Was great driving with everyone on Saturday, thanks @Looper for the drive, @Ranjan Das for sweeping and great job by @Mohit Gurnani in Second lead along with the rest of the teams in the convoy. Think looper covered off quite well with his debrief. I didn't see much of the people behind but was watching closely @Rk ram and @Deepak Eswar. @Rk ram as i mentioned, once you get the balance and momentum right in climbing the side of the crests you will be able to position the car a little more "on top" of the crest before crossing to the other side. It will be come easier with a little more practice. @Deepak Eswar your Rubicon is powerful car but short wheel base makes it little less stable on the crests. Try to find the right balance of speed vs momentum and don't be afraid to steer down, loop round and attempt again if the car starts to fish-tail. When you upload videos to YouTube, you must specify that the video is not meant for Kids otherwise it is by default take up in the YouTube Kids. In YouTube Kids it switches off comments as well as background playback (even if you have YouTube Premium) and YouTube would not let the video be saved to viewers playlists as well plus subscribers to the channel don’t get any notifications (learn more). You Do Not want to upload videos in Kids Mode because One: They are not meant for Kids even. Two With kids' mode the exposure that you get on the video becomes restricted and you do not reach your intended audience - your videos are recommended to less than 13-year-olds. You can however edit the setting in YouTube Studio (https://studio.youtube.com/) to specify "No, it's not 'Made of Kids' (go to Profile>YouTube Studio>Content>Video in the Audience section) Example of YouTube Kids more video: 08 07 23 FB Plus_Faqa_fishtailing Bu Tais to Umm Al Oush (i am deliberately not embedding the videos) PS: I will change, if the current video is edited to remove it from Kids Mode.

Night drives with Doc @M.Seidam are always special. This one was drive that I would cherish for a long time. It was truly a drive for the "Brave hearts" as the desert was eerily dark and we were the only ones (hopefully) climbing dunes suddenly greeted by trees and very very soft pockets out of nowhere. The trees and shrubs in peripheral vision bordered on supernatural, scaring my wits a couple of times. We started a bit late, tinkering with our cars to ensure they don't let us down inside the desert. @Simon D did an engine oil service for his Pajero, Doc @M.Seidam did some body work and I was praying to the car gods that my X won't breakdown inside the desert We went into the desert at 10:50 pm and the flow started. The drive was very fluidic with such impeccable lines from @M.Seidam that we enjoyed even the technical parts. There were a few soft patch surprises which were well navigated by @M.Seidam. I especially loved the switches and side slopes in those areas. The drive was a mix of dune clusters (driving in and out of multiple bowls at high speed) with bushy tech areas in-between. Each part was thoroughly enjoyable with just one stuck and very few refusals. We actually went to all the major landmarks in Badayer but I couldn't recognize anything in the dark The climax to the drive was Iftar bowl. We climbed it to our heart's content from all sides and all angles. Once done, we took a fast paced exit within 10 mins. Great sweep and support by @Simon D who had to navigate some tricky climbs behind me. Thank you for bringing enough off road lights for the entire convoy bro The best part was the Pajero climbing Iftar bowl in darkness. I could only see some lights and hear ratatatatatata all the way to the top Until next weekend guys! See you in the sands soon!

Good morning everyone. I have purchased new FJ and planning to get roof bars fixed. I need some advise about from where to get it fixed, what brand is good. Also i want to know if fixing roof bars will increase the noise in day to day drive? I will appreciate your inputs about this. Cheers ! Atul

Hi @AtulR! Many FJ cruisers come with the standard roof bars like this: Are these the ones you will install, or are you talking about something like this: These are crossbars that you can mount on the original roof rack system. There are plenty aftermarket options brands like Thule, Rhinorack, and few others.

As soon as the sun started to settle, we headed South to explore and see what was in store for us in this mostly unknown desert. As expected we found bushes, and lots of them ! Apparently a few ghosts along the way as well Some areas proved to be quite technical, and the low gear was often the only rescue to get through the powderish soft sand. Where i could, i chose to zip through existing farm tracks so we had some relief from the bumpy terrain. We exited close to Rashidiya, and i think this was a kind of overlanding / rocking / rolling desert drive that might be worth exploring during daylight as well. DRIVE DESCRIPTION Welcome to Carnity Off road Club Fewbie drive, meeting in Abu Dhabi and ending in Dubai, this is an inter emirates crossing and will be a little challenging in terms of difficulty as the route will be driving against the slip face from southeast to northwest. Please make sure from the beginning of the week that your vehicle is fully ready especially as the ambient temp is rising, please ensure your off-road gear is as per your rank. Expect all sorts of terrain from technical to longer range dunes as well as wide sabkhas to cross. It will be very important to get ensure you are well rested the night before as you will need it to keep focus and attention, to ensure we maintain a good pace due to the amount of time spent driving. Couple of Notes Note 1: Please keep an extra hour buffer in case of any delays. Note 2: It is advisable not to join this drive if it is your first Fewbie. Totally agree. Better loop as many times as you can than to get into trouble. In the earlier days of my driving I used to breakdown the riding / cross crossing into 3 distinct steps I will take. 1. Climb the ridge - do it will commitment and affirmatively 2. balance on the ridge and center yourself - do not try to rush. 3. Exit with the nose down - do not slip of it while getting down. you need to practice a lot. I myself don’t like doing it so in my drives you won’t find many times but you may join drives by @GauravSoni and @Varun Mehndiratta who regularly post drives for the practice.

Atul, depending on what you plan to use the roof rack for you have different options. Should you plan to carry serious weight then look at the backbone style roof racks provided by Rhino roof rack and Front Runner (see photos below). They spread the weight over a greater area and attach using the standard roof holes as well as having a higher load rating. If you are getting serious about off roaring make sure you look at the Offroad load rating from these manufacturers as it is different to the onroad load rating. You can also purchase similar designs which are copies from many of the 4x4 fab shops in Dubai which are cheaper but they may not be rated to the same weights as the official manufacturers. The backbone style roof racks tend to be quieter then the standard racks (depending on how you fit them) and you can also attach a wind deflector to reduce noise if need be

Thank you everyone for joining this drive. From the convoy itself one could tell that it was a formidable line up with all excellent off-road cars. Within the first hour we were able to cover over 60% of the planned track and I was looking to extend the time somehow because we were almost at the end by 7:30 itself. Few refusals here and there and a couple of loops around the track made up of the fast pace and we completed the drive on time at 9 am. @Mohit Gurnani you did an excellent job at second lead today, keeping distance. I hope you had a good practice using that magical A Trac of yours. @Saverio Arena this was your first fewbie drive but you drove very well without any refusals. @Rk ram you drove quite well, with more practice hesitation if any will go away and gradually you will learn where the push the car and where not to do it. Keeping an eye on the front car how it did will guide you towards it. @Deepak Eswar you were flawless on this drive, of course the SWB Jeep Wrangler JL would have made everything easy as well. @Rob S it was great to see you once again, and thanks for anchoring the drive in the middle and being part of every refusal. @Cristian we drive again and hope you had enjoyed the drive. As usual you were excellent. @Juan R the second white wrangler in the convoy, you have driven more than half of your FB drives with me but this time it was different that it was not a surprise lead from me for you 😝. @Arda Yagcioglu welcome back after the break, and I hope all the off-road driving rust has been removed with this one. @Bjoern good to have you at the back and what can I say, you have always been excellent with that car of yours. @Ranjan Das Thanks taking up the responsibilities of the sweep and doing much of the tugging we had to do today.
