  1. It was indeed a roller costar drive for sure. In the morning when met @GauravSoni who camped the previous night said he had bad feelings about the dunes, so he slept near the treatment plant. Then we had this discussion of how some of us had to tug cars out of these dunes. Even in our last drive - both the convoys had issues in and around this area. The bad omens kind of continued with @Beide Worku's car showing up trouble 5 min into the drive, literally as soon as we entered the sand. It took about 25 min to get him out and start the drive once again. At the front we socialized, but at the back @Mark B, @GauravSoni and @Mike M. ensured that @Beide Worku is safely out of the sand. When we started, I knew we lost the momentum and mindset for the drive. We were outside the double bowl, And I wanted the convoy to be in and out like @Frederic did here (click the link) (edit: you can see the rock in this video too. It is protruding a lot more here) Thanks @Glenn W for getting rid of it from the bowl. But unfortunately, @Andrew John Melvill hit a rock that I saw but had no time to tell on the radio. Once Again @Mark B and @GauravSoni took the lead to fix the car in super quick time and moved on. Then again in about 5 min Drive @nithish468 had a pop out. @Mark B had all the stuff needed to fix it in no time once again. I think by this time we had enough of sacrifice to the desert demons and they were happy, and finally we could do some brisk driving without any further issues. It was smooth and flowing like brush strokes in the desert canvas by a painter. We had one more break, towards the end when @Mike M. had a refusal. Thank you once again to @Mike M. at Sweep, @Mark B in Center Forward, @Andrew John Melvill at second lead and @GauravSoni as flying sweep for making the drive successful. And last but not the least thank you @ChrisW , @nithish468, @Sandeep N, @Hani crest king, @Glenn W and @Gautam Banka for joining the drive. Some stats from the drive: Flat lines are the breaks we took. Link See you all next time.

  4. Thanks @Looper for the amazing morning, quite a drive. @Andrew John Melvill great second lead, it's a shame about that damn rock but I hope you manage to nurse the rim back to full health or replace it with a newer younger model 😁 ... @Mark B great support, had your work cut out for you at times, but nice trick with the ratchet strap. one to remember & @Mike M. great support at the back. @Gaurav Soni the super sweep, great drive. 6. Have a look at Backtrack: Maps for Backcountry Adventures. if you are an Iphone user. I am in touch with the developer and he is updating the app based on some of my feedback. There are still pending updates such as showing the track while recording, and many other small things, but with some time and dedication i believe this app can become a serious competitor for Gaia.

  7. Thanks @Gaurav. This comes as a hat-trick: - It is almost 3 years, to the day, I have been part of this great club. - I now have 50 drives with Carnity - Moving up the ranks to align with my personal objectives as an offroader One thing I would like to shed light on which I am thankful for @Carnityis not only the weekly dune bashing drives but building the confidence to take on the UAE outdoors and the desert environment. Thanks to this club, i now have the foundations which allow me to enjoy the UAE outdoors more than the camels do sometimes Looking forward for more ahead...Thanks again @Carnity

  9. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the great drive Friday afternoon. I haven't been to this part of Al Qudra before, seems silly considering it's not that far from the other well-known areas, but i must admit it was a fun place for an afternoon and eliminating the weeks stress. Everybody drove great, little bit of switching/criss-crossing, faster paced and technical dunes. looking forward to another drive here in the future. @Emanuel Thanks for your support during the drive and I hope you manage to get to the bottom of your issue soon. All the best guys, have a great week and see you again next weekend.

  10. Very strange that my tie rod snapped. It was the drivers side this time. Last month with Davie the passenger side tie rod snapped. Both times coming off a small dune about 2m in height to the left on the downward path and then a gradual turn to the right at the bottom. Neither turn was aggressive nor hard on the leveling out at the bottom. My mechanic, a three time Pajero owner, never heard of this before. After checking the suspension it is a mystery why this happened both times so close to each other timing wise. Perhaps wear and tear and or manufacturing defect.

  11. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for a wonderful drive in a brand new area of Al Qudra for us. There was a lot of untouched dunes along our exploration with very few challenges we couldn't self-recovery from. Ben's pop-out was a learning experience and unlikely to be your last. Ale got stuck on a bush when coming over to have a look. Everyone drove really well. All in all, a fun way to start the weekend.

  12. @Looperthank you for a great Sunday drive. Pace was great with marvelous bowls climbing, had a couple of pop outs one due to a rock placed by someone on a wide bowl, unlucky @Andrew John Melvill and handled very well. @Mark B great support throughout the convey as usual was the fastest tire fixing I’ve witnessed.

  30. @Simon D, Thank you for organising an exciting technical drive! Thought it was planned as a technical drive, but it turned out to be so much more; which made the drive more interesting; with surprises, such as a stunning scenic route, lush greenery, and a beautiful small lake. Thank you @J-P L for the second lead and @Looper for the support. Thank you, all fellow drivers. Looking forward to more thrilling adventures like this!

  31. @Looper and the entire convoy, thanks for a great Sunday morning drive! A few minor issues aside it was a really good flowing drive through some relatively clean sand. Hope to get my rim issue resolved before next weekend! Again thanks for all the assistance with this! Enjoy the last few hours of the weekend!
