery or if the old one is still good to get it charged properly and I'm 90% sure the car will start right up P.S : throw that quotation out the window or use it as toilet paper because that's all that is good for

All you biking experts, which oil or lubrication you use in the bicycles? I'm picking my bike today after 6 months of resting, chain and gear sprocket looks pretty dry and dusted.

Don’t use grease or oil, this will attract dirt and you’ll get a black heavy chain. Use dry ptfe instead, you can get it at ACE. Put the bike upside down, or hang it. Spray it on the chain and all moving parts, swing a few times the peddle, take an old cloth, spray it again on the chain and swing a few time the peddle while you’re grasping the chain with the cloth. This will clean the chain. From a Dutchie, cycles are in our blood.

If you got some lightweight engine oil lying around you can use that in a bind. But spin the tires a bit before usage unless you want oil rooster tails all over the place

Add some grease, helps smoothen things out and also prevents rusting

Oh yeah I forgot about the W201. The last of the proper hand built Mercedes. I had one and outside of servicing, the only thing it ever cost me was a rocker cover gasket. Super over engineered. I remember having to take half the car apart to upgrade the radio and speakers. The attention to little details on that car was crazy. Things like one wing mirror being smaller than the other. A design feature to make it easier to drive down narrow European side streets. Such a shame the W202 was a stinking pile of rusty shite.

Our recce drive was nice. However we are still not posting the drive for coming Friday (1 May) due to the mix response we have received from various places and instances. Hoping things get better soon, so we can resume drives safely.

I think there is something called a mubaya or online sales agreement valid for 30 days, it is like a possession letter but doesn't give a number plate the vehicle remains under the name of the new buyer. There is also a VIP service currently where RTA is sending the inspector to the location and getting all the paper work done not tried yet, may be the other team member would have experienced it.

Anybody remember the first street legal 1000 bhp Supra? Built by Top Secret/Smokey Nagata in the late 90s. It ran a 1GZ-FE V12 from a Toyota Century. Max Power ran a feature on it back in the day where they tried to break 200 mph on a uk motorway. Nearly did it too, they managed 197 through traffic. Very illegal but it was one of the coolest things at the time. The car went on to eventually hit 222 mph on a track.

Hello everyone, I have been for a while with mall openings and new regulations and couldn't find the time to respond back been busy at work from home. A quick update on prado, i had really thought about it and eventually decided what @Gaurav you have said and thought about it long term. I understand that the offer is great right now but given the uncertainty the time holds right now it is not worth the risk. I would pay extra 15K when i have a peace of mind with it. So i have turndown the decision to purchase it. I truly appreciate the feedback that everyone has put forward and taken the time to do so, it really means a lot 😊 Coming back to the million dollar question, where to now? I shouldn't say this but it is a buyer paradise right now given the current situation. Can I ask for recommendation of the cars that i should be keeping an eye out for. I only have access to a certain websites that are already overwhelmed with dealers finding an individual seller is a challenge and i really see the price difference that it makes to deal with the individual rather than with the broker. I have clarity that Pajero is not a runner. From the list shared earlier for cars under 20K, i was interested in the following may be you can guide me in the right direction. FJ Cruiser- any specific model or year that i should keep an eye out for? Toyota LandCruiser- 1998- 2003 : V6 or V8? Xterra- any specific year model? from the list i can see 2008 and 2009 has been recommended. I read somewhere in my initial research that there were certain models in which the water would mix with the oil. Thank you @Gaurav and @Rahimdad for feedback on xterra, and it is good to know that it is not a deal breaker to have the offroad version. Nissan Petrol - 2003- 2005? From the above list, Xterra is the one that is lighter on the budget 💰 is the regular maintenance pocket friendly and spare parts wise. We are equally anxious and waiting to restart the off-road drives. Still there is lot of confusion and mix up going on, when it comes to desert drive. As often it is misunderstood as a gathering. But we are trying our best to get the maximum clarity over the phone and email. We are going 5 cars tomorrow to recce and if its favorable, then we might be able to post a small drive for coming Friday.

@Srikumar @Gaurav it seems that we are getting over the hurdle and life will soon become normal. any plans to organise a drive in the near future?
