  2. Thank you @Ale Vallecchi for this wonderful drive. Glad that I joined as I could experience some new areas plus rekindle my memories of Faqa’a as I could visit the larger dunes in Faqa’a that I haven’t been in years now, it reminded me of the earliest days of me driving in the desert when Faqa’a was a regular IM driving area. the rest of the convoy drove so well that the drive stopped being a Fewbie soon after we crossed into the little Sweihan. Fantastic support from @DP1011 and @Chris Wing and special thanks to @Pavel Pashkovskiy for midway snacks to which I want to get used to, as it rejuvenated all of us and could continue to focus on the drive. @george charbel you did a great job in second lead and once again congratulations on your FB+ promotion.

  3. Hahaha @DP1011 you have been on many of my drives to know - Real drive is usually agnostic to title of drive posted on mondays and names in convoy…. 😀 This one won’t be any diff. I will drive for my fun (it’s my weekend as well 😀😀), you can decide what level it was at the end of it. 😀😀

  18. You need the wheels as it widens the footprint. Once installed on a wooden board it won’t move.

  23. Yes @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke Very much, as long as you see a spot, and convoy order is not closed, U can join the drive! The RSVP mechanism is smart to restrict you, by adding you to WL if u r on your second drive for the week, however, if the drive is not getting full, then WL members gets automatically confirmed depending on their WL number, givimg priority to those who have lesser drives compared to those WL with higher drives for thT week:) ( So you can always add yourself before cutoff time and keep yourself under WL) In short you are IN for this drive as the RSVP dint put you on WL😁😎

  24. Thanks @DP1011 yeah did see the jack move a little yesterday when trying to pop that tyre back on, would not have take much to give it a push over. Looks like i'll have to get a tall floor jack from amazon ......

  25. Hi @Ale Vallecchi, I added myself to the drive this morning (thurs) as it was not full. Just noticed it had a Wednesday cut-off in the description above. Is it still ok to come along? Limited to 8 cars maximum. RSVP will close on Wednesday - 5 PM.

  27. @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke Luke, Thought I get your attention to this, whilst I found the jack we used today very handy, and compact, BUT I and @Looper both found it not very stable compared to floor jack, so u need to be Extra careful if at all u continue to use it, but making sure stable and hard flat surfacw with wooden board...perhaps, as its not best to use bottle jack:)

  28. Indeed. I’ve been on a few off road drives and I see what happens. I’ve seen weekend warriors sticking their head underneath a car that’s only supported by a trolley jack on a plank in the sand. I cannot stress how not cool this is. An extra plank and an extra axle stand should be part of the standard off road kit but I’ve never seen this advertised in any off-road clubs kit. You might get away with it, you might not. A cracked skull with a bit of brain matter squishing through through your broken head isn’t cool. I’ve seen it in real life This kind of stuff does and will happen. My first job in UAE was in a garage in Sharjah. Standard crappy garage. The jack was leaking oil. The owner told me to jack the car up and see why it wasn’t shifting gears. I said no way, your jack is leaking. I stuck a stand under the car and jacked it up. The jack collapsed and the stand saved my life. I survived because I put a jack stand under the car. Other than than I would have been replaceable, just order a new mechanic on dubizzle. Bad shit can and will happen. Never get underneath an unsupported car.

  29. @Barry the bottle jacks are very easily tumbled in offroad due to the uneven surface and while fixing the pop out we shake and clean the wheel and tire. I totally agree on jack support to be used always as all jack can fail sometime or other, that's why while doing the popout repair we only reach the tire from outside and not underneath. And in some extensive work, if we have to carry, we use two jack or spare wheel under the car to save the day.
