Well what can I say, what a fantastic morning out with great company. The drive had a little bit of everything, starting off with an awesome sunrise, then virgin sand, a desert fox siting, some awesome climbs, a few cross overs and sidies. @FERNANDO SYRIO you were just simply amazing as my second lead, holding back far enough to stop and correct when instructed to do so but close enough not to loose me, great job well done. Fantastic support in the centre from @Ranjan Das who assisted where needed in his usual calm and efficient manner. Superb sweep by my partner in crime Goutam AKA @Looper no words need3d mate absolutely rock solid as always. The rest of our band of merry men @Pavel Pashkovskiy @Rk ram @Deepak Eswar you guys drove amazingly well hence why this drive turned into a fb+ well done to all it was an amazing morning in the sand with great company. some stats

The stats say it all; if not for my own stuck, it would have been a shovel/rope free drive. Quick tip on the climbing: You can either use the Jeremy Clarkson (SPEEEEED AND POWER) or the James May (SLOWLY DOES IT) approach: Let's try both option and see where we end up !

Hi All, - This is more for people who are most of times in desert with their machines ( or have been in past and now slowed down ) . I always hear from some people, if off-roading, get your car serviced at 5k instead of 10k - How many of you are already doing this ? I started my new jeep, so far I always have been doing it at 10k, and so far with 55k mileage, I did not foresee any issues ( Nevertheless, I ensure Filter cleaning is done at regular intervals of 3-5 drives, depending on how the drive was , for eg: If I do 2 fast pace IM drives, with lot of ridge riding, then I do it after 2 drives ( although, I learnt about filter cleaning only during my IM stage post 2-3 drives when I had struggle to climb dunes, a conversation with experienced driver helped me to gain this knowledge). So question : Is with regular checks like filter cleaning / coolant check etc., is 10k service OK or you would still have views to get it serviced at 5K ? If at 5k, what would that service include ? Apart from Filter/Coolant - Engine oil change and Wheel alignments ? Any thing specific to be taken care of or ensured ? Would love to hear your thoughts on this as Am sure for new vehicles wont be much of an issue but as it grows older, constant check would be adding to its life for sure.

DRIVE PLAN Faqa'a Express had reached Solar Park destination but it is now time for it to return. Faqa'a Express will leave at 5:30 AM Sunday Morning & it will head towards Little Sweihan before it reaches Faqa'a at about 9:00 am in the morning. Booking starts at 7 p.m. Monday and final call will be on Saturday Noon. We will see lush vegetation soon after we leave Solar Park station and will see proper desert only when we reach Little Sweihan station. Once at Little Sweihan we will find some difficult and narrow technical path leading to some wide wide-open dunes. After we cross Little Sweihan we will encounter a small patch of sabkha and cross on to Faqa'a side. Considering the heat during this summer season, it will be grueling on the vehicle - so make sure that your car is in particularly good condition. You may use the roundabout just last the electric pylon track to turn around and reach the meeting point. Thanks and see you tomorrow.

If your Jeep is your only car, and you are using it on daily basis and offroad, i think high quality synthetic oil Castrol or Shell safe to use for 10k. For offroading only every 5k.

Somewhere in between 5-10k sounds good, my last service at 20k , the old air filter was surprisingly clean. I’m also thinking there was an 8 week period we somehow managed to rack up 5k. And for those of us that grew up in miles 10,000km is only 6214miles One thing I do really like about having the agency service package is we have used their warranty on work and battery twice which we would not have gotten using some other places. I rotated the gladiator tires at 10k had to rotate them back at 17k due to wobble , rebalanced and aligned at 19k and now starting to wobble again at 21k, but this is more a mud terrain tire issue .

Thanks for this and yes you’re right, the tire shops here do a shocking job! Had new wheels put on few weeks back and the balancing weights were over lapping 🤦🏻‍♂️ had them changed, then first week out in the dunes weights came off shoddy work is a big issue!

@Mark B here you go Freddie ! I am inclined with this, but till my warranty, will go with regular 10k Service, and 5-6k oil change with my trusty mechanic, alongside those other maintenance intervals at 2-3k. Is this your story too ? @Frederic

That sounds like a good option, just somewhere between, but if still on service contract, one is free and one is paid so it’s not too bad Why no wheel rotation, just curious?

In my case: * Oil change at 7500-8000km approx, alternating between regular oil change shop and my trusty mechanic. (only good quality fully synthetic oil, i use Castrol 5W40). * Other maintenance intervals followed strictly on all my cars (diff fluids, other stuff, etc..) * Air filter cleaning every 2-3 drives (depending on which level drive and terrain it was). * No wheel rotation. PS there is an app called SimplyAuto. I use it to keep track of maintenance schedules and servicing/repair costs.

You should be servicing every 5k really, it’s not just filters but the oil, trading enterprises will even tell you to do it every 5k if you go in with a off road looking jeep lol

My advice is for Jeep wrangler JL is for every 5k change oil, oil filter and air filter at your personal service Center and every 10k take it to authorised service Center who will do the normal service as per Jeep recommendation.

This one will be quite different from driving in the sand, but nevertheless we will be having fun As i mentioned prior on my drive post, please be aware of the following: This route will take you on super steep climbs and descents and is not for the faint of heart ! Make sure your 4x4 is in tip-top condition. You will need all its power and it will run hot. Be ready to regularly switch to 4LO during steep climbs / descents. All-Terrain types are highly recommended. You might struggle with HT tyres. Do not join if you have any fear of heights. Max 2 passengers per vehicle allowed. When you arrive at the meeting point: - Deflate to 25 PSI only. - NO need for offroad flag. We will be using Channel 2 - 446.031 Mhz See you all soon !

Welcome @BENNY THOMAS to your place for everything to do with cars. I am glad you are deciding to join us for your first taste of off-road driving. We will soon post an absolute newbie training which will help you understand the basics and know your Keep Grand Cherokee that much better. Is it the penta star V6 or the V8 version? Be very cautious with the lower lip of your bumper, better to remove before you come and try to find out the fuse for your ABS and airbag. Better to remove those while off-roading. Best to have a flag, radio and air compressor to start with. You will find more information here...
